The best thing about Synthesia is that if you've ever used a straightforward design / build tool before (e.g. PowerPoint) then you'll be able to pick up the basics faster than you'd think. Having such an intuitive design is a tremendous boon for a larger company with employees having an array of skillsets and experience with technology. I enjoy having confidence that I can take Synthesia to anyone and they can easily review and understand the video creation process. Plus, I've had excellent experiences with their customer support team. They're fast, knowledgable and respect my time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They still seem to rollout interface updates without giving proper advance notication. It's not a show stopping issue, but it can cause some bumps, even when the updates are minor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Support is excellent for answering questions and helping you get up and running. The system is very easy to implement, and the interface is incredibly user-friendly. You can create professional-looking videos quickly, especially with the AI content feature and a few minor tweaks afterward.
For me, one of the greatest benefits is that once the video is produced, the content can be easily updated if it becomes out of date due to changes in policy, product names, features, or processes. Using the traditional method, you would need to re-record the entire script with a presenter. Now, it's just a matter of spending a few minutes updating the script and regenerating the video.
The personal avatar feature produces flawless video representations of me, which is both truly amazing and a little unsettling at the same time. What I love about Synthesia is that they moderate videos before they are generated. At first, I found this delay inconvenient, but after using the tool, I now understand the importance of this step. Synthesia should be commended for taking responsibility to prevent the misuse of this tool, which could otherwise be easily abused without moderation. Excellent work! Some features are blocked on the lower packages, which doesn’t make sense to me. It would be better to offer these features as pay-as-you-go add-ons, allowing users to choose what they need. For example, the custom voice feature.
The custom avatar is excellent, but I’m from the North East of England, and I have a regional accent. While the personal avatar produces a British accent, it gave me a southern accent, which was a bit strange but also quite funny. That said, the video representation of me is flawless.
I just want to highlight that producing only a few videos a month doesn’t mean you don’t want them to be the best they possibly can be. It’s highly unlikely we would upgrade to an enterprise package just for that feature, so there’s a missed commercial opportunity here. Offering lower usage customers the ability to access these features as seamless add-ons could generate more revenue while enhancing the user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It was really easy to learn and work with for someone like me who doesn't have any skill in video making. Also they have a knowledge base as well as training webinars to help you work with the software but it's really easy, fast and you will be amazed of the result. I had to create a marketing video as well as instructional videos for my company and I was worried about how to do it. because editing a video and synchronizing the sound is really difficult. It was really easy to do it in synthesia and my boss liked the video I created. It was like a professional video. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like all its features although there is still room to grow. for example you ahve the ability to add a video from internet to your own video but maybe you want to zoom in or zoom out, you don't have that option. Also some great features are only available in enterprise level pricing plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I value most about Synthesia is the combination of ease of use with powerful features. The ability to generate professional videos from URLs, prompts, or scripts in minutes has transformed my content creation process. The fact that I can say to clients "No, that's it" when demonstrating how few steps are needed speaks volumes about the platform's user-friendly design. As someone who finds being on camera challenging, the AI avatars have removed a major barrier while maintaining professional quality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is very little i dislike about Synthesia, the niggles I have are comon across any platform where you are layering content, clicking an underlying image by accident or moving an asset you didnt mean to - but I have that (user!) issue in powerpoint, miro, etc.,
I would love to be able to change clothing on an Avatar or be able to have one that moves across screen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have used Synthesia for recording slide decks using a personal avatar. Being able to edit by text, having access to easy to use animations and transitions all in one easy dashboard has been a gamechanger. I'm surprised at the small learning curve, and very impressed by the quality of the personal avatar. I know that's not really me on screen speaking those words into a microphone, but it sure sounds and looks like me. No one that I've shown the video to has asked me if it's AI generated - that's how accurate it appears.
For anyone that understands how silly the English language can be sometimes, it was remarkably easy to edit the few words where some guidance is needed as to correct pronunciation. We also use a lot of government acronyms in our particular work, so being able to edit how something is pronounced is a big deal for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Although my first slide deck/video was just under 20 minutes, I had 50 slides and many animations/transitions, in addition to my personal avatar speaking throughout the presentation. It took a while for the recording to fully render.
Occassionally right when an animation occurs on screen, there is a slight delay in my cadence when talking. When there are no animations, its been flawless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The editing features make it really intuitive to author engaging videos. Synthesia tools make it easy to animate the layout of scenes with pin point accuracy as to script timing and specific behaviours.
The customer support has been great, whenever I had a issue I got quick, helpful, responses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The web based system is sometimes slow to respond, this can cause issues if mutiple buttons are pressed, easy to fix with undo and redo but can still cause issues. The new layers feature is helpful but could be even better with ability to group images into layers... this could hepkl reduce the required number of sceness... lack of copatibility with SCORM...
some of the avatars have idiosyncratic behaviors, eye brow raising or mount scrunching.
It is sometimes hard to determine what order images will be displayed in, and and animating them since they are layered Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Synthesia is simply incredible!
After testing several video creation software options, it’s without a doubt the best.
I can see development progress month by month—congratulations!
I use Synthesia to create all the application tutorials for our Swiss accounting automation software powered by artificial intelligence: GeniusCount.
It’s very easy to use, and I quickly got the hang of it, even though I come from a finance background.

If I could suggest an improvement, it would be to enable the integration of vector illustrations to create animated-style videos. I’ve tried Powtoon and other software for this purpose, but they aren’t accessible for people without experience in this area.
That said, I don’t think this is necessarily Synthesia’s core focus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's very easy to use Synthesia once you use the correct browser (not everything seems to work in Firefox, but it's all OK in Google Chrome). The AI generated content and templates give you a good starting point to then fine-tune and tweak from, saving time and effort. There is a good selection of avatars to choose from, some of them are better than others. I create a lot of eLearning content and the videos integrate with Articulate Storyline and Rise very easily. Sometimes I use Adobe Premier Pro after producing a video to add to the end result. Customer Support has been exellent using the chat feature (thank you Lillian). It's easy to get started with. I tend to use Synthesia fairly irregularly, depending on the job list I have at that current time, but it is easy to get back into after a little while. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'd like to get my avatars to move more, for example, turning side on, holding props such as a stick to point at, or see them typing on a laptop, holding a phone etc. etc. Not all of them have any hand gestures and some look a bit robotic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The studio avatars they provide are decent. Only a couple of them proved to be accuate enough to feel comfortable with posting on social. The templates provided were ok. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Personal Avatar engine is not ready for prime time. Despite hours of attempts, we were unable to get anything that was usable. Often, it was just a hilarious, ugly mess.
The moderation system is completely broken. If you are promoting anything that uses particular keywords like "therapist", your video will be automatically rejected with no explaination in about 2 hours, followed by threatening automated emails from their team. It is impossible to reach anyone about this, and they refused to explain why our videos kept on getting rejected. Often it was just the removable of a key phrase like "therapist" that made a video get approved, but this was clunky and difficult to handle.
When requesting a refund due to the bad experience, they refused, claiming their policies prevent all refunds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The quality of the video produced is astounding. I've shown the results to several people, and most did not pick up that this was an avatar speaking in the video.
Producing video this way has a number of priceless advantages. First, your video is not fixed, you can adjust and refine video at any stage, when new ideas have emerged that you wished you had integrated into your video. It's also a tremendous cost-savor, no more expensive video shoot needed for things like instructional videos. And it's just fun, seeing the result is very impressive.
Lastly, we had some interaction with Customer Support, which was impressive. Even on the weekend, we got a respond within 15 minutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing really major, but, as always with these tools, there is a learning curve, and it does take time to get to a great result. Synthesia offers a host of tweaks, such as adding pauses or even getting the avatar to nod, which gives the touch of perfection, but is time-consuming to get right.
There are small improvement we could imagine, but the functionality that's available is rich and sufficient. Improvements we can think of are more in the category of "what, if", not "if only". Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
