What do you like best about Applied?

The ability to hear what candidates think about the tasks they will be doing in post. It's good to see their thought process and how they have/would tackle the task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

Timewasters. There have been instances where some of the questions have been left blank. And when candidates don't meet the requirements stated in the JD but still apply. Is there a way to add questions to the candidate review and not allow them to apply if they don't meet them? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Applied solving and how is that benefiting you?

Taking out unconscious bias from recruitment. Less time sifting through applications and allowing us the flexibility to decide when to send appliations for sifting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lauren Dove of Applied

Hello! Thanks for reviewing Applied; we're so glad you're having success with our product, and it's helping you save time hiring.

Candidates shouldn't be able to leave sift questions blank, so if you experience this again, please contact us so we can look into this for you - hello@beapplied.com. Also, it might be helpful to know that we enable dealbreaker questions to help identify which candidates may not be eligible for the job. You can read more about setting these questions up here: bit.ly/DealbreakerQuestions.

Many thanks, Lauren

Applied Overview

What is Applied?

Applied is the essential platform for unbiased hiring. We often make decisions without realising that our unconscious biases play a role. This can even happen when we have good intentions, so naturally, it will creep into our hiring decisions. Applied offers a solution to reduce this bias when hiring to improve traditional methods. We're trying to create a fairer world, one hire at a time! Our platform has been designed to help our customers find the best talent for their open positions. We do this by leveraging skills-based assessments, which focus on each candidate's skills and abilities that will help them be successful in a role. When using Applied to hire, you can expect up to a fourfold increase in the ethnic diversity of candidates and three times as many suitable candidates. You'll receive analytics at every step of the process so you can feel confident that you're making the best hiring decisions possible. When organisations transform the way they hire, they not only discover the very best candidates, they help usher in a world where everyone feels a sense of inclusion, equity, and belonging. What do you like best about Applied?

It's easy to use, and makes the shortlisting process much quicker - both for shortlisters and on the admin side.

Candidates who are genuinely interested in the role and the organisation seem to like it, and I don't mind losing candidates who are put off by having to express interest beyond a CV and covering letter.

It helps us show that we're concerned about diversity and inclusion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

I do find it hard to search and save questions and review guides - it always seems to save them as new questions, and then says I the questions I have on the role are too similar. I've got round it, but it's a niggle.

Honestly, the only real downside is the cost. It is well priced, but we are a relatively small charity who aren't constantly recruiting, and it is a big commitment for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Applied solving and how is that benefiting you?

It allows us to demonstrate our commitment to diversity and inclusion in the recruitment process.

It enables colleagues to shortlist at their own pace and in their own time - and it frees admin time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lauren Dove of Applied

Thank you for your positive feedback about Applied! We're glad you find it easy to use and that it has made the shortlisting process quicker for you and your team. We're committed to helping customers make their processes more efficient. We love that you've had positive candidate feedback as well!

We appreciate your feedback about searching and saving questions when role building; I've passed it on to our product team. Our friendly support team would also be happy to help if needed. They can answer urgent or technical questions at hello@beapplied.com. The inbox is monitored from 9am to 5pm BST, Monday to Friday.

Regarding the cost, we understand that it can be a big commitment for smaller organisations and thank you for your support. I'll pass this feedback to the team as well. We're always keen to hear about how our customers feel.

Thank you for using Applied and for your valuable feedback!

Many thanks,

Lauren

What do you like best about Applied?

The tool is very easy to use and it is imperitive that we use this tool for recruitment purposes to ensure that our adverts remain inclusive. We require to use this frequently and we haven't had any issues at all.

The tool can be used effectively my more than one user and the results are very fast and provide details that we can feed back to our stakeholders.

I would recommend to anyone! The customer support is fantastic and the responses are fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

There is nothing specifically that I do not like about Applied Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Applied solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Applied?

Applied gives you a ton of tools and data-backed approaches to remove as much inherent bias as possible from your hiring process. They don't pretend there is a silver bullet, but through their ATS provide a whole range of different tools to help you build a hiring process that makes sense for your organisation, while also bringing in as many best-practice elements as possible to create a genuinely fair and high quality interview and recruitment process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

You can tell that Applied's experience is first and foremostly in hiring and building a fair hiring methodology backed up by science, and secondly in UI and UX. The interfaces are not always super intuitive and are a little clunky to use. We would certainly prefer it this way round though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Applied solving and how is that benefiting you?

Enabling us to build a hiring system that is structured, backed by data and proven methodologies, and above all fair and de-biased. It allows us to have confidence that the way we're hiring is delivering a great outcome for us as a company, and is genuinely fair for candidate.s Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Thanks for your feedback regarding the UI and UX aspects of the platform. We continuously work to improve the user interface and experience to make it more intuitive and user-friendly.

What do you like best about Applied?

As per the title - you can set up the manner of screening you would like to adopt, by creating and maintaining an archive of questions to ask potential interviewees, testing their expertise and experience Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

I have found that on one occasion that I looked to duplicate and re-advertise a role, but I wasn't able to start it afresh (which could have been my lack of skill) and so had applicants who had applied before not being able to re-apply due to being screened out previously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Applied solving and how is that benefiting you?

Creates objective screening of potential recruits and removes any unconscious biases Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lauren Dove of Applied

Hi Niall. Thanks very much for your review of Applied; we're pleased to hear you like the Sift Question Library. It's a great place to be inspired or re-use questions!

I'm sorry to hear that you had trouble re-advertising a role in the past; if you ever have trouble with this again, please don't hesitate to contact our support team, and they will gladly help you (hello@beapplied.com).

It's fantastic to hear that Applied has helped you address unconscious biases and facilitate objective screening in your recruitment process. Helping to reduce biases is our core goal, and we're glad to contribute to creating fair and inclusive hiring practices.

Many thanks again,

Lauren

What do you like best about Applied?

Applied has made us really think about our recruitment processes to ensure that they are as fair and inclusive as possible. Despite some initial hesitation, our hiring managers have come to enjoy reviewing applications based on sift questions rather than lengthy cover letters. The product team are regularly adding new features which is great in challenging us to think about alternative ways we can be assessing candidates! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

The one particular challenge that comes to mind is the time spent thinking about the design of the sift questions. We don't always get it quite right, but over time we have got better at this (and for ensuring we allow time to design these questions before going live with an advert) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Applied solving and how is that benefiting you?

Ensuring our recruitment processes are as fair and inclusive as possible and challenging us to think about alternative ways we can be assessing candidates! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lauren Dove of Applied

Hi Graham, thanks for your glowing review of Applied! We're always striving to ensure that our software meets the needs of our customers and the challenges they face, so please do reach out if your team needs any extra support with any new features.

What do you like best about Applied?

The aspects of Applied that I find most helpful are the candidate communication option, candidate management page, scheduling integration/booking link and ease of saving content as you go. I use Applied daily, so I appreciate the UX for most functions! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

It would be great to have an easier way to view the communications you've had with the candidates. It would be very helpful to have an embedded log/quick way to see who has been sent what. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Applied solving and how is that benefiting you?

Applied is helping us sort through a "shiny CV" and assists us in getting to know what the candidate has to offer. Applied has helped us make unbiased selections for our hiring and guides us to the most qualified and passionate candidate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lauren Dove of Applied

Applied helps us to review applicants in a non-biased way, levelling the playing field for those with the right skills and experience! The sift questions allow us to check how someone would perform in work-based scenarios even if they don't have prior experience in this area and the CV reviews help us to look for the right information across applicant CVs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

What do you like best about Applied?

- Anonymisation of answers and capacity to request CVs

- Easy to shortlist

- Easy to schedule interviews

- Easy to contact candidates

- We've had good quality candidates and filled most posts on the first round of recruitment Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Applied?

- Set up can feel a bit clunky and difficult to see what's missing

- Interview meeting invites do not update so interview panel end up with two calendar invites - one scheduled and one once the candidate has accepted, which can be confusing

- It would be good if reporting were available for all sample sizes Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Applied solving and how is that benefiting you?

Reducing the need for manual anonymisation.

Putting onus of shortlisting questions/ratings on the hiring managers rather than on HR. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
