User friendly interface, quick to learn and fast with applying patches fixes etc. Very good scripting options.
As free (below 100 endpoints) software I cant see better option that Action1 (tested couple of them and also use WSUS) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Windows updates can have more sophisticated filters ie filter by type of updates like drivers etc Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Before we found Action1 we used SCCM as our main patching and software deployment platform. Anyone who has used SCCM know that it's a powerful piece of software, but it's very slow and timeconsuming to troubleshoot. We were struggling to make sure that our devices was up to date and patched. Then we found Action1. We signed up with a trial at first to test it on some of our staff laptops. We found that we had multiple laptops that was out of date with patches, even servers has not been patched with critical updates. Action1 has made it so much easier to publish patches and software for our IT team. And me as an ICT Manager can sleep a bit better at night knowing that our devices and servers are patch with critical updates for vulnerabilities.
Some of the advantages:
- Ease of deployment. Instantly push out an critical update, or schedule it to update at a convenient time
- Full overview of unpatched systems
- Reports and alerts for the fleet
- Instant feedback through logs when testing deployments
- Custom scripts can be published to individual devices or device groups
- Ease of agent deployment through Group Policy and Deployer
- Did anyone mention it's free for first 100 endpoints!!! I was happy though to pay to add the remainding of our Microsoft fleet to Action1. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much negative I can say. The remote desktop option could need some more features, but does work well just to remote into machines.
Other than that I just wish I knew about Action1 earlier. It would be great if it was this easy for our our MacOS fleet. I know this is on their roadmap so hoping that that will be available on day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cloud based solution to manage endpoints and keep systems up to date! Very easy to use and a hassle free mode to implement in your current environment.
The dashboard gives an insight on which machines need to be patched. And also has features such as remote assistance which is a pre in our organisation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I know that Action1 is a startup and there are a few features missing, but know that these will come in the future Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Action1 is a clean looking system. Very easy to find things. They also have a Discord channel with a lot of friendly people to help with all your questions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some features I'd like to see that don't even seem to be on the roadmap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Major thing to us is that can remote from browser directly. No need to install anything, and remoting works with Linux too :)
And fast and jolly replys from our Action1 contact. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing haven't come yet :) Will update if something comes up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a small business, Trion Tech has been utilizing Action1 for patch management, and we couldn't be more pleased with its performance. Action1 has proven to be an exceptional solution, offering a range of features that perfectly align with our requirements. It has significantly simplified our patching process, integrated seamlessly with remote desktop capabilities, and provided highly accurate alerts, all while being mindful of the financial constraints faced by small businesses.
One of the standout aspects of Action1 is its ability to automate and schedule patch deployments during off-peak hours. This feature has allowed us to efficiently manage and deploy patches across our systems. Monitoring the progress of patch deployment and identifying vulnerabilities that require attention has never been easier. Additionally, the flexibility to manually deploy patches on demand without waiting for scheduled deployments has proven valuable.
The remote desktop integration within Action1 has been a game-changer for us. By leveraging the Action1 agent, we can securely log into our servers without the need for complex firewall configurations or VPNs. This feature has significantly simplified remote system access and management, enabling us to be more productive and responsive to our business needs.
One of the most appealing aspects of Action1, especially for small businesses like ours, is that the first 100 endpoints are available at no cost. This generous offering has truly made a difference for us, as it can be challenging for small businesses to afford the often steep costs associated with essential platforms like Action1. We greatly appreciate Trion Tech's commitment to supporting and empowering small businesses by providing free access to a comprehensive feature set. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Action1 boasts an extensive app store with a wide range of programs, we have encountered a few instances where some of our organization's specific programs were not available. Nevertheless, this minor limitation does not overshadow the overall benefits and value that Action1 brings to our patch management process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It makes it Extremely easy to see where all your vulnerabilities are and address them quickly and easily Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish it had more software patch items built in so that even more could be automatically addressed rather than flagging it with "documenting controls" for later manual action. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Action1 allows you to take a step back and manage your network devices easily. I love the automation features and the fact I can auto deploy updates daily. As a network manager this is essential as it allows me to focus on other tasks while Action1 does this in the background.
It was very easy to integrate with my existing domain setup thanks to the installer they provide. When I have had any questions, their customer support has been great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far I have not found anything that I dislike about Action1. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have migrated most of our patch management to Action1 as it offers many programs we already use in the app store. Patch deployment is easy to automate and schedule during off-peak hours. I can easily see how the patch deployment is progressing and what vulnerabilities have yet to be patched. If necessary, I can manually deploy a patch immediately without waiting for the scheduled deployment.
Remote desktop is a nice feature too. I can log into my servers using the Action1 agent without opening my firewall or using VPN.
One of the best features for small businesses is that the entire feature set is usable for the first 100 endpoints at no cost. I wish more developers would offer this, as many small businesses cannot afford the exorbitant cost of some of these platforms that are so essential today. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They don't have all our organization's programs in the app store. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
