Powerful Modeling & Reverse Engineering, But UI and Performance Need Modernization

What I like most about erwin Data Modeler is how it makes complex database design easier to understand through clear, well-organized visualization. My favorite feature is reverse engineering, because it lets me create database schemas from models or build models from existing databases—something many other tools don’t handle very well. It also supports working with stored procedures, triggers, and views, and it includes version control so I can track different builds over time. On top of that, it generates accurate DDL scripts, which saves me time and helps reduce errors. I’ve also used its automation features, which speed up my work. More recently, it introduced GenAI-based automation, and that has made the overall process even easier and more efficient.

I like how the visuals of the data look in erwin Data Intelligence. They help to visualize the data more clearly and draw conclusions. I also appreciate the intuitive way of creating dashboards. The initial setup was quite simple with the initial tutorial.

Excellent Visual Clarity. There is Room for Cost Improvements

I use erwin Data Modeler as a blueprint for my projects, to design/ document database structures. It helps me see everything in one place, like relationships and attributes, and keeps things organized, which helps catch issues earlier. The visuals make it easier to understand relationships and tables, which is very helpful when working with large projects. They also assist when I need to explain the model to other people, especially in meetings.
