I love all the flexibility we have with building jobs and all of the built-in options. The user interface is very easy to use and straightforward, especially once you learn your way around and how things are organized. When we do encounter something we cannot solve on our own; we engage ActiveBatch Support, which is always quick to respond and helps us reach a resolution. It is always a challenge to learn a new scheduler, but I haven't found anything I would classify as a dislike. Is it complex, like any other workload scheduler? Yes, but that complexity does allow for it to do many more things than simply run batch jobs. A downside is the learning curve is very steep, simply because there are so many things to learn. The operation of ActiveBatch can be quickly learned since only a few steps are involved. We have found it useful for almost every function we use since it was designed to support out-of-the-box integration, scripting, REST, and more generic means of integration. Despite the low learning curve of this product, knowledge of construction and scripting adds a more robust level of usability. Anyone with basic IT knowledge can use ActiveBatch, but only developers can fully exploit its capabilities. Unfortunately, each automation effort requires additional resources.
