What do you like best about Coderbyte for Employers?

We were able to create custom question sets and interviews tailored to the levels and roles we were hiring for. Their editor also was great viewing how people did and figuring out how they approached problem sets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte for Employers?

The format was pretty strict in regards to how multiple choice questions can be formatted. It would be great if there could be more flexibility in what is presented as a question Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Coderbyte for Employers solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed a pre-screener to check if candidates had any exprience at all in an automated fashion that did not require human intervention. Coderbyte filled this hole for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Coderbyte for Employers?

I researched more than 20 companies that offer assessment testing. Almost all of them wanted me to signup for a yearly, expensive subscription. This may be a good option for large corporations, but what about business than 1-2 employees? Coderbyte didn't require a long term contract and made it so I could afford to hire two new web developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte for Employers?

What is there not to like? I have a bug or two while using the service, and the owner got back to me right away. He was so grateful to get my feedback. You would never get that kind of response when communicating with a big corporate giant company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Coderbyte for Employers solving and how is that benefiting you?

I post ads for new job postings on Upwork. Then I get a ton of responses from developers all over the world. How am I supposed to know which of them really knows their stuff? That is where Coderbyte comes in to vet out all the liars and thieves who want to steal my precious time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Coderbyte for Employers?

Having a code testing tool is 100% necessary in the tech industry. There are many options in the marketplace at the moment and most of them come with a high price tag. However, Coderbyte does very nicely to compete with others, but at a much smaller cost. The product is good for its ease of use; candidates have a nice coding window, and it tries to prevent cheating where possible. One of the best features is reviewing the output of the candidate in the video, to see how they worked out the problem and how they refactored. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte for Employers?

The interface that is used for front-end development could be better and allow the interface to show changes in real-time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Coderbyte for Employers solving and how is that benefiting you?

Helping to hire candidates who know how to do the job and have a good grasp of the technicalities of building apps. This allows me to ensure the employees I hire are qualified for the role. It also gives some nice talking points during an interview as to why they made specific choices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Coderbyte for Employers?

There is a decent set of questions to choose from to help you get started. Specifically, the coding challenges provided a good variety of difficulties and focus. We found several that were appropriate for the role we were looking for.

Being able to play back candidates coding challenges was incredibly helpful in helping us more accurately review candidate work - rule out cheating, recognize natural iterative progression as candidates moved through the questions, etc.

Having multiple-choice questions and coding challenges represented in the same quiz was an excellent option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte for Employers?

The multiple-choice question sets were a little lackluster, and modifying and creating our own questions was cumbersome. Especially moving questions between sets when we wanted to duplicate individual questions (not just duplicate the whole set of questions). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Coderbyte for Employers solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used Coderbyte to screen dev candidates for basic levels of knowledge and skill competency. It helps us qualify candidates and reduce the number of calls and interviews we need to perform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Coderbyte for Employers?

The tool is very easy to use. You can setup coding challenges that provide different levels of complexity as well as choose the languages that make sense for your organization. The screen recording is also a nice feature to be able to see the candidate work through the problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte for Employers?

It would be nice to be able to select a set of questions and have it send out random ones from that selection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Coderbyte for Employers solving and how is that benefiting you?

We us Coderbyte as a pre-screening tool to evaulate if the candidate has the necessary skills before we have our engineers talk with the candidate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Coderbyte for Employers?

Coderbyte platform is very nicely structured that we can select from a range of questions, challenges and open questions for a range of roles. The quality of the questions are accurate and correctly targetted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte for Employers?

In 2 occasions, our candidates said that they have completed all the challenges, but from the assessments perpective it looks like they skipped 1-2 challenges, this resulted in them having lower mark. Not exactly sure what happened. Once we resend the assessment, they are able to complete all the challenges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Coderbyte for Employers?

Coderbyte offers the most commonly used tools for technical screening and works very well in general.

Assessments and question sets are easily created and maintained. Scoring a candidate is convenient with the summary you get in the and there are no limits for how many users you can create and tests you can have, which probably no other platform offers.

Furthermore it comes with helpful tools like cheating detection and a timeline for the coding parts that allows us to easily detect cheating attempts.

We don't use the interview tool so far, but it looks good and is there.

Support is very helpful and replies quickly.

All in all a great tool and uncontested in the price. I'm really happy with our choice to migrate to Coderbyte. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte for Employers?

We found 1 or 2 bugs in the coding templates that made our live harder in migrating from another platform. We were able to work around them pretty easily, but finding the issues took some time and we had quite a few tests where the candidates failed with our coding task because of that. If you do not want to worry about that, I recommend choosing from the task library they offer.

I'm a fan of multiple select questions, which is unfortunately not supported (yet?). Therefore I have to rephrase a more complicated multiple select question into a multiple choice question, which feels ackward from time to time and will not be as difficult afterwards anymore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Coderbyte for Employers solving and how is that benefiting you?

Screen candidates and rate their technical skills before inviting them to technical interviews. Coderbyte helps us to save time in the recruiting process by only inviting promising candidates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
