We chose Ufleet as a routing optimization engine for a project at a leading home appliance retailer in Germany. The client wanted to switch from a third party SaaS routing software and have more flexibility around delivery management whenever they changed business processes. They were also looking for a more scalable solution to sustain growth.

We operate more than 70 grocery shops in different cities and we use Ufleet for our deliveries. We optimize routes according to vehicle capacity and delivery time slots. Drivers have the route info at the ramp and while driving - they do not lose time in loading, in traffic or address searches. We manage delivery slots matching driver supply with customer demand (orders) to make sure we do not lose business due to lack of drivers. We notify customers because we know if a driver runs according to plan or is late. If a client has an issue, we get notified in real time by the Ufleet customer portal and take action. We operate 20 specialized vehicles that makedeliveries of professional (chef) products mostly to restaurants but we also do a good deal of home deliveries or dark kitchens. Our main challenge is to match customer's preferred time slots but at the same time deliver ASAP fresh- sensitive items, such as fish for sushi and chilled meat. Ufleet helps us plan hundreds of deliveries per day optimizing for fastest routes, no delays, and sequencing priority deliveries earlier in the routes. With Ufleet we managed to reach 97% on-time deliveries. Sometimes we have disputes with customers where we use timestamps and photos from the proof of delivery files. We use the Ufleet analytics data on monthly open meetings with drivers where we discuss “what went wrong” situations and how to handle them in the future. With Ufleet we optimize routes with a click of a button and from there everyone on the team is after her/his operational tasks. Warehouse workers load orders in reverse order of the stops. Drivers follow predefined routes and do not worry about addresses. We usually have more than one route per day per vehicle and we know in advance when a vehicle will be available for a second run. For our grocery delivery we have a streamlined process of customer notifications and customer feedback. Based on statistics for the last 5 years, Ufleet gives us the confidence that our plans are optimal but realistic and when things go off course we get notified beforehand via notifications or on the dashboard. We deliver bulky items from dozens of locations using our in-house fleet as well as the vehicles of logistics partners. With Ufleet we can now plan centrally and optimize the vehicle and warehouse resources. Apart from delivery to end customers, we also use Ufleet to organize routes between warehouses.
