Server monitoring software facilitates the monitoring and tracking of a server’s performance. This enables users to identify and solve any application hosting and performance issues as well as track changes in the server’s function. This is made possible through monitoring elements such as CPU usage, memory allocation, and more, and then comparing the monitored items to performance benchmarks set either by the software itself or by server administrators.

Server monitoring tools are used by server administrators to optimize server performance and pinpoint issues to prevent downtime. These tools will often integrate with IT alerting software, log analysis software, and other IT issue resolution products to more aptly flesh out the IT infrastructure maintenance ecosystem.

To qualify for inclusion in the Server Monitoring category, a product must:
