Easy integration with existing Firebase app. The documentation was very easy to read and fortunately, there were good stack overflow answers that helped with fine details integrating the app with our backend . The docs are a great way to explore some features of Algolia search. Of course, the app's speed was far superior to the search feature in Firebase. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the API is difficult to use with Java applications. It's easier to use the project if you use Node or Javascript. I would prefer having more documentation and user support/examples for Java programs. Also, it was difficult to tell whether the app's speed was only because of the relatively small datasets we used for our app's prototypes. If there was an easier way to measure the metric and intelligently improve our overall speed, that would help as we scale up our user-base. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Having a predefined library of frontend components was key to choosing Algolia for our main search functionality. Having example components to work from or extend for my use was incredibly helpful for building a search interface fast. We managed to build a series of pages without Algolia... and the day before launch we decided to add instant search. We were able to integrate + launch it within a day. Keeping real time data in sync is quite difficult/expensive with Algolia as a solution. Where we have a large list of items in our Algolia, they also have data points that update in near real time. The combination of needing to update data in algolia, and constantly refresh the algolia cache in browser results in either high costs, or out of sync data. The easy of integration and the speed of getting the responses. The documentation is also great.
I have added a search feature to my personal blog, which is based on Jekyll. There is a Jekyll package that does all the heavy lifting, and for the parts to customize there is plenty of documentation.
From the creation of the account to be up and running it took me less than one hour. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing in particular. Everything was smooth and clean. I can't really say that there are downsides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's the easiest way to add search functionalities to your software, without having to worry about managing Solr or ES clusters. Their API is really well documented and easy to use. Pricing model is also easy and you should not have problems calculating how much you will end up paying. Other advantage is the low and consistent latency to all end users, with servers on every major continent, no user will have a bad experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be a lot more expensive than self managing a elastic search or other search software cluster by yourself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Algolia can help my services to find the data faster than in a second, even if it's written wrong.
Good documentation and nice Laravel/Vue.js plugins out of the box — means very simple and straightforward integration with almost any product.
You can integrate their search less than one hour! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Only problem I found was in the Hebrew (and probably Arabic) language search. Also pricing could be too big than self managing a elastic search for big projects. But for small projects would be enough even free tier! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The dashboard is organised in a very ergonomique way wich allows even non technically-literate users to be able to easily their integration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The more advanced api documentation can be a bit lacking at times Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We were comparing Search options for both our new website and our web based application focused on the families we serve. We explored options such as Elastic which provided a robust suite of tools. However, in the end we decided on Algolia for its hosted search, ease of implementation, and UX. It allows us to focus on our data and not have to worry about maintaining the Search experience. Thus far in our implementation, we haven't had any complaints! Algolia provides with pretty much everything we need. It's almost like Stripe for Search! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Algolia is an extremely fast tool that can manage styles pretty well by using a scoring productive formula that's very easy to adjust. If our customers misspelled a query, it lets us handled these misspelled questions and work with HTML customer search orders by Javascript. Also, Algolia embraces web-based services, which improve the accessibility of Windows Phone devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Algolia lacks of instructional videos, something necessary as it's a bit complicated, especially with the arrangement of the records and the increase of specialized features. Also, the latest price increases have made Algolia much more costly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
