The most helpful things are: It's support for markdown language and the collaborating feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The fact that the collaborating feature is paid, it would be amazing to at least offer orgs of 3 to be free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Very easy to implement. Without external need, I had setup the docs within half an hour. I got a free call with support anyway but that was not needed at all.
- Development Workflow Integration: Easily edit documentation directly within our codebase or via Gitbook’s intuitive editor.
- Unified Documentation Platform: Supports both technical (including API endpoint docs) and user-friendly documentation in a single platform.
- GitHub and GitHub Actions Integration: Streamlined and efficient automation through GitHub integrations, which makes it possible to have docs updates in a flow whenever an update on the application is made.
- Nice looking documentation: I just like the layout of Gitbook. Which matters when people have to read your documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Currently lacks functionality for automatically triggering documentation updates based on code changes, requiring manual intervention. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Besides the incredible support that engages with the client, the service by itself is absolutely awesome. Functions like exporting to PDF, MD and other formats and the integrated AI to analyze and redact the documents are some of the game-changing features that Gitbook has to offer. It's simple and pretty UI and the styles are intuitive and easy to use for both user and developer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you are looking out for a place to work with your team you need to be willing to pay for a plan. But if you are a NGO or lead an open source project you can have the community plan for free! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GitBook excels at making technical documentation accessible and collaborative. Its clean, intuitive interface allows teams to create well-structured documentation without requiring extensive technical knowledge. The real-time collaboration features are exceptional, enabling multiple team members to work simultaneously on the same document without conflicts. The version control system is robust yet straightforward, making it easy to track changes and revert when necessary. The markdown support combined with the visual editor provides flexibility for both technical and non-technical users, making it a versatile platform for various documentation needs. nothing to report, I find the 360 degree project very functional Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best about GitBook is the intuitive user interface, which makes it easy to create, organize, and publish content. The ability to collaborate with team members in real-time enhances efficiency and improves the quality of documentation. I particularly appreciate the integration with other tools as well as the quick and helpful responses from the support team – especially the personal and professional support from Rodrigo. What I don't like so much about GitBook is the limited flexibility in customizing the design and layouts. It would be helpful to have more options for individual customization. Additionally, the loading times could sometimes be faster, especially with larger projects. Occasionally, advanced export functions are also lacking, which would allow for smooth transfer of content to other formats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I discovered GitBook while attending a software workshop. The docs were so clean and clear that I knew I had to try it myself. I’m now preparing to use it with my third-year students for their term project documentation.
Thanks to GitBook’s Community plan, I’ll teach with real-world tools that inspire great writing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing major. Overall, I really like it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GitBook allows me to easily publish an online book describing an artistic project based on GitHub. As an artist using the power of Git code repositories, GitBook provides me with a unique platform that is transparent, responsive and Git-reliant. It also integrates external sources of creative work, such as Instagram and other popular media platforms. Its pagination feature and Markdown pages make my task of writing and presenting Git-based code quite enjoyable. This is why I chose it as the platform for publishing a book documenting my artistic practice, as is common in the traditional art world. I'm currently a beneficiary of their community plan, which supports my open source project in the best possible way. Their customer support is first class. All my support requests have been successfully resolved within a few days. It took me a few hours to get a book up and running : book.awalkaday.art. The book's underlying code is automatically synchronised with a public code repository on GitHub. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is no cumbersome experience when using the GitBook app online. It's available in an international language that is the lingua franca of the web. It's free to use and free to access. However, it does require some familiarity with Git (version control software). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gitbook has a great suite of rich text features for creating documentation - keeping it basic and the available styles look very elegant. The limited adaptability is a positive because it allows options, while also keeping things simple. We recently used it for an initiative where our partners were very satisfied with the results and the ability to use it for an event as supporting materials. It was very easy to implement. I felt slightly disoriented relating to navigation at times, but once the support team helped me with how the functionality is structured, it was easy to get around. There were a few technical glitches, but the support team is extremely responsive and working on any glitches that might arise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We like GitBook because it's an intuitive platform for creating, organizing, and sharing documentation. Its clean interface makes it easy to focus on writing, while powerful collaboration features ensure teamwork is seamless. With support for markdown, integrations, and version control, GitBook is a flexible tool that keeps everything organized and accessible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Can't think of anything really, but must fill this field 🙂. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The creative freedom it offers, allows me to design developer documentation that is both functional and visually appealing.
The seamless GitHub integration keeps my code and docs in perfect sync.

I have been sitting here for about 10 minutes and I can't think of anything negative. It's truly the easiest documentation tool to use and the 2 way sync with GitBook & GitHub is an absolute game changer! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
