What do you like best about Logi Symphony?
Ability to white label all aspects of the Logi platform. Within our web platform, Logi controls can seamlessly live alongside home-grown elements without feeling choppy or disrupting the user experience. The Logi offering provides a nice mix of features, allowing us to design and publish more intricate, complex reports developed within Logi Studio, while also allowing our clients and users to develop their own reports and dashboards via the Logi Self Service Module, which offers a fairly powerful interface for analyzing, visualizing, and sharing reports and dashboards.
Logi offers high-quality documentation via an intuitive web portal. Overall, their account management team is friendly, knowledgeable, and a supportive partner. Even if the account manager doesn't have an answer to something, they will refer us to the appropriate resource, which can usually provide a response in a short period of time. We pay for the premium support, and find the support team to be quick and generally helpful in the responses they provide. As a technology partner, Logi does reach out to share information about new features and they've engaged us with opportunities to serve as early adopters/collaboration partners for new features in development. What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?
Based on our current needs, I don't have any major issues with the organization or its software. There have been a few minor inconveniences, but nothing significant:
In the two years we've worked with the Logi team, we've seen a bit of turnover with our account managers, though it appears the transitions have all been the result of professional development/growth, so I can't fault them for their commitment to their employees.
A recent (minor) software release did not have any release notes/documentation posted to their portal for a few weeks, which caused us to hold off on moving forward, though it was subsequently posted.
Based on our recent contract renewal (our first), it felt that Logi's development/sales approach is to evolve a feature set to a certain place, and then to brand further updates as a new module, requiring separate licensing/renegotiation during contract renewal. While I understand this approach (they obviously need to bring in revenue to support product development) and I feel like we ultimately landed in a fair place for our current contract, I am more sensitive to the fact that more significant software updates could result in cost increases based on this pricing strategy. What do you like best about Logi Symphony?
The ease of use and productivity gain in developing BI projects. Logi Simphony is a great product with awesome features, like an ETL layer with cache on it, pixel perfect dahboards and reports, data annotation, email and data driven notifications and so much more. What do you like best about Logi Symphony?
Integration of various types of data sources is simple and easy; even with multiple ETL steps and data enrichment features, you still can easily navigate the tool. Using JavaScript and CSS, you can step up functionalities and make them custom to your objectives—a good amount of built-in graphs and charts that would handle diverse reports and data formats.
Dundas BI is my go-to data viz tool for making a highly customized dashboard! I have used it every day, for at least 6-7 hours a day, for the last 16 months. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?
The product has many "gotchas" and some unwanted behaviours that sometimes are not solved by support or future updates. Despite customer support being very responsive, the time it takes for a solution can be months long, and some don't have a solution. Intermittent bugs and some other types of faulty features
The Developer Seat limitation is also an immense dislike on Dundas BI, as you can only develop and fully edit with limited user seats, creating an unnecessary paywall for customers. At the same time, the supplier operations costs are not being impacted by this. A different license system, in that sense, would be beneficial.
Removing the forum discussions was a big setback as there was no way to connect with others and explore the many use cases and scripting one could use to solve the problem. Dundas BI documentation is shallow and sometimes ambiguous, so if the customer support is sometimes limited and there is no community or board to share/absorb knowledge, how will the developers make the product better? Dundas, included in Logi Symphony, is a highly flexible tool - every data visualization can be almost endlessly modified. I'm still working to learn the "scripting" features which open up even more options but require a much more detailed understanding of python which isn't needed for the more basic work. What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?
There are a few "unhappy Easter eggs", such as that if a formula returns a null in the first row of a table then all of the rows won't show data, even though the formula is valid for them.
There's an opportunity to improve the software by adding feedback on what is wrong when a metric set fails. Often the failure report is generic and doesn't provide detail or actionable feedback. Honestly, what makes Logi Symphony a lifesaver is how user-friendly it is. I'm not a data whiz, but I can drag and drop my way to clear, insightful reports. The interface of Logi syphony seems very intutive to me. The learning curve is very easy. We can learn and apply analytics very fast using this software.
