I like that the user experience is really flexible and meets the main needs of most enterprises. The Connected Planning experience a good implementation can give to its customers is a high-end solution that works really well. The platform constantly expands and is market competitive, the multiple integration options allow the system to communicate and seamlessly fit in any existing environment. Having been exposed to the gritty back-end work and not only the shiny front-end, there are things that can be enhanced in the way the dimensions work and the way the engine performs - being a live system means any blocking action cripples user experience for everyone involved. Anaplan is an easy-to-use SaaS platform with global coverage. Over the last 10 years, they have adopted the best-in-class funcitonalities on their platform to rival other big players in the EPM space such as Oracle, SAP and TM1. It is used for enterprise wide planning and improving collaboration among various teams within an organisation from finance to sales, HR, marketing, tax, operations and treasury to name a few. The platform uses simple drag and drop functionality along with excel-like scripting to build models and front-end pages, resulting in quicker adoption times for both end-users and new model builders and making implementation a breeze. The Anaplan REST API can be leveraged to connect the system to other existing ERPs and master data source system to ensure integrity of data across an enterprise. While Anaplan has recently produced some exceptional functionalities like geo-mapping and workflow, and has a strong roadmap with GenAI coming into the picture soon, a lot of these capabilities (such as Workflow, or the new Polaris engine) come at an additional cost to customers. A lot of times customers are discouraged from using these features due to the additional price tag. This prevents consultants and partners like us from leveraging the full power of Anaplan to implement for the customer. However, the minimum/basic features that come with an enterprise licence are sufficient for a great start to the Anaplan journey. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like Anaplan's planning and modeling features, intelligent engine, user experience, extensibility and scalability. Anaplan connects people, data and plans like no other with their unified cloud platform. New features and functionalities are incorporated into the platform on a frequent basis which enhance the product's value proposition and usability significantly. Auditability of line items can be enhanced by adding extra features like saved views references, filter references, UX page references etc. Ability to natively view the size consumed by a line item (not just cell count) can greatly help with size impact analysis. Detailed error logging and scheduler accuracy can be improved in Cloudworks. Native support for allowing input/breakback and calculation logic in the same line item can be added to further boost platform adoption in Retail Planning use cases. Model Customization - It truly is an open box. This can be a double edge sword if not implemented right, or if requirements are not understood during development, but otherwise this allows for great flexibility in how things could be planned.
Traceability- With formula drill downs, input cell user history, and model history there are a multitude of ways to track and audit end figures in Anaplan. This is nice sitting in a finance team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Two major sticking points for me, Cube size and lack of ALM in the UX.
Cube Size - Unless you use Anaplan's Polaris models, it can become cumbersome to have many (or large) dimensions planned together. This can lead to size restraints, resorting to managing composite/concatenated list structures.
No ALM in the UX - Currently there is not a way to publish dashboard changes to a DEV environment, and then push them seamlessly to a UAT or PROD environment. As a result, it requires copying pages & repointing them - as an alternative of publishing changes across all Dev/UAT/Prod UX pages simultaneously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Anaplan is a great tool for taking companies to the next level of planning capabilities. The ability to connect an enterprise in real time drives down the time and cost of running a planning cycle and pivoting based on new challenges and changing variables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can take a while to get used to the model building approach and reshaping your brain to think in multidimensional terms, especially if coming from a traditional planners toolkit (Excel). I will say the training does a good job of being thorough and on demand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Anaplan is an intuitive and comprehensive financial planning tool that simplifies budgeting, tracking expenses, and managing investments. It is designed with a user-friendly interface, making it easy for beginners to navigate. The setup process is straightforward, requiring users to do their BAU activities what they were doing in excel, in Anaplan pretty easily. The customer support is very involved and have 24/7 support for any technical queries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Issue: Complex dimensional queries can be resource-intensive and may slow down report generation.
Impact: Slow performance can frustrate users and limit the utility of real-time reporting.
Limited tool capabilities can restrict the types of analyses that can be performed.Slicing and dicing in Excel addin can be downplayer Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1)ADO(Anaplan Data Orchestrator) seamless integration with different systems with very minimal develpoers effort and replacing the data HUB model. 2)Workflow helps to manage the process with time to time notifications/alerts. 3)New user experience is the game changer with management reporting. 4) Community user helps to get clarifications regarding the platform. 5) Introduction of Hyper model architecture to plan with huge data volumes at the most granular level. 1)Few commonly used formulas in excel are not available, but we can implement workarounds to get the results. 2) Performance issues when dealing with complex logic with huge data volumes. 3) Developer experience and NUX still have scope to improve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

High scalability, Auditing, and all the other features make Anaplan an enterprise solution
Customer support helps get through any hurdles at a much faster pace Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its single-threaded nature makes it sometimes hung if something is running already, for instance, a data load process or something related to a wrong command, etc. which puts all the users on a halt for a few seconds Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The biggest Strength of Anaplan is its ability to connect disparate planning processes and enhance planning rigor, transparency, and tracability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The biggest weakness of Anaplan is the lack of data integration and data wrangling options without purchasing an add-on license for their data orchecstrator tool or acquiring a third party ETL tool with connectors to Anaplan. This limitation results in increased time-to-value and decreased overall value as a result of the additional monetary and time investment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
