Mixpanel's event-based tracking makes it easy to understand user interactions with your product or app, such as clicks, purchases, and feature usage. It offers a granular level of insight. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Mixpanel is feature-rich, new users may find it overwhelming, especially if they lack experience with analytics tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For product managers, it's a powerful tool and is easy to use with even a little analytics experience. One year in - it already become a key tool for the product team.
Customer Support at Mixpanel is wonderful, especially as a power user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Our experience of implementation is that you need to give it time.
Each project is different. Ours, we understood, was more complicated than most. We had iterations of understanding how to set up the project in a way that would count the users correctly. Also, like other tools, there's an issue of "waiting for the data". Let's say there's a new event we need to add, a new property, or something was developed incorrectly. Now, to get the data, we wait for a release cycle and a couple of weeks to collect data before we can start analyzing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's incredibly intuitive and easy to learn. Within minutes we were able to set up meaningful events and easily track our customers journey. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Without proper SE's, it can be hard to properly track. With the right team behind you, this isn't an issue though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ability to quickly analyze data
Responsiveness
Lot's of features and options, power users can thrive with the options allowed (I consider myself one in my company) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1.
The worst issue: Difficult to handle non-time reports (e.g. x-axis is some segment and not a timeline)
If this will be fixed, we'll be much more motivated to abandon Looker and move solely to Mixpanel

I suggest allowing global filters for selected reports within a dashboard. This would enable changing the filter value to update only relevant reports, without manually saving each one.

For example, when creating a dashboard for an A/B test, some reports may include pre-test data while others contain actual test data.
At present, I need to set a global filter on the dashboard and then manually enter each report to tap "save" for the relevant reports, subsequently canceling the global filter. This process is time-consuming and could be streamlined significantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mixpanel is easy to set up if your product already has a structured event-based track. It can get data from a data warehouse, through integrations with other software, or directly from your product, implemented with the SDK.
Once you get the data in, gaining insights from it is even easier. Even non-technical personnel can make dashboards and effortlessly cross events with different cohorts. Its templates make it painless to get from 0 to one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mixpanel is only a medium. You need to do your homework and get a deep understanding of your user behaviors, what actions they do on your product, and structure it into events to Mixpanel to be able to track it correctly.
The learning curve of this process is steep, which is not directly related to the tool, but it does not make it easier and you might see yourself over-dependent on developer resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
From an end-user perspective, Mixpanel is very simple to use and, with a little practice, becomes very intuitive. Furthermore, the way in which the format of the available reports was structured makes it much easier to construct product analyses.
I know that I haven't yet mastered the full power of the product, for instance I only discovered the "Mixpanel Apps" because a colleague actively told me about the functionality. But with what I currently know about the product and the features I use is possible to make informed decisions. Now I use Mixpanel almost everyday. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The process of implementing the tool is not extremely complex, but I missed greater technical support.
We are currently experiencing issues with the way we are counting and calculating some user data, which will likely result in considerable adjustments to the way we integrate with the platform. I believe this could have been avoided if we had had access to more information and more help when implementing the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of the most impactful updates Mixpanel released recently in 2024 is the reason it is here to stay within our rotation of product analytics tools, and that was the ability to build funnel reports and include conversion rate metrics within the context of tables. We use this feature update so widely to report on different conversion funnels that we need to split out by many dimensions. This has been immensely helpful for our E-Commerce team, our video engineering teams, our marketing teams, and our monetization teams who want to observe overall conversion but also want to view these metrics at multiple levels of aggregation and granularity. It has been immensely helpful and saves significant time in comparison to building out these reporting metrics manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The custom properties interface is buggy at times. Activating the drop-down to select properties requires multiple presses of the dot symbol (.).
You can't use the "hold property constant" feature on funnels with custom properties. This would be very useful due to different product events having different structures of data. Some events may have "propertyA" at the root level (Example.propertyA) but other events may have the property nested within an object (Example.detail.propertyA). I would like to be able to create a custom property that can then be held constant in a funnel.
The (not set) value is not selectable as a property value in filters. This would be helpful in reporting when we want to filter to a time before a property was introduced or in filtering for multiple values on a property including (not set).
I wish there simpler built-in regex functions that product managers would be able to use. Not many project managers I work with understand Regex, so I typically have to come in to help design custom properties that require some understanding of Regex filters. I was impressed with how many reports/dashboards I had available to me as soon as we starting capturing events in our mobile app. It was as if it already understood our data without me having to massage it at all, so I was able to immediately begin gaining insights from the reports. We've had a handful of instances where metrics captured in the mobile app while the user was offline (no internet connection) didn't make it to the central repository. It's only happened a couple of times, so it's not enough of a problem that we have spent any time digging into it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the freedom it gives me as a Product Manager to easily tap to data about my products usage and get significant insights.
For me, as a PM, it means that I can easily come to discussions where I need to state my opinion about a certain direction the product should go with and that provides baseline for the discussions.
In addition, as someone who also manages PMs, it creates the same discussion for products I want to get oversight on.
This help us align OKRs and objectives across the entire company and product team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some pesky UI bugs and sometimes we have bugs in the data and I feel like we are getting moderate support for them asking us to go through many tedious steps on our own instead of helping us out figuring them out.
A few months back I approached with several bugs and I got referenace to a lot of articles to read to try and resolve them and that wasn't extremely helpful, some of these bugs still persist. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mixpanel is an intuitive platform that enables all business stakeholders to access and generate power behavioural analytics. Advanced analysis is made readily available and easy to compile quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a large org with hundreds of mixpanel users, we are challenged with coordinating and minimising "recreating the wheel" versus encouraging full autonomy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
