We have been working to cancel our service for months, and they keep trying to give us hurdles to keep the account alive and sending us bills. They wanted $8,000 per year for our startup, and we are now working with a competitor for just a few hundred dollars. I suspect they will be bankrupt soon. Avoid at all cost. I've sunk hours into finding past emails to share with them when they accidentally billed me over 2x our contract cost. They aren't supportive when you have issues, are slow to reply, and now, 2 years in, with no changes to our contract or number of stakeholders, they're trying to increase our subscription cost by 250%. The platform is easy to navigate, with helpful resources. The customer support team is always able to resolve my requests. The exercise simulator is a great feature to use before exercising your options. **What do you dislike about Carta?** Sometimes support can take long to respond back to email requests. And the new dashboard which has been redesigned is a great source of information during fundraising (I often screenshot the charts - maybe a download PNG button would be nice at some point - and maybe Capdesk branded?) **What do you dislike about Carta?** Nothing really, at the very beginning it was a bit of a headache setting things up as we had already been through 2 fundraises so things needed imported and setup correctly. But once you're setup and going its great. **What problems is Carta solving and how is that benefiting you?** We wanted to find a way to keep our investors and employees in the loop with ultimate transparency. And we also did NOT want to rely on a Google Sheet like we had done in the past! I can now be confident that our investors and employees can log in at any time and see the most up-to-date information about their shareholding. ### 40. Good customer service. **What do you dislike about Carta?** Pricing is starting to creep up - especially for startups that are looking to pinch pennies. **What problems is Carta solving and how is that benefiting you?** (1) Previously, I had multiple, huge spreadsheets that I used for cap table management. Maintaining them took a lot of time, resulting in a lot of grunt work. Carta has reduced it by over 90%. (2) Getting valuations done was a headache, but not anymore. ### 41. It has become more user-friendly over the years which means that more users can access and update it, which is a good thing. ### 43. The dashboards give a clear view of ownership both fully diluted and undiluted. The process of issuing option grants is easy and the ability to send an email update to all shareholders instead of emailing is also a great time saver. **What do you dislike about Carta?** The integration with Docusign has woeful support. We ended up having to disconnect it because we were stuck between Capdesk and Docusign when it wouldn't work and so now we pay for each envelope despite having our own Docusign account which is annoying. **What problems is Carta solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having to manually track the cap table, and execute share option agreements. **Official Response from Caroline Joseph:** > Hi Craig, We're really glad that the reports and exports are saving you time and equipping you well to share the right information. It's something that can be relatively well done using even a simple excel spreadsheet and dropbox folder. However, Carta does candidly make it easier to manage (and importantly for employees) to view your equity within the business. It's a safe go-to for Cap Table, but now there are dozens of others, including Pulley that offer a near identical service. **What do you dislike about Carta?** After a "teaser" price for 1 year, Carta representative reached out saying they're tripling (3x) the cost of our license for the subsequent year. It's not impossible, but definitely inconvenient to transition. We will be offboarding, but it's been a headache. My recommendation: start with someone else. Carta ethics and price gouging are far from acceptable. **What problems is Carta solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cap table management. ### 45. It is a great way to check the details of employee options on a grant basis, an employee basis and as a high level summary. **What do you dislike about Carta?** Sometimes you have to extract data from different resources and combine them together to find what you are looking for. Everybody has unique uses for data but it would be great if the experience could be customised. **What problems is Carta solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is allowing us to give an improved employee experience as employees can quickly gain insight into the details of their options.
