What do you like best about Crowdin?

I have been using Crowdin for several years not and it's by far the best translation software I have ever used. The GitHub integration is seamless and we can translate our website and docs into several languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

Nothing :) it has been a great experience all around so there is not really anything I dislike! Maybe some basic UI/UX changes to make layering translations easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Crowdin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Crowdin is solving the issue of managing translations across different platforms. It has benefited us by allowing our non-English speaking audience access to our technical docs and website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Crowdin?

- Workflow management: its in the cloud. Allows creation of different workflows for different types of content on the site, support for human translation or machine translation or machine translation with post-edit (very flexible).

- Fully automated github integration with version branches.

- Integration with all the popular machine translation backends.

- Allows unlimited collaborators. Collaborators don't need to install any tools.

- Price does not depend on the number of languages to which the content is being translated.

- Easy onboarding initially: it supported multiple formats to import the existing translations.

- Very responsive and knowledgeable support team. It seems to respond within minutes 24/7.

- UI is very friendly / easy to use.

- Allows one to see and edit the translation memory.

- Import performance was better than other similar software (we have a lot of content)

- Allows in-context translation.

- Allows export of only the translated strings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

Cost, particularly for a content-heavy site Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Crowdin?

Support and github integration. These are two really strong points of this project. To get started with integration is a little daunting at first but they have a stellar live support that is second to none.

I have a couple of Thunderbird Add-ons with a lot of locales to translate - with github integration you can get a very productive and quick connection to your sources. Once you get used to the workflow translation and integration of new texts is very streamlined. I also really like how it can pull similar or equal translations from your other projects, which is definitely a time saver if you share modules between them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

The pricing is based on "hosted words" which includes strings in all locales translated - this can be punishing if you want to support many locales as an open source author and push you into a price range that is prohibitive for a small (one-man) project. Thankfully I was able to talk to their support and get to a compromise. I would definitely recommend their service to both small time users and commercial products as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Crowdin solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main problem I am solving (after moving from the now defunct Babelzilla) is to ake it easier for voluntary translators to contribute to my open source Add-ons.

Editing a json file directly is just much too inconvenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Crowdin?

Pretty simple to use. The system accepts a variety of file types. The online translation editor is top-notch. When translators need context for a string, I can attach a screenshot which auto-tags the string and add a quick comment as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

We have been using Crowdin for a few years now and have not encountered anything that I would consider as bad or missing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Crowdin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Crowdin, we were only translating our source strings to one language and were doing so in a manual process of uploading / email files back and forth with a translator. Crowdin allowed us to scale overnight to 8+ languages. We found our translation partner on Crowdin as well and have been with them since the beginning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Crowdin?

- The user interface is straightforward and we did not have many issues explaining to translators how to use Crowdin;

- Integrates well with Gitlab;

- Awesome customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

I have been using the product for over 5 years and the experience is very positive. Nothing to complain about. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Crowdin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Crowdin there was lots of going back and forth between engineers and marketers, who provided translations into the languages they knew, then ask for translations from the translation partners, and then returned everything to the engineers. Now the process is streamlined, the developer pushes new strings to Crowdin on Friday, translators translate and then he pulls the ready translations back first thing on Monday. What do you like best about Crowdin?

For me the automation possibilities allowed me to fully integrate crowdin to my application's build process. I also got translations from random community members which was lovely Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

The UI can be confusing at times and I think there could be an option to make project public so volunteers could find new ones to contribute to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Crowdin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Crowdin helps me open up my application to more users who don't speak English or just prefer to use their native one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Crowdin?

I like most things about Crowdin. All the automation options, the fact that I can upload screenshots and have it automatically detect my strings, the glossary... but what sold us on it was its GitLab integration. Now some of our developers have decided to use CLI instead, but that also worked out well, it's a quite flexible tool. Another thing I really like is the fact that the support team is always so open and helpful. This made our transition to Crowdin much smoother than it would've been otherwise. And it really is powerful, I don't think we're fully taking advantage of everything it offers yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

Some things in the UI could be improved, sure. I would also like to be able to set developer permissions, so I can invite developers to set up an integration in a project I'm managing. It would also be nice if someone other than the developer who created the GitLab integration could edit it, because sometimes people leave and then it's a bit of a hassle if you need to make changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Crowdin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Thanks to Crowdin, our translations are much more consistent, since we can take advantage of both the TM and the glossary to let translators know how they should translate certain terms or expressions. Our translation process has become more efficient and keeps improving. Now we're even considering implementing true continuous localization :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Crowdin?

Simple interface broken down by projects. Practical for 3rd party translations companies to participate in the translation workflow. It also includes at least 1 useful plugin/extension for us which is Figma. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

Interface while simple could use an uplift - a bit more modern would be great, it is starting to feel dated.

REALLY wish there was a Webflow + Crowdin plugin which there isn't ;( Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Crowdin:

I would say 'try it out', they have a FREE plan which is enough to really get a feel for the platform and they have quite a few extensions to help simplify your localization workflows... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Crowdin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Needing a central interface where our development team meets the translation company and internet stakeholders to manage our localization workflows and needs across multiple projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Crowdin?

Since migrating to Crowdin, I've received requests from multiple people to add their contributions. The UX for translators is better than github/yaml.

The github integration works well, though editing the source strings using it seems to sometimes remove existing translations when I didn't want it to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

Onboarding was extremely painful, and I had to completely change how the translations were stored to get them to recognise the existing languages I had.

The automatic language detection didn't work for any language I had except for French where it recognised about half the files. There also wasn't a button to apply the same language to all uploaded files, which is a pain if you have lots of them.

Editing source strings in my file format (yaml) also isn't supported. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Crowdin solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm working on crowdsourcing the translation of my project.

Crowdin has helped my translators easily find where I've edited strings, and provide updates without me having to tell them what I've changed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
