What is Action1?

Action1 is an autonomous endpoint management platform that is cloud-native, infinitely scalable, highly secure, and configurable in 5 minutes—it just works and is always free for the first 200 endpoints, with no functional limits. By pioneering autonomous OS and third-party patching - AEM’s foundational use case - through peer-to-peer patch distribution and real-time vulnerability assessment without needing a VPN, it eliminates costly, time-consuming routine labor, preempts ransomware and security risks, and protects the digital employee experience. Trusted by thousands of enterprises managing millions of endpoints globally, Action1 is certified for SOC 2 and ISO 27001. The company is founder-led by industry veterans Alex Vovk and Mike Walters, American entrepreneurs who founded Netwrix, which has grown into a multi-billion-dollar industry-leading cybersecurity company.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

- Unlike many vendors offering patching as a “check-the-box” feature of their larger products, we zero in on patch management.
- We ensure uniform patching across all applications and operating systems, with real-time visibility that minimizes risks.
- Our cloud-native approach covers every endpoint, everywhere, with no bandwidth penalties, thanks to P2P patch distribution.
- First 200 endpoints are free forever: scale up at a simple, transparent, all-inclusive rate.

What do you like best about Action1?

While I was just looking for a service to automatically download and install Windows updates for client machines, I got that and more with Action1. Being able to remotely access machines from a webpage and being able to schedule in update runs has been a massive help. We try to keep on top of vulnerablities and this is made so easy now. I use this on a near daily basis now to check up on things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

I really enjoy the product, however possibly just the UI is a little daunting Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am able to push updates out on a weekly or when needed basis. The agents automatically find new machines and I can immediuately begin patching while I build new ones. I have used its remote access when away from home and needing to help someone in office. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

I can bring up either the client name or even the user name of the person using the client and be able to view statuses as well as installed software almost instantly. Keeping clients up to date is MUCH easier than it has been! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Although the product is still being developed, I've run into issues creating my own custom applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use it for patch management, software deployment, remote support, software inventory and carrying out administrative tasks remotely like deleting profiles and resetting local account passwords. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

The easy of use has been amazing. Very few processes have had to be researched, and those we didn't know how to already do were well documented and easy to implement. I have very rarely had a software that was so intuitive to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

I honestly have nothing that I dislike about Action1. That is a first for me to say with any software, especially one for support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our users are very spread out with only a few people on our team to support them. Action1 has made providing quality support for our users so easy now. From remote connections to checking software and updates it has been great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

Simple interface that gives a nice overview of patching and vulnerabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

The remote access (remote desktop) tool is very basic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed a simple Windows and Application patching tool. Most solutions only support a handful of public third party apps, but we get a large range through Action1, and for everything else there are simple Winget scripts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

Action1 has helped gain visibility into all endpoints owned by the organization. Its features such as vulnerability remediation, update deployment, remote support, custom program deployment, amongst others has revolutionized IT for small businesses. Its implementation was seamless, and the customer support is just great (checkout their roadmap). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

While Action1 has been an absolutely great addition to our IT repo, we would appreciate if it had an ability to show the current location of a device. Such will be really helpful for remote IT teams looking to track and secure devices from theft. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

Easy to understand and use, built in automations are great, easy to create more if you need them. Software deployment is easy, approving updates possibly even easier. Their support has been a great help as well and their sales team never felt overly pushy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

I want to preface this by saying they're planning to release updates to fix/support both these things very soon, but they don't exist in GA as of right now.

1) No reporting on vulnerabilities. I would love to be able to generate a report on vulnerabilities to show to stakeholders in meetings.

2) Mac support. Would love to be able to roll my few Macs into Action1. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Action1 is giving us the ability to properly manage and track our endpoints, as well as ensure they're fully patched and not vulnerable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

It is effortless to configure and to see system information like Lansweeper. But you can also push updates to fix vulnerabilities and create your scripts to be pushed out to devices. It even has better reporting than Lansweeper and is so much easier to use than Lansweeper reports. Customer support is top-notch. They usually respond in an hour, or there is a community that will have the answer. We use it daily by multiple people. It is easy to implement. You can either install an agent or use WMI or SSH to gather data and push updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

There is nothing we love at our company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

It does 2 things for us asset management and patching. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

The top thing I like about Action1 is that they are very interested in making their product better. During our first call, they had an engineer in the call as well so that he could answer any technical questions I had. He was able to answer all of my questions. They also quickly let me know about their roadmap for the product. You're able to look at all the requests that other customers have and vote for them as well as submit any requests that aren't already there. The requests that get the most votes get higher priority.

The product itself is very good too. Lots of options for pushing out updates. You can configure it so that it tries to update every so many hours or days so that if the system isn't online at the time, it can hopefully get it when it does come online. I had one program that wasn't in their list and they helped me to add it to my portal.

I did struggle with pushing the agent out via GPO but then found out that they have a program that you install on a server that will do all the deploying for you so that's pretty slick as well.

Very happy with the product and wished we could have moved ahead with it full tilt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

Obviously the focus is on updates. So other functionality like inventory and remote access aren't as polished yet. But they were very upfront about that too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

For us, we mainly looked at Action1 to push out patches to endpoints. A lot of malware is able to get a foothold via unpatched vulnerabilities in third party software so having a program that patches all these third party programs is a definite plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
