Every call into my firm gets answered by a real person, not voicemail. The receptionists screen out solicitors and callers who aren't a fit, so when a message reaches me it's someone actually worth calling back. And they represent the firm well enough that clients regularly assume they've reached someone in my office. As a solo attorney with no front-desk staff, that's the whole value, I'm in client meetings for hours at a stretch, and I'm no longer losing prospects to voicemail while I'm in them. It took some time to get everything dialed in with the scheduling because I have offices in two different time zones and I need callers to be able to schedule in the right time zone. A solo practice can't answer the phone and do focused legal work at the same time. Before Smith.AI, calls during client meetings went to voicemail, and a chunk of those people just called the next attorney on their list. Now every call is answered live and pre-screened, so I protect my deep work blocks and still capture the intake.
