• Flexible pricing models: flat recurring fees, tiered and volume pricing, per-seat, prepaid credits, metered usage with real-time event ingestion, trials, coupons, proration on plan changes.

• Solid subscription lifecycle controls: scheduled start dates, backdating, pauses and resumptions, plan upgrades and downgrades, invoicing edits and credit notes, installments, and versioned price catalogs.

• Integrated invoices and checkout: hosted invoices with reminders and Smart Retries, customer portal for self-serve plan changes and payment method updates, and compatibility with Stripe Checkout and Payment Element for quick launches.

• Revenue recovery and dunning: configurable email sequences, card updater, smart retry logic, and support for alternative payment methods to reduce involuntary churn.

• Operational tooling: clear subscription and invoice objects, webhooks for state changes, usage aggregation, and dashboard workflows for corrections without custom scripts.

What do you like best about Stripe Billing?

Stripe gives us the ability to customize how we want to present our invoices to our customers, structure our products, and accept payments. We were even able to overcome a product display problem relating to how Stripe displays items on our invoices through a way that wasn't recommended by Stripe and Stripe continued to work the way we wanted it to anyway. The fact that we later had to change it to take advantage of a paywalled Revenue Recognition feature in no way downplays the value that Stripe provided us during this time by allowing us to use its system "incorrectly" and still function well! What do you dislike about Stripe Billing?

Many of Stripe's additional features are paywalled -- features that I would consider to be an essential part of an online billing system -- which is a giant bummer, because Stripe provides such good and reliable services that you will have no choice but to add on the paywalled features eventually.
