Their customer support and two-way communication is unparalleled since we have a direct Slack channel to theif founders.
Setting up the tool and integrations are very straight forward.
The nature of approving requests in Slack and automated provisioning is very usefull and saves time to approvers.
Help streamline the IGA process and trumps Okta by harvesting infromation directly from GWS whilst decreases manual work to create dummy applications for periodical Access Reviews.
The "customers" like the easy unified requestables and dashboard inside Slack.
Time saver for on and offboarding via profile templates for provisioning and deprovisiong. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not dislike but room for improvements:
- GUI and grouping the administrative messages in Slack
- Shadow IT discovery
- Build integrations with SaaS and MDM vendors to stramline access Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We used to use a spreadsheet to keep track of which apps each staff person needs access to, per team. With AccesssOwl we built template groups in which we assign apps to an employee, along with the roles and permissions inside that account. It's so much easier now to choose "New Staff Default" and at onboarding time their email account gets created, they get assigned to the whole office email group, they get their password manager account invite, Slack invite, Time tracker invite and so on. Yes, Access Owl does provisioning as well as de-provisioning when offboarding!
Secondly Access Owl has provided us a view we never had: Shadow IT! We can now see the hundreds of apps our staff have had invites into (we do not see active usage.. a feature i'm hoping will come in the future!) which has led us to managing access for many more apps than we "though we needed to manage".
All of this without paying the Single Sign On tax, AKA, the cost of upgrading accounts to be able to use SSO.
Plus it uses Slack as it's UI and client interface. It's so easy to work with their team in our own dedicated Slack channel. Love it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There were two things that shocked us when we started using AccessOwl: discovering just how many apps we had no idea our staff were using. (Shadow IT) That then led us to an even bigger shock: the cost to upgrade all those accounts to SSO enterprise level account if we wanted to use a service like Okta to manage them all. (SSOTax).
After using it for several months the only thing i'm still struggling with is to setup all the templates across all the teams to assign/remove permissions. Along with making sure all the permissions and roles for each application are also setup correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I was so thrilled to discover AccessOwl and it has proven to be invaluable tool to us as we have grown our employee base, hardened our access controls & vendor management procedures, and gone through third party audits. We regularly use AccessOwl to manage access and auditing of our 100+ applications and to do so without having to setup clunky, cumbersome SAML integrations.
Things that have worked great:
- The combination of the Slack-native experience for stakeholder requests and the web UI for admins has worked tremendously well
- The Google-centric view of users and access management via oAuth aligns with our our bets for identity management and employee directories
- Onboarding a new employee is dead simple and saves time in getting the right sets of applications provisioned
- App notifies us continually when a new SaaS tool is used by our employees
- The AccessOwl team is innovating rapidly and shares both regular roadmap updates as well as soliciting feedback on product direction
- The UX continues to get better
- The # of fully automated provisioning applications grows all the time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- We have a long tail of SaaS applications which require some human intervention to provision.
- Requiring an user seat per SaaS app to automate provisioning does come at a cost Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Having a single source of truth for employee access to all of our vendors is amazing. And not just access, but level of access within the vendor as well. Access Owl is highly customizable, and in a very easy and intuitive way. A lot of thought has been put into the UI and it shows. The integration with Slack is excellent, enabling both requestors and app admins to interact with Access Owl within a very familiar environment. Thanks to its ease of use, it was very quickly adopted as the starting point for all access requests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very little. The experience with Access Owl, both the tool itself and how they solve access management, has been very positive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Organizations who use Slack will love it, the Slack integration is the best one out there. AccessOwl is very simple to understand and setup. Perfect for startups, small, and medium-sized businesses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very large organizations with complicated processes may not be able to map their processes to AccessOwl. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easiest way to track SaaS apps we use -- even with Okta. There's just so many apps and not all of them work with SSO. The shadow IT feature is helpful to auto-populate this. The offboarding approach sure beats my old eternally-out-of-date Notion list. The team has been super responsive, and setting it all up was easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Shadow IT feature can be a bit noisy sometimes -- people sign up for a lot of tools! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
