I like that vena is compatible with Excel. especially for users who are already familiar with excel and its functions, it is easier to understand. I lik ethe vena toolbar, which has all the necessary functions available right there. The ability to slice data to get the level of details you need is the best part of working with vena. You do not need to know coding to write lengthy codes like sql to extract the data. It can easily be done by mapping level of members you need the data for. I wish there were more flexibility to bring data while using the expressions in dynamic mappings, like being able to get all bottom level members of the parent and attribute intersection.
Often the time to load a template or report is longer than expected. For a bigger report, it takes about 20 minutes to load the report. It would be great if we can somehow get that faster.
While working in the modeler tab, creating new members or updating members, multiple updates cannot be made. We have to wait for one update to be made before trying for another and sometimes we get error. It is time consuming to make multiple updates in the Hierarchy. To be honest, we were so disappointed that it’s hard for me to find anything positive to say. I guess the team was very nice and tried its best, but I feel sorry for them having to deal with such a clunky product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After a nine month implementation, we ultimately decided to stop the process after spending countless hours on it. Vena’s models are extremely rigid and couldn’t accommodate our needs and requirements. Instead, they asked us to lower our expectations because the product simply couldn’t deliver.
On top of that, they failed to integrate with our ERP, despite claiming that "dozens of users are already using it."

Nothing. Everything in Vena takes a lot of time to set up and do. Customer Service is great and very responsive so I am going to give them this. The product is awful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am not sure where to start with what I dislike about the platofrm but I almost want to say everything. Vena is designed from the ground up to be a complicated platform. Dont expect the platform to be intuitaive or you can do anything on your own from the first time. It is a steep, a really steep learning curve.
If you are an experianced Vena user, it takes you anywhere between 30 min for easy reports to a few days to set up a report, FPA model or budget. Since Vena is based on Excel, you will inhernent all the limitations of Excel with it.
The integration they claim is really a data connector to your ERP. It's a 180 (one way ) degree integration, you can't push back the budget to your ERP. They don't integrate with any payroll providers, so all updates are manually done.
The dashboard they claim to have is basically is power bi embedded into Vena. You have to know how to write DAX formulas to really do anything with it.
During the sale or demo, they're going to make it seem very easy to do anything. Just ask them to set up a report in front of you from the start or ask them to deactivate the flags to uncover the complicated set up.
