As a large, global company that generates significant amounts of coverage, it's critical for us to track traditional and social media mentions in real time. We've tried dozens of tool suites, but none have compared to Zignal. Within a few minutes of setting up an account I had access to Zignal's suite of media analysis tools, which allow me to manipulate data and view coverage trends in dozens of different ways. Most important to me, though, is Zignal's alerting system, which notifies me immediately when we're mentioned in nearly every type of media -- print, broadcast, Twitter, Reddit, LexisNexis, etc. This seems simple, but anyone who works in PR can tell you how few tool suites can actually provide comprehensive and immediate mention alerts. Critically, the system allows me to precisely filter out the noise so I only see meaningful alerts. I personally just have not seen anything that can compare. This is quibling, but the only thing I'd add is an option to blacklist individual websites within the user interface, which would help me filter out the last remaining pieces of meaningless coverage (market research reporters, press releases, low-value news sites). That website blacklisting is possible by sending an email to Zignal, but placing that function within the user interface might streamline things just a little. Zignal has a plethora of features and widgets that make analyzing your campaigns from every angle a breeze. I love how simple it is to get the metrics I want, and that each dashboard is templated as a report which makes everything easy to scan. The Zignal team is also a pleasure to work with, and really puts in the time and effort to ensure you're getting the most out of what the platform has to offer. Dashboard management can be a challenge, in terms of ingesting the stories you care about vs irrelevant mentions. Sometimes I wish I could cherry pick the articles I want to track into a dashboard, intead of ingesting all articles and setting up combinations of filters in order to filter out mentions I don't want to track. Saved filters/issues make it very easy to re-use for future requests. Similarly, once you have created a report design that you like you can easily reuse it for other topics of conversation, reducing the hours needed to rebuild a new report. Customization of widgets and applying filters is also a huge benefit. Newsroom and the alerts features are very helpful and make my job easier. Zignal reps and account managers are very engaged and responsive and go out of their way to help you at any time of the day with any request that you have. My only wish is that they enable boolean logic when creating smart filters and issues. Keywords alone aren't always easy to utilize and get granular with the topic of conversation you are interested in. When creating a filter, it would be great if you could select whether you want the additions to be applied as ANDS or ORs . Currently, they always apply as ANDs which is not always ideal. Zignal continues to reguarly expand its features. It has an incredible customer support team, ensuring that users feel helped at every step. The ability to spin up custom dashboards and alerting systems has helped our teams continue to stay informed of current conversations and news cycles, and has powered teams to deliver consistent reporting. The innability to create filters using free-form boolean, as well as the lack of a wildcard boolean operator, are the biggest things currently hindering Zignal's performance. Zignal can do a lot, but requires creative combinations of existing features to "re-create" the advance features that are standard in other listening platforms. We're able to look at conversations in various ways to really understand meaningful content, and the depth of the insights we're able to glean from Zignal is outstanding. Zignal is able to monitor coverage/mentions across a variety of platforms that other tools can't. They also provide numerous widgets, allowing you to slice the data in various ways that suit your reporting needs. Zignal also offers a Media Quality Score, which measures the effectiveness of our communication and the quality of media coverage — making reporting back on comms impact more understandable for non-PR stakeholders. I like that you are able to customize as needed, and can see the whole "picture" of what you want right on one dashboard. It is also nice that you are able to easily export things as needed to be able to share with your team.
