What do you like best about Datto NAS?

The integration between the Datto NAS device and Datto's cloud backup platform makes it easy to keep your local NAS snapshots backed up off-site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datto NAS?

There is currently an issue with the Active Directory connector to the Datto Drive portion of the product that prevents AD logins from working after a NAS device restart. It requires connecting to the NAS device via SSH and issuing a command to get it working again. According to Datto, this will be resolved in a future software update. What problems is Datto NAS solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our backup plan with Datto allows for infinite retention for a fraction of the cost that building a similar solution in-house would have cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Datto NAS?

Datto NAS is a simple functional NAS device that allows you to backup both locally and in the cloud for a very fair price. It is easy to remotely administer the device so most often troubleshooting the few and far between issues can be done without an onsite visit to the client office. The Datto Drive Integration is important as it allows users outside of the local network to access shares. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datto NAS?

There are not as many protocol options as some NAS like Synology may have. The Active Directory integration could also use some work. I have seen two occasions where the AD integration completely broke leaving the users having to use a public share or use local device logins to access a share. Recommendations to others considering Datto NAS:

Set up your shares carefully and definitely check to make sure the security settings you have match what you are trying to do. use the active directory plugin to make permissions easier but do be aware that the AD integration is prone to fail. Do use the Datto drive option so that users can access the shares from outside of the company network. Set up is easy and automated so there should be no problem getting it up and going. What problems is Datto NAS solving and how is that benefiting you?

many small businesses without a need for a full blown server do well using a Datto NAS as a small file server. they are able to create network shares and use the shares even from home. Works well for windows but there are too many options
