Compared to other DAM products that we evaluated prior to choosing OL CORTEX/DAM, Cortex was the most user friendly and functional and fulfilled all of our business needs. Since we launched our business Cortex has continued to improve with updates and has proved to be an extremely reliable platform.
We feel confident that our assets, which is our business, are fully protected and safe with Cortex, and being able to manage all aspects of the product via the Cloud allows our team to be on top of things even when working from different locations around the country.
The Cortex team worked with us to create an end user platform where the look and feel is beautiful and is matched by unparalleled performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much negative about the product to report. There are certain tools that we would suggest minor worlfow revisions on if we used them more frequently, and we have found the OL team to be open to our suggestions when applicable.

I have worked with multiple organizations that use Orange DAM and have seen first hand the flexibility and configurability of this application. Whether you are using it as your source of truth for brand content, as a drive wheel in your marketing stack, or to manage content from teams throughout a broad and deep enterprise, you can achieve your goals with Orange DAM.
For the user, it has powerful search, an intuitive interface that make finding and downloading assets a breeze. Users can access curated collections, search and filter with ease, and share content based on permissions set for users and groups or users.
Speaking of permissions. . . . They are finely grained and nuanced so you can manage folders of content using recursive properties -- or you can allow individual users access to specific assets for a specific date range and restricted options for downloading.
If you have a new or highly specialized work flow, need to integrate with new applications and build an AI tagging process to improve time-to-market, reach out to their customer support team and discuss it. Your customer success rep will help you make it work. And they have a detailed training program that will help you learn the ins and outs of Orange DAM. In short, you can configure and optimize Orange DAM to meet just about any use case. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The learning curve is steep. As an administrator, you really need to complete their certification process to understand the full scope of what Orange DAM can do, and you will learn multiple strategies of achieving goals. The good news is their certification program is well designed and the curriculum is exceptionally thorough. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system at Colonial Williamsburg has revolutionized how we manage our extensive digital archives of images, videos, and historical documents. It has a user-friendly interface and many capabilities that make organizing and retrieving assets quick and efficient. This is saving a lot of time for users. The system is scalable, and by using AWS in conjunction with Cortex, it ensures we can manage our growing collections.
The platform also centralizes access to assets, enabling teams to work more effectively. The tool provides robust security and reliable performance, which provides peace of mind knowing our historical archives are well-protected and accessible for future generations. The Cortex DAM is an essential tool that supports our mission of preserving and sharing America’s history. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far, the only downside has been learning how to use the system. As with any complex system that provides additional capabilities, learning how to use the tools can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Orange Logic works closely with us to help optimize our workflow and is streamlining integrations with Adobe Creative Suite software. We can start projects in the DAM for Adobe and edit on our computer. When we save it in Adobe, it updates back into the DAM. Our creative team uses the DAM daily. We create a lot of short-form video digital advertising content.
We also have created custom views for our clients to search and download all their approved creative assets. Once you learn all the tools available, it is easier to use. Luckily the permissions and views for our clients are simplified, and they find the software to be user-friendly.
The Orange Logic team is very responsive with their ticketing system "Link" when questions are submitted to support. They let you know if it is an easy fix or has to go to development. I like that I can upload screen recordings of my questions, and they also share screen recordings with us to help troubleshoot. We also had weekly calls during implementation to ask questions and train.
The software updates around 3 times a year and always has nice enhancements with its updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The implementation was longer than I thought it would be. The software is very robust and can do so much that it does take time to train. It isn't as intuitive as other DAMs for easy adoption. The cost is higher than other providers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Orange DAM provides a flexible experience tailored to our unique user and institutional needs. The interface is visually appealing and compartmentalized in a meaningful way. I particularly appreciate the flexibility offered by the Advanced Search and filtering options. It's especially been helpful to be able to customize our interface and features as we continue to gather more user insights about what is helpful and what could be more helpful for their experience. Lastly, as someone who uses Orange DAM practically every day, having a DAMS that integrates with a separate collections management database has been especially beneficial to maximizing my own workflow efficiency. With proper institutional governance and a robust metadata program, the DAMS has amazing potential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some features about the interface that are a little clunky depending on the browser window size and magnification. For example, if the browser window is minimized to too small a size, the search bar almost disappears entirely and is difficult to locate. Additionally, for some users who are less tech-savvy, there is a learning curve involved with using Orange DAM that may lead to some frustration and decrease in frequency or consistency of use. However, part of that can be remedied with proper governance and adequate training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After a long search, and consideration of proprietary and open-source solutions, we realized we needed a full-fledged solution, with ongoing support. We hired a fulltime staff member to oversee and implement. The ongoing support and development has been the best aspect – Issues with unsupported file types were resolved and integrated in an orderly fashion. The accessibility has also resulted in a scope creep for us – our initial definition of assets we wanted to include increased, as we saw the value for managing other categories of digital assets. Complexity. It is inevitable that a tool that has extensive capabilities and configurability and security levels will have a learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We selected Orange DAM after an extensive requirements-building and selection process. We needed a system that could fulfill the diverse needs of over a dozen different teams, with several external data sources requiring integration, and Orange DAM was the only one that came close. The team over at OrangeLogic were very attentive and supportive throughout our implementation, which was somewhat extended since this was our first DAM and there was a lot to figure out. Since then we continue to have a close relationship with our account manager, which we value. They frequently push new versions and features so you know the technology is not standing still. With great flexibility comes great complexity and great responsibility! The system can be a bit daunting for new users in particular, which is exacerbated for us since our staff are for the most part not already DAM-literate. It can also be hard for a smaller org to keep up with the new features and updates. Sometimes there is an extra cost required for different add-ons or modules, or for their staff to configure existing functionality, and this is after they were the most expensive of the options we considered. Overall these trade-offs were worth it for us! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've been working with Orange DAM for over 12 years in a wide variety of organizations. It is a powerful and flexible system that is capable of adapting to diverse use cases. Although it is a DAM system at its core, it can be easily entended to handle additional data needs around things like product information management (PIM) and marketing resource management (MRM) for enterprises, and collections management for cultural heritage institutions. It is a workhorse platform that performs at scale - up to millions of objects and PB of data volume. It can be easily integrated into an organization's tech stack to enable efficiency and automation. It is easy to implement through its configurable interface and does not require engineering and development resources to operate and scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Orange DAM's power is in its configurability. There can sometimes be several ways a specific requirement could be solved for, so learning the platform well in order to understand the solution options is essential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Orange DAM offers a rovust and highly flexible DAM system with expansive user group and asset permissions. The onboarding process was seamless, white glove experience. Their efficient customer support portal and top tier customer success rep is equipped with deep system knowledge, ensuring outstanding support.
The system is intuitive and quick to deploy, making it user friendly even for first time adopters. I also appreciate Orange DAM's R&D team always consistently at the forefront of tech innovation, continuously developing and implementing new cutting edge features as they become viable. Be prepared for a steep learning curve with Orange DAM, which may not be ideal for beginner or new DAM administrators. The system offers extensive and complex permission controls: including asset, user group, folder permissions and asset visibility classes. While powerful, these features does require significant effor to set up your system to meet your organization's need.
Metadata field must be set up for each asset type (e.g., images, videos, documents), this feature could benefit with a global permission option. Additionally, the asset auto start/end expiration date features could use improvements. Reporting fucntionality, while comprehensive, is overly complicated and challeging to generate a simple report efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is a clean-looking DAM that is very intuitive for our general users and has a lot of features we were looking for (watermarking, granular permissions, zoom, ability to handle photography, video, and audio files). Everyday use is very straightforward in terms of uploading, cataloguing, and finding assets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have found more advanced features sometimes confusing and buggy - though this is in part because of OL's continuing development of new features. We've had mixed experiences with support - sometimes very helpful, sometimes very stalled. The original help center was very confusing and hard to search, though OL seems to be currently working on and making available new training tools. Our needs as a more research-based collection do not always mesh well with the more production-focused elements of the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Orange DAM does everthing we need and a whole lot more. I particularly like using the already familiar library system for organising our video and image assets. Ingesting new work is quick and easy and there are a ton of features built in to manage the assets once they are uploaded. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's a bit of a learning curve. I've used the platform for many years and still I find myself referring to the training manual from time to time. I would place an intuitive UI over additional features - no one likes a training manual! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
