What do you like best about Varicent?

The Varicent team completely customized our model to our Comp Plans and business. Once the project was done, Varicent's support did not vanish. We have our own specialist that fulfills our 'wishlist' of new visualizations for Admins to use and enhances our Comp Statements and reporting to the Sales Teams. Sellers are thrilled with the new interactive reporting!

Furthermore, there is excellent on-line courses to support Admins that will take a new person all the way to a programmer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Varicent?

We have very complex plans which is reflected in the modeling; however, with all of the on-line training it is getting easier to troubleshoot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Varicent?

Can configure even the most complex calculations without limitations.

Great flexibility in being able to address many different features and requirements.

Fairly easy to integrate using manual or automated inbound/outbound data flows.

What do you dislike about Varicent?

Calculations run in batch mode or if there is a need for real time in the browser, but there is no real time interaction with the database. This leads to poor user experience, e.g. Manager releases a statement to employee on the screen, but employee will only be able to see this statement after the batch job runs overnight. Similarly, once manager makes compensation decisions, they are not available in reports until the batch job runs overnight.

Online performance is quite slow as we hav a lot of real-time filters and calculations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Varicent solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are likely "the odd man out" because in addition to Sales Compensation we wanted to use it for broad-band compensation. While this was not easy implementation - Varicent had to expand their product capabilities to include real-time calculatoins as the compensation plan is largely discretionary, so a high degree of real-time interaction with compensation manager is required. What do you like best about Varicent?

The product is best in class, but almost as important is the priority that they place on customer relationships. It is a partnership between customer and vendor and I feel that my voice is heard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Varicent?

There are some auxiliary features that are catching up to other vendors, such as document management, but since Varicent has returned to being private, the pace of innovation has been impressive, and I believe that areas of weakness are aggressively being worked on. Look beyond the features of the product and get a sense of the people behind the company, and what kind of relationship you will have them after you implement - service, support, access to executives, access to Product managers, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Varicent?

Varicent nails the basics and then offers options on your wish list and things you haven't thought of yet. Example: expanded reports. Other competitors offered the same suite of products but Varicent continues to evolve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Varicent?

They have so much they are working on that if there is something specific I want that others do not, and is a build out of their scope, it won't get done until many people on their community page requests it too. This is understandable, but still a disatisfaction. It's also hard to find developers that know Varicent. There is a small pool of people who seem to rotate companies. If you have an IT person who is dedicated to learn and you have time to learn, it will help you succeed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Varicent?

I have yet to find things which are great about Varicent. There are some components which are functional at best but do not stand out from any other compensation application. I say this as a 20hr IT person, compensation sales leader, and database engineer/customer story writer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Varicent?

The Varicent design and implementation team has been a disaster to work with from day 1. They lack a general fundamental knowledge of general design, best practices, general business knowledge and functionality, etc. There also has been zero quality control - they build something, say it's complete, and we have to continually check their work - from a design standpoint, not a results standpoint. They build one thing, something else breaks, but it's up to us to do that validation of design work in order to determine if anything else has broken. If the customer is required to have that level of Varicent build experience, then there's no reason to use Varicent's team from the start.

And at that point, there's no reason to use Varicent.

There is very little customer support, All communication is via email, and responses are within 24 hours, so if there's an emergency, you are out of luck. No phone number or Teams/online support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only problem Varicent solves for us is the calculation of commissions. Given that the application and the Varicent team can barely perform this task adequately, there is no way we will allow them to be involved in any other areas of our compensation business. What do you like best about Varicent?

Varicent has the ability to process large amounts of data and apply multiple rules/logic to allow us to pay many types of compensation plans. The seller interface is easy to use and allows the sellers the ability to drill into their compensation summaries to get details of what is contributing to their monthly commissions. Varicent allows us to implent many types of logic across multiple compensation plans. It allows for daily visibility to our sales teams so they can keep a close eye on their monthly earnings. What do you like best about Varicent?

Varicent is a highly customizable system, given accurate specifications are provided during implementation and testing. The more complex your processing model the more time and attention must be devoted to implementation testing. Once complete you have a highly stable and accurate system. What do you dislike about Varicent?

Since each model is custom if you have a highly complex model it can be challenging to make modifications in the future if processing requirements change. The modifications are something the user cannot make and assistance from Varicent is required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
