Top Rated Mattermost Alternatives

Being an engineer myself, I liked the ease of setting it up quickly and rolling it to our staff. It is highly customizable and responsive. We never got any issues or errors till now except internet outage which will stop the backups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything is great as first of all the product is free and open source for self hosting, I couldn't complain anything but there are some necessary features which could be kept free of cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mattermost is the best platform where we can arrange meetings and communicate with team members. Also, it's providing different features like channels, file sharing, screen sharing, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes I am facing issues with voice while I am on the call. The other person is not able to listen to my voice, and we have to stop metting in the middle; that needs to be solved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Free version works like a charm. It has all the necessary features. It is very similar to Slack. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a Slack user before, it lacks the integration with other 3rd party application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best about Mattermost is its flexibility and customization. It’s open-source, which means we can tailor it to fit our team’s specific needs, unlike other platforms. It also integrates well with a lot of third-party tools we already use, so it fits right into our workflow. The user interface is clean and easy to navigate, and I appreciate that it supports multiple channels for organizing conversations and projects. Plus, it offers solid privacy and security options, which are important for our team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One downside of Mattermost is that it can sometimes feel less polished compared to other collaboration tools. There are occasional bugs. Also, the search functionality could be better; it’s not always easy to find older messages or files. While the customization is great, it does require more technical knowledge to set up and maintain, which can be a hassle for smaller teams without dedicated IT support. Ease of implementation can be improved as currently, one needs to remember the server name in order to download and use the app on a new device Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like Mattermost for its open-source nature, secure messaging and customizable integrations. It offers self-hosting options, rich collaboration features and seamless team communications, espically for organizations prioritizing privacy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike Mattermost for its steeper learning curve and ocasionally inconsistent user interface. It can be resource-intensive and its mobile app expirence isn't smooth compared to other messaging platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think Mattermost also has a great UI/UX Design, since new users can easily navigate this tool. It's a very convenient tool to use to chat within teams at work, the best part for me though would be how I can download and access it from my personal phone too- something not a lot of chatting services offer if they are linked to the organisations VPN. On my phone because I close the app, its okay or else it eats up a lot of my battery on my laptop. Additionally, I think external applications like teams- they allow you to upload files easily- contradict on Mattermost you have to physically copy and paste the link to attack a file which can be a hassle Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
file sharing , search functionality , custmizable notification features are also good Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
i find the interface less smooth compared to other platforms like Slack, and mobile app performance occasionally lag. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
