We use Similarweb regularly in our market research projects to estimate website traffic, compare competitors within a specific sector, and better understand traffic acquisition dynamics. It is a very valuable tool for benchmarking players in the same market and identifying differences in channel mix, growth patterns, and overall digital performance.
What I appreciate most is the depth of analysis it offers. The Industries section is especially useful because it allows us to compare multiple websites within the same category, making it easier to identify market leaders, spot emerging competitors, and get a broader view of the competitive landscape. The platform also provides many opportunities to drill down into the data, and the addition of AI traffic insights is a great evolution that makes the analysis even more relevant today.
From a user experience perspective, the interface is intuitive, although there is an initial learning curve because the platform is rich in features and it takes some time to understand where all the different data points are located. Once you become familiar with it, however, it becomes very efficient and powerful to use.
Another strong point is integration. The ability to download data in Excel is very practical for day-to-day work, and the APIs are a major advantage for more advanced use cases. We use them both for exports into Looker Studio and for integration into an internal software solution we are currently developing, which makes the platform even more valuable in our workflow.
In terms of performance, Similarweb is currently the best solution we use for traffic data. It offers a strong combination of coverage, usability, and depth, which makes it highly effective for competitive analysis and market intelligence.
Pricing is definitely an important consideration, as it is a costly platform, but that is consistent with its professional positioning. For organizations that make extensive use of traffic intelligence and competitor benchmarking, the return can justify the investment.
Finally, the support and onboarding experience has been very positive. We have a dedicated contact person who is always available and helpful, and we speak with them regularly. This ongoing support helps us get the most out of the platform and makes the experience much smoother.
Overall, Similarweb is an excellent tool for market research and competitive benchmarking, especially for teams that need reliable traffic insights, strong comparison features, and flexible integration options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
On the downside, some sections of Similarweb are less detailed than others. For example, views such as Industries are very useful for getting a broad market perspective and comparing multiple players at once, but they do not always offer the same level of depth available when analyzing individual websites or a smaller set of up to five sites in direct comparison.
Another aspect is that the UX changes quite frequently. While the platform remains powerful, these updates can require users to re-familiarize themselves with where features and data are located, which can slow down workflows temporarily.
Finally, not all data is equally easy to export. While many datasets can be downloaded, some insights are only practical to capture through screenshots or images rather than structured exports, which can be limiting when you want to reuse the data in reports or internal tools.
