Auto update has had a positive impact on our patch management process, as it ensures that all our devices receive the latest updates of all applications deployed through JAMF. For organisations with a larger number of Macs it would be great if there was a local cache option, so that the updates are only downloaded from the Internet once and can then be distributed around the corporate network without using any additional Internet bandwidth. Auto-Update has filled the hole in Jamf for Patch Management. This software frees up my time when it comes to patch management and packaging applications as this takes away the time to package updates and new software. This is a simple software to integrate and to configure for Jamf, during the integration you are shown how to use Auto-Update and I was very surprised in how easy this is to use. For this software to fully work you need two configuration profiles and one policy, as soon as this is done Auto-Update is ready to go. Auto-Update has a massive range of software in the catalogue which as long as a policy is created this will then push out the installation of the software which has been configured either via Self Service or hidden in the background making the installation and configuration of this works like magic as this can take no more then a minute or two to get setup.
