What do you like best about Mailgun?

It has been almost 4 years now that we are using mailgun. The best thing is that after setting it up, we didn't have to do anything else.

It just works and in the rare chance of a problem, the mailgun support team is very quick with a solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

Sometimes it is quite hard to pinpoint the exact problem with a suppressed email. We need to find out whether we caused it or a spam filter accidentally blacklisted us. However I would like to note that the support team is really good at handling such issues and helping us through the procedure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use mailgun for transactional emails. The benefit is that it works. I cannot stress this enough. Such solutions often require updates or make constant changes that we need to adapt to. This is not the case with mailgun, according to our experience. It is very much a "set it and forget it" solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

The speed. It's unparallelled. We had been using a gmail backed solution previously that would spend so long trying to send it would time out. These days with mailgun backing us, I'm not only confident in the speed of the solution but the platform itself will attempt to re-send our correspondence without prompting so I can be assured everything I want to send will arrive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

Whilst there is very little to dislike with the product, the associated dashboard has some unfavourable quirks; if you operate on multiple domains (as I do for a development and LIVE environment) it will often re-assign which subdomain you're viewing as you move across the menus, meaning when you arrive at your intended page you may be observing the wrong data even if you had selected the correct subdomain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Don't be afraid to build your own templating tools; Mailgun gladly accepts HTML. Definitely make use of the sandbox and if you're an EU user there is an option for a solution that is Europe-based. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

With mailgun we're able to send a higher volume of email than ever, something we've taken advantage of by offering more frequent updates to our users, reminders of their appointments with us, updates on their subscriptions with us and notifications for their accounts. Such a volume would not previously have been possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

It's the ideal service to complement shared hosting plans where you may be issued dodgy IP addresses and need something more robust and secure to send your transactional emails out with, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

The only negative experience I've had with Mailgun is when using the API to send to multiple recipients at one go. The instructions weren't sufficient clear to me and I ended up sending one email with all my recipients' email address in the To field instead of one email to each recipient. Had to do some damage control after the complaints started coming in. Now that I've figured it out, it's working well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Give it a try, you may find that it's what you are looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mostly to send and track transactional emails. Makes it easier to view the mail logs as well as not all hosting plans give you access, or make it easy for you to check them. You can even give clients access to view the logs themselves. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

MG has great ability in email delivery. It’s also really reliable as I have not heard my website users complaining about not receiving emails. The sort of new intuitive design makes me like MG even more! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

Nothing to complain really (which is why I’m still with MG until today). I was just hoping that we have a mobile app (or even just a responsive design enough to fit reports/graphs in mobile browsers). In short, maybe MG can improve its current web design into a more mobile friendly state. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Just try it and you’ll like it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main problem MG has helped me solving is ensuring mail’s deliverability and ensuring mails don’t go into my user’s Spam folder. Ever since I use MG, I have not received any complaints from my users regarding lost mails (as opposed to other mail services I used to test along MG back then). What do you like best about Mailgun?

Mailgun is free and simple, yet secure and easy to setup. As well as this they have an excellent support team who are not only knowledgeable but also friendly and very quick at answering questions well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

There's nothing to dislike about Mailgun and it's difficult to think of anything to fault it on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Mailgun is delightfully simple and easy to use and setup. It's fast and it even offers a free tier for those of us who do not send out more than 10,000 emails. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mailgun has made it so easy to integrate reliable mail delivery into our websites and takes the pain of setting up a mail server away with a simple PHP script to send emails. The fact it's free is even more amazing, and we've got many different clients now onto Mailgun. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

I was able to get a mail server up and running relatively quickly. And I can track what is going on with the messages I'm sending to a few hundred users every week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

I can't say that I dislike anything. Mailgun does what I need it to, and does so with no drama. It's like the power - it always works and it's always on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use it for two things. One is to send emails via their SMTP server implementation. This sends a 50-75 emails a week, and once a year it sends out a blast of a few hundred. I can see what was sent and when.

I also use the Javascript API to send out messages from an AWS Lambda function. That is lower volume but pretty important too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

Mailgun is really an coolest tool for sending the emails at work in bulk. It also has an email to verify the email address of any user which very much helps in verifying that the user is a real person. Also attaching the attachments to the email is a very easy task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

Actually I've started using Mailgun one month ago and still I have not completely utilized this tool. I have not found any cons yet but if I found any, I will update my review for sure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Mailgun works great when it comes to track emails and send and receive the emails in the industry, so it is recommended by me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mailgun is used by me daily in my industry where I have to send the emails in bulk and where I daily receive so many requests to create the account, it helps so much. Also organizing and managing the emails of your industry using this tool is very easy. It also allows to track the emails so it is an great asset. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

Simple API, typical featureset.for services in this field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

48 hour ticketing unless you pay $350 a month. An IP I was sharing got onto the SpamCop list (not because of my sending) and I was unable to get mailgun to take action on this for more than 24 hours, even after upgrading to the $79 a month plan. Apparently you need to pay $350 a month for even chat support. That is $15 a month at sendgrid. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Use another product, or pay >=$350 a month. Otherwise you could get badly stuck being unable to send email, like I did. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mailgun was supposed to make email delivery simple for me. Instead it has left me stuck being unable to send mail. I will be migrating to another offering and not be working with Mailgun in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
