Some carriers do not work reliably so we need to retain long code phone numbers as a fall back. Also, while the service is reliable, their support team's response time is poor. If we open a support ticket rarely do we hear back in less than 12 hours. Normally its 24 hours at least and their responses are cryptic and seldom resolve the issue immediately. We are using nexmo at our startup for sending SMS, and automatic phone calls, for multiple purposes. I must admit that Nexmo have an outstanding service (We never had a problem related to their platform), an amazing documentation for their APIs, and an excellent customer support.
