Central management, granular security, great support, daily use and stability are great too. It's also easy for our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Wish we could update firmware through milestone that would then tell us if we need to update our driver packs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
provides data-driven video technology that protects people and property Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very power hungry, even the client. Hard to find drivers for camera and tricky to install them Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Milestone has one of, if not the best support infrastuctures in place. We've worked with other VMS vendors in the past and none can come close to providing the level of technical support they do. If you have an issue, they will not stop until it's resolved in a timely fashion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has a higher price point than some other products but their service justifies this cost IMO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best feature of milestone is its capability to integrate with a vast number of different products. In addition the security professionals I have worked with at Milestone are very knowledgable about their product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the in house analytics are great, but Milestones ability to integrate to other 3rd parties makes up for that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We've been using Milestone now for a number of years from back when it was Xprotect professional and now run expert and our main reason for moving was its a truly open camera system and we can use any vendor we choose for cameras. Coming from previous closed protocol systems with camera lock-in and older analogue systems its been a breath of fresh air and it means we can easily move to whichever vendor has the latest and greatest camera tech.
Installation is pretty simple and straightforward and a server can be built and running in a day depending on your estate size. Now the disk tiering has gone its also a lot easier to manage storage and the long term low framerate option is great for squeezing the best out of limited disk space.
We also use the free 5-camera version for little clusters of research cameras. Really handy for setting up quick little networks for specific tasks.
I'd also mention the gpu encode/decode support has really helped in the later versions. I'd love to see AMD and ARC support instead of just Nvidia, but this has allowed us to run an entire videowall from one PC with a couple of relatively low spec Nvidia cards. Support of late has been problematic. We used to be able to log calls on the milestone portal, but now you have to go via a partner and our partner is not very responsive. Being able to log directly was a major benefit that saves time and a lot of hassle.
Migration to new hardware is getting better, but its still not great the backups from the system will only restore to the same hardware. I'd like to be able to replace the server and do a restore.
It would also be good to have some more intelligence/AI/ML etc. Back when we first started using milestone it was cutting edge, but we are seeing features on-camera on our latest models that can do a lot of things we wish Milestone could. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
it can wildly to interface with other security camera, like Hikvision or DaHua manufacture, at the same time, it can work with building managament system of Siemens Deisgo CC system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
