I love the ease of design control and real time collaboration with Onshape. It provides the best of both worlds for file control and design exploration, all while maintaining revision control and the ability to explore with branches and merge concepts back it. It is easy to install and roll out. The training modules quickly bring ne and experienced CAD users into the new tool. There is no need to maintain multiple version of the software. It is missing developed CAM options and circuit design, but they are quickly coming up to speed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No bulky local installation and no special workstations required
Integrated parts management, which was previously only possible with complicated PDM systems
Mature versioning and branching
Sophisticated configuration functionality for all possible scenarios and features
The ability to model all related parts within a single part studio - thus safe dimensional changes based on a few basic sketches
Simple sharing of designs and intermediate statuses within the team
Integrated rendering capability (albeit somewhat cryptic compared to specialized external apps, but still useful for quick presentations)
Very simple and well thought-out module for creating drawings
Overall, straight forward work with a fun factor and quick results and successes
Good community that actively participates in development in the form of programmed feature scripts for special cases (welding, cable routing, etc.) that can be loaded into the project
Monthly reports on new features and improvements (what's new after login)
I just love it, Onshape makes me addicted! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Still no possibility to place small labels, logos or simple textures on partial surfaces within an assembly (such as stickers in Solidworks). If you want to see something like this, you either have to use the Render Studio or imprint the labeling correctly into the geometry... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really like the cloud based approach because I can work on my projects from anywhere with any device, it runs smoothly without any problems. One of the biggest advantages of Onshape is the cloud saving. You never loose any progress if the device is crashing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't found any things about Onshape I didn't like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The fact that you never loose any work due to constant saving and have option to restore or make a brach from an earlier stage of work. Next thing being to easy to administrate, regarding both software and hardwarre. Customer support. Collaboration possibilities Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Do not have auto BOM dimensions of parts.
Lacking some basic drawing functionality, like ex. break and section in same view. Lack of integrated 3D sketch. Does not have possibility to export DXF from ASSY parts ,need to be located in PArt Studio to have this option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

OnShape allows for real engineer to engineer, and full team collaboration. it solve the ongoing issues of constant updates, to both software and hardware. it is intuitive to use once you forgot the old ways of how software used to work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
my only concern is overall cloud security for all things in the cloud as well as the loss of all usable materials if and when you do not have a connection. but for the most part we can no longer perform our tasks without a connection so it is one of those new regalities we just need to get used to. The freedom to have my whole CAD-Library everywhere I need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Drawing's functionality could be even more better, but I see a steady process in improvements.
The functionality to search for configured part properties should also be improved in future updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sharing files for others without CAD to be able to view and comment on is great. I use OnShape several times during the day and I am able to access in multiple locations on any device with ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have struggled to get the assembly build features dialed in, compared to the other CAD systems that I've used. Outside of that, the bulk of what OnShape offers is very quick to integrate and get working easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The accessibility of Onshape is remarkable. And it becomes more useful when you want a feedback from your senior as quickly as possbile. In terms of part design, it is simply too convenient to have all the parts to be glanced in a single 3d environment other than the assembly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That being said, it still has a long way to go, for example drawing environment is not up to the standard set by its peers. Drawing environment is simply too inconsistent for a long session. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One of the best things is that you are always using the most up-to-date version. You never need to install a new version. Everyone is using the same version globally.
Being able to colaborate over distance is a major plus as I work remotely but can still work on things that the people in the shop are looking at and referencing.
Customer support is A+! I have used other CAD systems that wanted to charge me hourly tech support to solve issues with the program. Onshape is very quick to respond to any emails sent and either show what I've missed or offer a solution to the problem. Also, several of the things that I have mentioned as 'nice to have' features have been implemented in updates so it is very encouraging to have the product growing in response to user feedback. There are still some things that Onshape doesn't have that other CAD programs have had but every program seems to have something that others don't and it appears to just be a matter of time before Onshape will have added all the shortcuts that I was used to in other programs.
The Android version of Onshape is a bit underwelming but the fact that I can show things on my phone is pretty great! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The intuitive functionality is supported by a comprehensive library of courses which allowed me to teach myself CAD from scratch and design complex prototype parts ready for 3D printing and injection moulding. This is truely a program suitable for experts without the barriers for non-experts to develop their skills and produce fantastic results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Occasionally I have had to go back into the training courses a couple of times to get my head round a couple of the more complex functions - but I think that is to be expected when you have such a broad and complex software package. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
