The tool provides more control on the Documents and Training. It helps to track the changes, approvals, rejections copies, etc. MC provides Signature Manifest and it meets all medical device QMS software requirements which will help to pass the Audit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

All of the different portals are quite similar in how they are used and therefor what you learn how to do or establish in one often translates to another. So learning it and gaining competency is fairly quick. As a business involved in the life sciences we rely on it for use during audits with the governing body. Some of our users find it confusing or unhelpful if they don't intuitively know the functions. I myself have used and encourage others to use the numerous options for self training and customer support materials to gain ew skills and acquire knowledge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything is faily straight forward once you get into the system and get used to it. Everything is always in the system so its about "searching criteria". I love that there are multiple tool at your finger tips to get help if something isn't right or if you are lost. The customer service and the Cafe are so helpful and easy to navigate. It was a lot to process at first with configuration and trying to buil the system to your companies needs. There was a lot of trial and error and just basically learning a new language. You need to have patience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
MasterControl provides a well-developed document management system. Their team strives to improve and grow their product. They provide numerous configuration options to cover potential areas where customers may want to expand the software. The modular software allows adding only the features that are needed. Most of the software is centered around life sciences and the medical industry. This leads to the inclusion of many more checks and balances in the system than we require as a manufacturer that only seeks to meet to ISO 9001. There are configuration options available to fit our situation so this is only a minor issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My favorite thing about MasterControl is the Process Module; I love building eForms for the company to use instead of paper forms. The excel template was scary at first, but I love figuring out how to put keywords in the template to make the eForm even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Probably JR Reports; I wish there were a way to combine two reports simultaneously. For example, the Change Control report in MasterControl has two different Reports depending on when the new template was created. Since the Infocard numbers are different, the Reports can't combine. MasterControl (MC) has a module system that, together with the fact that it's configurable, lets you "right size" the software for your business needs. MC stays current with regulatory needs and regularly updates it software accordingly. They provide constant updates and guidance on validation.
I like how interconnected the modules are, so you can seemlessly move from NCR, to CAPA, to a document update, to training. Presents extremely well in external audits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
MC really caters to life sciences. If you are not a life science company, many of the steps in the process modules feel like overkill. Also, if you are an organization with limited quality events, the effort it takes to assign/manage the proper roles and walk through a 6-step process to execute three CAPAs a year is a hassle.
The license structure does not work particularly well for our business. Users are assigned "basic" or "full" licenses, and only people in "full" licenses can collaborate or approve documents. We have a very low task volume, but a broad range of people who may need to collaborate/approve 2 or less tasks a month. MC used to have a better system (for us) that limited the amount of people who could be concurrently logged in, but didn't require a defined, named user license. The system is validated, used broadly among the life sciences industry, including some departments in FDA.
Also, for multi-site companies and users working remotely from the US, Canada and the UK, the ability to collect electronic signatures is extremely important.
Additionally, some labs went through the transition from another eQMS into MC, and we received the feedback that MasterControl is easier to use from the end-user perspective.
From the SysAdmin perspective, I have experience with CQ (Salesforce) and I would say that MC is a lot easier to implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The tech support used to be better in the past (about 4 years ago). But now there is some room for improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've been using MasterControl’s Qx module for a just under two years now. Having everything integrated into one system is incredibly convenient. It simplifies document management, training, audits, and quality events. The document management feature is probably the most noticeable advantage. Instead of dealing with scattered paper files, everything we need is right there in the system. It’s hassle-free, and the approval process is so much smoother. It’s made it easier to keep track of what’s complete and what’s pending. Tracking employee training is another huge advantage. We use Qx to manage all of our SOP training. I no longer have to go through individual personnel files to make sure they’re up to date on their training because the system tracks everything for me. It helps keep us compliant and ensures that everyone has the knowledge they need to perform their job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It’s not all perfect. It’s not an intuitive system and the learning curve is steep, especially with some of the more complex features. There are some customization limits, but for what we need, it’s been enough. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The most helpful thing about QMS in MasterControl is the ability to deliver quality in a centralized system. The system provides methods of control that supersede what a paper system offers and allows the ability to manage workflows and documents easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I dislike MasterControl QMS because some modules are easy to understand, and others require more time and workarounds to bring the system up to speed for particular company needs. An enhancement is always helpful but is not provided immediately; thus, a user has edited the system and has to track backward to make changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
MasterControl is an excellent solution for managing quality and compliance. Its user-friendly interface, automated workflows, and real-time tracking streamline processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. The platform’s robust features help reduce risks, improve collaboration, and maintain regulatory compliance. It’s a reliable tool for organizations striving for continuous improvement and operational excellence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While MasterControl offers robust features, some users may find the initial setup and configuration complex. It can require significant time and training to fully utilize its capabilities. Additionally, customization options, though available, might feel limited for highly specific needs. Some users have also reported that occasional system updates can disrupt workflows temporarily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using MasterControl has given our company a sense of freedom where documents are being held in one place giving everyone a one system hub instead of searching in multiple places. The implementation gave the Quality and Regulatory department a sense of ease, with the customer support in our corner if help was needed. The frequency of use has skyrocketed from our former document control system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The one draw back for MasterControl would be not being able to run reports based on custom fields. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
