I was trying to compare crowdin and smartcat. Tallking about support the difference is crusial. Crowdin responds to my emails in 8 minutes. Smartcat replies never! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is no marketplace of freelance translators as in smartcat. And if you are new to localisation, it may be unclear how to work with vendors.
What do crowdin and smartcat have in common?
They both send you a welcome email offering to schedule a call to discuss all the possibilities. When you pick a time, they confirm the call, which you wait about 2 days for.
On the day of the call, when half an hour is left before the meeting, they write to you in an email that you are not a company and not a business, so we will not meet with you, sorry, we have such rules.

The GitHub integration is great and really removes the usual pains of dealing with translations. Having new strings and new translations in sync with the source code is invaluable.
The tools provided to translator clearly understand the common issues that need to be solved when translating software: string length differences, variable names that should not be translated, etc.
Customer support is responsive and will actually help you find solutions to your problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Onboarding could be easier, your are initially dropped into your dashboard without much guidance and have to figure things out by yourself which will take a bit of trial and error at first.
Integration with some languages/file formats is sometimes opinionated and does not offer simple toggles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can communicate easily with translators through the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The UI is not really intuitive, I had to ask colleagues to onboard me to the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have been using Crowdin for 4 years so far for continuous localization of our app and web services. I enjoy the interface and super friendly and helpful support team. They are literary the best and are ready to help you with any question anytime. Love the fact that it's super customizable to your needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'm not sure if it's on our side or not. Still, we've been experiencing some problems with Android platform and Crowdin - perhaps, due to security reasons our developers are unable to push strings from the branches to dev folder - as a result many mistakes occur.
Nevertheless, the Support team helped figure this out and build a process for the Android project.
Also, I was unable to make Figma plugin work - though this functionality seems very helpful if you work with mock-ups a lot. And lastly, there seems to be a mismatch when you try to upload a TB from another CAT tool. It simply doesn't allow you to do so (or, perhaps, it only happens with TBs from SmartCAT) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The folks at Crowdin are very friendly and always try to help.
The solutions they have and the hacks they come up with to solve a particular problem are pretty impressive.
Support is very prompt. You get an instant response on chat.
If there's one thing thats the best - it's Andriy - their head of customer support. He's ever willing to jump on a call and help sort out issues. And we have had a ton! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not the most easy to use tool. There are several ways to do the same thing. And this is confusing. Needs a lot more usability testing.
There's no context available to the translator.
We use a lot of screenshots (our content is technical). When it is pulled in through an integration, there's a lot of breakage! There's also no context. Only the string is pulled in and the translator doesn't see the screenshot. This makes the entire translation less than useful.
The support team try their best to help, and are very prompt. They do take pains to send screen recordings when something is not clear. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to set up.
Minimal maintenance required.
Mostly good translations.
Reasonably fast translation times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Prices could be better.
Some translations of terms in specific topics or fields are not so good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have been using CrowdIn for 4 or 5 years now, and it has made our localisation process so much easier to manager as an ongoing concern. It's very easy to add new translators or proofreaders, to ringfence them into a subset of languages, and to review and approve their translations. The process for exporting is also very simple, and has made our overall process of localisation at least twice as fast as it was before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be difficult to add a new language, but that is partially because we have a custom build output. Also, it is not clear if it is possible to remove a contributor from a project without removing their contributions as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the UI design, and how the whole webpage is structured. I like the activity tab, and easy to manage localization projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Last week I just had big trouble to integrate Google Sheets document. I've used that integration couple of months before, and it was effortless, but this time I kept getting errors that were on Crowdins Server side. Yesterday I got contacted by their Customer Success Manager, and they've added priority to my problem. Considering the pricing for their services, I would've liked that this issue was prioritized a bit sooner(I was contacted 26 hours after first Customer Support request). But other than that(integration problems), I don't have other issues with Crowdin. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
