What do you like best about Amazon Route 53?

Its very reliable, easy to integrate with most of the AWS services. Cost effective as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Route 53?

The AWS UI for the Route 53 is bit confusing. We normally use terraform to do most of our infra related automation, apparently ,creating hosted zones with terraform is not very straightforward.

DNS change propagation sometimes takes forever. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Amazon Route 53 solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use AWS route 53 to expose our public and private endpoints(URLS). We mostly use Private hosted zones for our inter VPC communication and have sum public hosted zone with NLBs to expose services on public domain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

At my workplace, Amazon Route 53 is a game-changer in terms of managing our DNS Infrastructure. With this, we don't need to worry about downtime which impacts our services because Route 53 has a robust infrastructure that ensures large high availability and fast resolution of DNS queries.

The simplicity of navigation comes integrated with AWS as a service. And another web service can select it from a drop-down. It is pre-configured, and we don't have to mount anything manually. Additionally, we can use its latency-based routing feature, which works best when we serve websites with AWS CloudFront. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Route 53?

Although it is very fluid to set up and packs many features based on real-world problems, it binds you to use AWS services as it works best/natively with them. it provides gain in performance as no third-party integration is required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Amazon Route 53 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Route 53 has lots to offer, but as organization, we use some of its core features like

DNS Failover:

We have more than one server for application, and its under constant development, so DNS Failover saves us from total outage of service

Geo DNS:

Able to route requests to the nearest server, thus reducing latency caused by physical distance.

HelthCheck Alarm:

Most crucial part, we basically subscribe to downtime alarm topic using SES and get to work immediately in event of outage Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
