Everything! This product is amazing, I have tried and used so many different backup and disaster recovery solutions and in my opinion 99% fall short of the feature set that is inherent within Veeam. Ease of set up, recoverability, knowledge base, support, etc is all very well done Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Hard to say I dislike anything as the product meets all of my requirements. The obvious one being the fact that the solution does not inherently support physical machines but in the last year Veeam has come out with the Windows and Linux agents which from my experience work very well. I can confidently know my RTO can be met using instant recovery features. The flexibility of platforms, authentication methods, & security-minded approach to backup are really unparralleled. I've used many back up platforms over 25 years of my career. Veeam is the only one I trust. The ease of use an intuitive nature of the GUI are all best in class in my opinion. Veeam is the 800 lb gorilla to beat in the industry. I pull backups almost constantly and my Veeam server is the hardest working server on my network.
Implementation is easy, pushing and updating clients is easy. The Linux client actually works very well compared to others.
I also use Veeam to back up my cloud environments, the ease of integration with cloud platforms is just as easy as everything else you can do in Veeam. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have really don't have any problems. If I do their customer support has gotten me fixed quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam Data Cloud was extremely simple to set up and use. However, I highly recommend taking the time to meet with the onboarding support team. Their guidance can be invaluable in ensuring you get the most out of the platform.
One key takeaway from our onboarding experience was the difference between fixed and dynamic licensing. We initially started with fixed licensing but quickly realized that dynamic licensing provided significantly more flexibility. With a quick email, our onboarding specialist switched us to dynamic licensing, which offers several advantages:
It allows you to exceed your allocated licenses temporarily and true up later.
It is the only way to ensure new users are automatically backed up.
With the fixed licensing model, new users must be added manually, which can become cumbersome as your organization grows.
So far, our test restores have worked well, reinforcing our confidence in the platform’s reliability.
We migrated to Veeam from another cloud backup provider, primarily due to pricing and familiarity. Veeam’s pricing is more competitive, and since we already use Veeam Backup & Replication, transitioning was seamless. Given our positive experience with Veeam’s support in the past, we expect the same high level of service with Veeam Data Cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One minor drawback is that the interface can sometimes feel a bit slow, particularly when accessing restores. This is understandable given the sheer volume of data being processed—searching through 250 mailboxes for an item will naturally take some time. If this were a local install with local storage, I’d expect similar delays when working with large datasets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like most about the Veeam Data Platform suite is how versatile it is, beyond just backups, it can also help us to P2V conversions, disaster-recovery replication and orchestration, bare metal backup restores, V2V conversions (i.e. VMware to Hyper-V migrations, or on-prem to cloud) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For companies with a large number of virtual machines, the phasing out of per CPU socket licensing in favor of per VM pricing has significantly increased the cost of ongoing ownership of the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Veeam data plantform has been a very efficient system when it comes to restoring VM's for us in a HyperV environment. We have never had any issues with the data being there one we have triggered a restore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The UI isn't always the clearest, it can sometimes take a little poking around to try to figure out where everything is when you need to do a restore. Make sure you take the time to document the steps before you are in a data restore incident. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is very easy to setup and use. The jobs can be scheduled and in case of a disaster you can recover a vm in a just a few minutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have had to call support a few times. In the earlier builds updating was horrible. It never completed correctly and support was required each time. I setup a new vm just for the veeam backup server. It ran about a year without issues until one day it started failing all of my backups. The issue was fixed by support but took several days. Very easy to use the backup and replication console to backup and recover data/servers. Use it on a regular basis to restore files deleted by users. Their customer support has been great. Quick response time and very helpful. Easy to install. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
User friendly, however the software used to stop working every so often and require a reinstall but that has not happened in the last year at the very least so an update must have fixed that. Really no dislikes that I can think of, works well in my environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how robust Veeam is for backing up a wide range of operating systems, and being able to manage them from a single location. Even utilizing cloud storage like Wasabi is seemless to setup in Veeam, which makes it easy for us to manage all backups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't really have any negative things to say about Veeam. It is a superior backup software compared to other options, such as Acronis. I don't think I would ever decide to use a different solution other than Veeam after how positive my experience has been the past 5 years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Most importantly, when the backup works, you know the restore will work. That can be a restore of an entire VM or down to a file or folder. I have done both and every time I had to do a restore I know it will work. That is what Backups are meant for, to be restored. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The upgrade process has been awful the last two times I migrated to the newwest version of Veeam. When I do my next upgrade, I am hoping this time it will work without me having to pen a ticket with Tech Support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam Data Platform comes in different editions, which means any individual or company can afford a model suited to them.
Foundation, Advanced and Premium.
The monitoring and analytics tool in the Advanced and Premium editions is the best on the market in my opinon.
As a consultant, Im yet to come across a customer who has not heard of Veeam, with the majority already using it in some capacity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam Monitoring Tool - Veeam One, is not included in Veeam Data Foundation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam excels at providing reliable, flexible, and fast backup solutions. It supports VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud environments, as well as physical machines, making it a robust solution for diverse infrastructures. The ability to backup virtual machines at a granular level and restore them quickly is one of its standout features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam’s pricing structure is somewhat complex, with different tiers (Standard, Enterprise, and Enterprise Plus) and separate costs for certain features like cloud storage. This can be a bit confusing for new customers trying to determine what they need and what they’ll pay. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
