What do you like best about Verbit?

Overall, this is great for quick closed captioning and accessibility! The timeliness is really efficient, especially when working on videos on a deadline. It is really helpful that it connects to different video players as well, so you are able to find your video on the service you use instead of having to upload it. For example, Vimeo, and once closed captioning is updated on your video, it is updated anywhere that video is saved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

One downside of using Verbit is sometimes a video will fail captioning, and it is unclear why. It could be the formatting of the video or another reason, but once must do some digging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?

The most helpful thing about Verbit is their excellent support staff. We have had multiple meetings with our Verbit rep to help us work through a few issues, and he is always eager to help us problem solve. We have also had great success working through the chat support feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

We have had some integration issues with one of the services we use that have made our process more complicated than we'd like, but Verbit support staff is continuing to try to resolve this issue for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?

Verbit is extremely easy to use and quick. We've used it for closed captioning for videos as well as live captioning for webinars and virtual conferences. We've found all of the captioners to be extremely professional, personable, and most importantly, accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

The one downside is that sometimes live captioners are subcontracted out by a third party. We've only had one instance where a subcontractor could not be contacted during a live event and no-showed. We were refunded the cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Accessbility compliance is extremely important to us, and not just because we have to abide by Section 508 compliance. We use Verbit to provide closed captioning for all of our webinar videos so that our Adult Learners can get their information in another mode, as well as be able to have it read to them by a screen reader. What do you like best about Verbit?

Verbit has an excellent turn around time for generating transcripts. According the team who reviewed captioning companies, for us, Verbit was the most cost effective and flexible for our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

Verbit uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate the initial transcript. After the AI generates the captions, a human is supposed to review them. My organization has had inappropriate words included in transcripts that were out of context that human review by Verbit did not catch. The videos I request captioning for are highly technical, professional education. I find words that appear within the video misspelled in transcripts. I see where phrases like, "You shouldn't do XYZ because..." be picked up by the AI asm "You should do XYZ because..." This is concerning because those are two opposing statements and could provide a person using captions erroneous information. I realize there are trade-offs by using a hybrid-AI approach, but I'd strongly urge everyone who uses captions to do at least a high level review of the transcript for accuracy before sharing the file. This goes for any service. Also, Verbit did not have a profanity filter applied to our account, which is why inappropriate language made it into our video captions. On the other hand, sometimes the AI translations are amusing like when "For Pete's sake" was interpreted as, "For pizza faith." Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Verbit to caption our videos. In order to meet US federal requirements for accessibility, all of our videos must be captioned. We submit a lot of captioning requests and Verbit does process them in a timely manner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?

Verbit is not only a phenomenal company when it comes to customer service and ongoing support, but they provide a myriad of services that allow our Deaf and HOH students on campus to access communication in a more autonomous way. Their student platform has allowed us to turn over the responsbility of some roles to the students as they matriculate with the hopes that as they enter the workforce they will feel confident scheduling, starting, and troubleshooting all of their live captioning needs. In addition to Live, we also utilize their post production transcription services, again, a major plus is the autonomy it allows us to hand over to the students as they learn to naviate courses on their own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

The biggest complaint we receive from students is that their desire is essentially for a different service. Many would prefer the post transcription transcript be captions embedded in the film, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Communication Access within classrooms and for public facing events on campus. In addition, Verbit also solves the problem of inaccessible videos being shown as part of the courses students are paying to attend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?

The captioning is accurate. Used for healthcare videos which have to be accurate in spelling of content. The turnaround time is very good. Typically not more than 2 days. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

I don't like that the billing is for the full length of the video, even with silence. Many videos have silence at the beginning or end, plus sometimes there are intermittent silences for student quizzing or reflection. I think the silence should not be billed, but that may be a contract negotiation point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Verbit is being used to caption online videos of class presentations that are being used by students. These students require accommondations so this fulfills ADA by law. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?

Verbit offers accurate transcriptions at impressive turnaround times. Our Verbit rep, Spencer, is always timely and thorough with solving any issues we may encounter, even offering to meet with us to brainstorm ideas on how to deliver the best product for our business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

Occassionally, the turnaround times are almost *too* fast. After those times, I tend to review the transcript closer for errors that may have been missed. Even then, errors tend to be minor, and feedback comments can be added to your account for future transcriptions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?

My office does several hour-long transcriptions for formal records. The combination of automatic transcription peered with human review is what makes Verbit the best bang for our buck. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?

I love the post production captions and the assistance I have received when I was struggle to figure out solutions to problems. The help team was amazing and our representative, Adam is amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

The live AI captions are not reliable. If someone has an accent, the captions do not work well. I wish they could be more reliable when we have activities that require captions. I will try out the live person captions if we have an opportunity to do so. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Verbit is allowing students to receive equal access in the classrooms. Professors are asking us to caption videos. Verbit has also ensured that our videos that we release to our students to train them how to use our database has been most effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?

Verbit has been very useful and accurate at producing captions for our lectures. Captions are formed very swiftly after uploading and the user interface is very intuitive for reviewing and managing captions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Verbit?

Sometimes the system is not able to accurately predict what the instructor is saying. In rare cases, it will miss a sentence that can cause havoc on caption timing when inserting the missed sentence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Producing quality captioning that saves time having to do it manually. This results in faster video editing turnaround and more ADA access to students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
