It's a free service if you want it to be, but for higher volumes a cost is involved. Being free makes it an ideal choice for developers who need to be able to send emails, but without the burden of having to spend money. Being able to create credentials is straight forward and integration is well documented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be a little complicated for a novice as there is a lot to take in and understand. However, the documentation is helpful, although it can be a little confusing in places. Thankfully their support team is fantastic and responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that I can use mailgun to send emails via the api from our school web application and then track the opens and clicks using mailgun. I also like that I can setup mailgun webhooks to receive events happening into my web application and then I can act on those events Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like the retention period of logs especially for the free plan. After 5 days you are not able to access these logs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have been developing systems for dozens of startups over the last decade. Mailgun is the best choice for mail integration since I can test concepts in low volume mode with a free subscription. But Mailgun's functionality is super powerful; I love the routes feature which allows me to build crucial functionality right within Mailgun. Logs are 100% reliable. I have not had a functionality requirement so far I could not implement with Mailgun. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I could not think of anything I would dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mailgun is honestly the easiest, and simplest way to send email to the consumer, I have never run into issues, and their support is probably one of the best teams I've ever had to contact. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mailguns interface is a little behind if you compare it to other applications of their size. it's fast and responsive, but it could be much "prettier" Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mailgun gets out of your way and lets you do what you need to. No complaints, it's exactly the service you want. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The web interface is a little bloated. I would prefer something that uses less memory & which loads faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Retriggering is absolutely essential for a company like mine. Mailgun gun makes it easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pricing could be a bit more affordable, but no real complaints. Good platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can monitor bounces and unsubscribes easily by checking reports and I love that they are broken down individually into invalid emails, complaints, and unsubsubscribes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When we need something with the API's I have to have our tech support step in. If I go a little while without checking I do sometimes forget where to go to check the reports and I spend a little time clicking on things I don't need until I find them. Last night I found them under messages, which I thought was an odd place. So that isn't as intuitive as it was in the past. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

How easy the API is. To be able to easily find librarires and Docs was awesome! It is all very easy to understand and implement. The stats page is really nice too - I enjoy being able to see what the message content is of messages that failed. This would be better if it held them longer, at least the faliures but I am being lazy as I haven't setup webhooks for this yet. I suppose if you want to keep an api pure it makes sense. I would probably do the same thing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That you do not offer mailbox storage or spam boxing. Now that I saw the rest of these questions I see you do offer this, I am going to have to dig a bit more to find out about these features. Replies repsonse could be helpful. I know that "noreply" makes sense when you get down to it but people still reply and I still have to explain to people that these messages are lost. perhaps a good default catch all? Again, I understand the hooks - just haven't gotten to it yet. Maybe in 2019 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
API oriented provider, super quick support. The emails are sent fast and in a reliable way.
It is fast to implement due they also provide a SDK for PHP. We can finish the implementation super quick..

They don't offer a way to create and store template for my emails. Or at list it is not easy to find or it don't come with the free account.
Mu marketing colleague complains that the only way we found to enable email stats is to implement and pay for another service "Ongage"-
There are PHP frameworks and it would be nice if they receive a bit of Mailgun support to enable a full featured inteface with them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Previously, handling incoming and outgoing email in an application was a tedious process. Even setting an application up to send out email notifications was something of a burden, and parts of the process were black boxes where locating problems was difficult and time consuming.
Mailgun takes all of those pain points away by providing flexible endpoints easy-to-use libraries that make it easier to not only send or receive an email in your project, but to see exactly how those actions took place.
If a message isn't arriving for a customer, it's easy to see when that message was generated and if any problems were encountered along the way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My least favorite part of Mailgun is that log retention is seen as a benefit of their tiered pricing, and not as a core feature of the software.
Compared to vendors like Twilio or Stripe where you pay only for usage and the logs are available perpetually, Mailgun only gives pay-as-you-go users access to the previous 5 days of logs until you start paying a flat monthly fee. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
