What do you like best about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

Easy to set up and configure, the appliance can start backing up all assets within minutes. It supports a wide range of operating systems, including legacy versions, and offers 24/7 support with quick escalation for any issues.. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Push agent update. There's a lot of configuration required before deploying the update, which makes the process more complicated. Additionally, many tasks can be done in the backend, but only the support team has access to handle them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

After being bought by Kaseya, it caused a lot of duplication. We have Kaseya VSA and UniView, which appear to do the same functions but are completely separate applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unitrends Backup and Recovery solving and how is that benefiting you?

Unitrends is backing up our M365. Microsoft advertises that users need their own backups and Unitrends solves that issue in an efficient way. We can create new users in M365 and they are automatically added to our backups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The uniview portal feels half baked. Have to submit help tickets to configure to customers and assign salesforce backup licenses. They keep changing portals and do not provide very much help with migrating and accessing the different portals. Support tickets just provide more documentation instead of solutions. What do you like best about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

The deduplication/compression for VM workloads seems to be effective in utilising the size of the Unitrends applicance disk storage, and the reporting/alerting seems good. The ability to gain remote access to the applicance tunnelled through the cloud management interface has been a plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

We were surprised on arrival that the actual amount of physical storage space for backups on the Unit was not as much as advertised (to a deficit of around 20%) due to a large OS partition. Would suggest being mindful of that when sizing the device. Additionally, we have found the device backups seem to be sensitive to things like pending OS updates on VMs or the hypervisor, requiring a reboot of the production environment for backups to resume. What problems is Unitrends Backup and Recovery solving and how is that benefiting you?

The previous backup solution that we were using required management of cloud backup hosting resources, and the backup chain size seemed to be blooming exponentially requiring ongoing maintenance. Moving to the Unitrends appliance seems to be far more effiicent for both retention of on-premises backups, and the fact that offsite/cloud backups are retained on a year-retention basis meaning no need to manage that storage. What do you like best about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

We have Unitrends integrated with our Virtual Environment and we can restore a server in less than 15 minutes. We can also very easily retrieve lost or deleted files. Unitrends is by far the easiest and most reliable backup product I have ever used. We also have their DRASS and its a great service and fulfills all of our off site disaster recovery requirements. I setup all of our schedules and the appliance, I receive emails every morning that are backups were successful with reports and we periodically test our backups. What do you like best about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

Being able to manage the system without having to rely on a third-party MSP enables our team to quickly and efficiently manage our backups, cloud retention, and disaster recovery processes without the delays traditionally associated with needing to reach out to another team for assistance with simple backup and recovery processes. Support has been very responsive when needed and deployment was as simple as getting the agent installed and pairing to the appliance, then configuring the SLA and letting the automated processes take over from there. What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

At this time, there have been no real downsides apart from needing to make space in our racks for the appliances, which was mostly an issue with managing the transition from the existing solution and decommissioning the existing solution's hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unitrends Backup and Recovery solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our previous solution was based on both Tape library and NAS and required manually taking tapes off-site as well as managing archival libraries to maintain compliance. With the Unitrends system, offsite and archival processes are handled based on schedule and automatically performed by the scheduled jobs, eliminating extra steps and the potential for missed off-site transport or possible loss or damage of tape media during off-site transport and rotation. What do you like best about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

It was very quick and easy to setup. The overall setup was done within 5 minutes.

The GUI is also user friendly. The Onboarding team was very knowledgable and helpful.

What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

Nothing in specific comes to my mind.

There is 2FA which makes the login process little lenghty, but I guess I can live with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This is helping to backup the emails automatically for all the users. The backup happens daily and it allows unlimited backups.

What do you like best about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

We use it primarily for the Office 365 and Google workspace backups. It works, it is not anything Fancy but it works. Rollout is pretty straight forward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?

They integration with IT Glue is not great. We ran into troubles where when a user was exited from a client, we could not delete the contact because of the sync and there is not a way to disable the sync. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have to update agents manually on endpoints, this is annoying and is due to pushing updates to the endpoint triggers the antivirus. We would rather not set this as an exception on the AV as it poses a security risk. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
