Action1 Overview

What is Action1?

Action1 is an autonomous endpoint management platform that is cloud-native, infinitely scalable, highly secure, and configurable in 5 minutes—it just works and is always free for the first 200 endpoints, with no functional limits. By pioneering autonomous OS and third-party patching - AEM’s foundational use case - through peer-to-peer patch distribution and real-time vulnerability assessment without needing a VPN, it eliminates costly, time-consuming routine labor, preempts ransomware and security risks, and protects the digital employee experience. Trusted by thousands of enterprises managing millions of endpoints globally, Action1 is certified for SOC 2 and ISO 27001. The company is founder-led by industry veterans Alex Vovk and Mike Walters, American entrepreneurs who founded Netwrix, which has grown into a multi-billion-dollar industry-leading cybersecurity company.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

- Unlike many vendors offering patching as a “check-the-box” feature of their larger products, we zero in on patch management.
- We ensure uniform patching across all applications and operating systems, with real-time visibility that minimizes risks.
- Our cloud-native approach covers every endpoint, everywhere, with no bandwidth penalties, thanks to P2P patch distribution.
- First 200 endpoints are free forever: scale up at a simple, transparent, all-inclusive rate.

What do you like best about Action1?

It was very easy to use. The UI to the scheduling makes things very a breeze. I signed up for a trial and dedicated 2 hours to test. Within 10 minutes I was patching and deploying. A bonus is it had vulnerability scanner that also remedied issues it finds. Deploying the agents were east and was easily integrated within our environment. Their customer Support also is pretty good along. Action1 was implemented pretty quick and now our weekly patching has gone smoothly without a hitch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

The deployment tool can be provided more features but it works. Limitation I found would not effect most SMBs. large scale organizations might find it a bit bare bones but can be easily resolved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used WSUS prior to action1 and we were able to easily replace it with MORE features from an API (we created our own powershell API to use around their API). It helped us stay up to date on patches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have a large number of endpoints that require constant updating. We had another solution that was more suited to small businesses, requiring us to patch them 1 by 1. With action 1, we were able to automate all patch management and save a lot of time. What's more, we're now able to support users via the remote desktop function, helping them wherever they are. So that's a big plus for the user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

We find the interface and toolset to be exactly what we need to take care of our client and to ensure that we have timely Windows and 3rd party patching. I love the integrated vulnerability management which helps us triage what patches to prioritize.Their customer support is easy to access and they have a responsive Discord page for those who are on the free plan. We were up and running in 1 hour with all of our server and workstations managed. We've not integrated with any other platforms. I use this at least once a week to deploy updates to endpoints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

We're currently having issues with Windows ARM patching which A1 has stated is not supported, but it did work for about 2 years and then broke. We'd love to see Linux and MacOS patching added to the platform, as this is the best tool I've used for patch management over the last 20 years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is a great RMM tool without any fluff or hype. We just simply get stuff done with the tool, including writing our own scripts and adding software to the deployments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

I can use both PowerShell and CMD for scripting, deployments.

Patching is easy and I can group machines for different patching methods and cycles.

Options to remediate CVE and outdated software that I do not need to constantly track or research.

Create your own list of commonly used software and deploy as a baseline list of apps for an image. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

Wished there was an option to upload or push files to a target endpoint. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

The ability to support end users anywhere using any computer (home pc or work laptop). I am not bound to a specific machine to support end users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

Action1 gives me the ability to manage multiple locations with multiple devices each, accross two states with ease and confidence. It also provides RDP options should I need to connect and help out. I can even automate tasks for daily updates. I have it update my computers every night. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

(more my issue than Action1) Some applications or settings dont play well with Action1. If you have a dormant user and an application update or uninstall that requires the user to log in the update will not complete. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Action1 gives me the ability to Remotely assist end users, even when RDP is not enabled in Windows. I can apply patches across entire sites, and organizations or select only certain endpoints, saving me a lot of Keybaord time. I can also see the specs on a given endpoint without needing to log onto the device or run a separate scan, Action1's agent has already polled this data for me. What do you like best about Action1?

As long as the target machine is powered with an agent installed, so much can be done. There are great tools included - such as the ability to execute windows integrity checks, windows updates, popular software updates like paint.net, firefox, chrome, 7zip (and the list keeps expanding). Oh, and Action1 includes remote desktop access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

I found my self dissappointed in the single action limitation of powershell commands. Trying both dism and sfc in a single powershell script - then try view each commands output. Last I tried, I only saw the last command's output, but I digress. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Laptop interactive support. Because the software is already preloaded on the staff laptop - they could be anywhere in the world and still call home for support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

The Action1 remote management is beyond anything else we've tried for speed, reliability, and management. We've been able to run custom scripts without trouble, patch without headache and remote access without worry. They literally will give you 100 FREE endpoints because they know it's good enough you'll upgrade to your entire environment (happily guilty here.) Do it. Deploy Action1. What do you like best about Action1?

Action1 has been extremely easy to set up after using no patchmanagement software previously. I log in everyday to check updates though they do have features that allow automatically approving updates I like to check them and approve as needed. Integration of Action1 was easy and I was able to deploy the agent using group policy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

So far I've not had any issues with Action1 and don't have anything negative to say. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

I've tried some other patch management software previously, like WSUS, and found them either expensive or outdated user interfaces. Action1 allowed me to view current patch requirements easily and deploy them without any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
