What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

Stripe is easy to implement and offers a robust API for experienced developers to create highly customized solutions. Easy to find necessary information, and easy to reimburse customers. It is also easy to integrate with other platforms, create unique positions for customers or subscriptions. This product is number one for me when it comes to the payment gateway. What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

One of the features that I don't like is that it doesn't allow you to manage gift cards of any kind. This has been somewhat limiting for us since presently gift cards are an increasing form of payment. On the other hand, although the rates are competitive, they can be high in high dollar transactions. Nor does it allow captures to be made to companies, or transactions at the point of sale. Recommendations to others considering Stripe Payments:

If you want a payment solution that stands out for its simplicity and that is limited to processing payments with Stripe card is ideal for your organization. This tool has many payment options available, including Bitcoin, Apple Pay, Android Pay, in addition to almost all existing debit and credit cards. Stripe is also integrated with a multitude of tools thanks to its API. I recommend this software openly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Stripe Payments solving and how is that benefiting you?

With Stripe we have achieved a much more organized and centralized management of our online payments, we use Stripe for credit card processing and we feel more secure in tracking all our income. This tool does a great job of capturing everything we need while maintaining customer safety and allowing us all the functionality we need on the support side to seek charges and be able to reimburse, recharge and work with disputes. In addition to handling bitcoins, stripe is excellent and makes it very easy to send them from our different online wallets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

Stripe is a trusted solution for SaaS vendors but more importantly is trusted by most customers. Customers know that their payment information is kept secured and that Stripe team can help in case of litigation with us.

Getting started is quick and the "simulation" mode allows the users to test multiple scenarios.

The ability to deal with numerous currencies and payment systems is clearly a plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

The cost, it's expensive, the percentage taken on each transaction, the exchange rate for foreign currencies, even if it doesn't seem much at start can quickly become a burden.

Even if getting started is quick, customizing the solution soon requires the use of command lines. Business team alone won't be able to be the sole user, tech must also be involved each time some modification is needed. I don't talk here about the integration with our own SaaS, but adjusting some payment options can't simply be done via the Stripe console. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

Initially, Stripe offered more functionality compared to alternatives, with built-in credit card processing and comprehensive API documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

Their API fails constantly, causing subscription renewals to fail. These failures happen either due to API glitches or because customer banks flag Stripe transactions as fraudulent. When these issues occur, Stripe simply redirects us to the customers' banks instead of handling the problem themselves, despite us paying them a percentage specifically for handling payment processing. When I point out that we're paying them a percentage to solve these issues, they just respond with BS and internal policies. Meanwhile, we're losing clients due to these problems they refuse to address.

Their handling of disputes is another major issue. When customers dispute charges through their banks, even with all proper documentation (Terms of Service, refund policies with customer acceptance proof, and customer activity logs), Stripe provides no real support. This contrasts sharply with PayPal, where all payments were covered by their insurance as long as you provided supporting documents.

While Stripe's support responds within minutes, their assistance is worthless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We previously used PayPal, which charged a percentage for transfers to Canada and out of the box didn't accept credit cards. We switched to Stripe for better functionality, but this wasn't the right decision. What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

Easy to set up and start using. The payment system is actively evolving and introducing many innovative services that are convenient for businesses, aiming to create a one-stop solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

They can block your account without providing any explanation, and in such cases, technical support does not respond at all. You have no idea why your account was blocked, and there’s nothing you can do about it. This results in financial losses and disrupts all work processes.

I recommend connecting an additional payment system as a backup in case of a block. We use the fraud prevention service Radar, and since its implementation, account blocks have not occurred anymore. However, it is quite expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

Managing tax obligations across various Canadian provinces can be complex due to differing tax structures such as HST, GST, PST, and QST. To accurately report and remit taxes, having detailed transaction data that specifies tax components and associated fees for each customer transaction is essential. While Stripe provides tools like payment reports and Stripe Tax for detailed tax reporting, I found the process frustrating. Reports such as itemized and summarized exports or location-specific filings are available but often lack the seamless integration needed for easy access to combined tax and fee data. Additionally, while Stripe Sigma offers the ability to create custom SQL queries for detailed transaction insights, I found it to be buggy and not as intuitive as expected. For a few years, Stripe deposited my Canadian funds into my bank account, and I grouped them as HST, which led to overpaying taxes. When I attempted to break down my earnings by tax structure to rectify this, I realized I couldn’t download a comprehensive document that specified tax details alongside customer transactions and Stripe fees. While Stripe offers separate downloads for tax and fee reports, it lacks a unified solution. The experience highlighted the need for more robust, user-friendly tools to simplify tax reporting and fee tracking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?

My experience with Stripe has been incredibly frustrating. My account was suddenly closed due to claims of "unauthorized payments," which were factually incorrect. There were only three transactions involved, all of which were authorized by the customers. Despite providing clear explanations and offering to verify with customer communications, my support tickets were automatically closed, and I received no meaningful follow-ups.

Even worse, my customers’ refunds are now at risk due to this account closure, and there has been no assistance or clarity from Stripe's support team. The responses I did receive felt automated and dismissive, offering no real solutions.

This has severely impacted my business and my customers' trust. I urge Stripe to take complaints and customer support issues more seriously. This level of service is simply unacceptable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Stripe Payments?

Unlike other payment providers STRIPE gives my clients the option of making payments through AFFIRM or KLARNA while still allowing me to get the full payment up front. I can also add branding that is automatically applied to every payment link or invoice. Customer support is very responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In the early days you had an account manager, then they grew and decided to cut costs by offshoring support. We are a business turning over 10s of millions and we are shoved into the same support pool as everyone else with woefully trained staff without the commercial understanding to provide adequate support.
