Description

TeamGantt is a project management software company that specializes in simple and intuitive gantt chart tools for project planning and collaboration. Founded in
009 by John Correlli and Nathan Gilmore in Baltimore, Maryland, TeamGantt was created with a single purpose in mind: to bring calm and clarity to teams who work together.TeamGantt was originally founded in
009 by John Correlli and Nathan Gilmore under the name Groundbreaking Designs LLC.At the time, John and Nathan were both developing software for a large roofing contractor in Baltimore, Maryland. They searched high and low for a good way to schedule and collaborate on projects online but couldn't find a solution that did both well. They decided to tackle the challenge of building their own gantt chart software on nights and weekends. After seeing their software’s potential, John and Nathan released an early version for other companies to try. It turns out, they weren’t the only ones who needed a better way to manage projects! The first public release of TeamGantt officially launched in November
010, and John and Nathan had their first customer within a few hours. TeamGantt quickly took off, attracting big-name customers like Twitter, Expedia, and Turner Broadcasting in just the first year. After the successful launch of TeamGantt, Groundbreaking Designs LLC rebranded to match its flagship product. Now, our company and software platform are both known as TeamGantt.

What do you like best about TeamGantt?

My business juggles many simultaneous projects. I used to keep track of them using a calendar and written task lists but as the number of projects grew and they became more complex, this approach no longer worked. TeamGantt allows me to visualize all of my projects at once - more than that, I can easily schedule activities for my projects so that things don't pile up unexpectedly. So my project planning and execution has become a lot more smooth.

If my team and I get ahead or behind schedule I can shift project activities around. The ability to have dependencies makes this really easy. Move one activity and the dependent activities adjust automatically. Daily progress reports to my email help with a check-in for what I should be paying attention to and give me a head's up before a deadline is on top of me.

Templates are also great because I don't have to create a new project from scratch every time I get a new client. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TeamGantt?

If I finish a task ahead of schedule it still shows up in my progress reports until the original due date; once it's done I would rather not keep seeing it listed as 100% complete every day - a small annoyance.

Repeating tasks can't be easily created/displayed. If I want to do the same sequence of tasks multiple times over the course of a project (for example conduct interviews every 4 months: develop/update interview protocol, interview subjects, analyse data, write report) there isn't an easy mechanism to set this up. Rather, I end up typing in long lists of the same tasks over and over and messing around with how to group them to look as ungainly as possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TeamGantt solving and how is that benefiting you?

Keeping track of many complex projects. Helping me to do long range project planning: I am able to forecast out several years so that I know when I can/can't commit to traveling for example. Helping me do medium term planning: I can see well in advance when periods will be likely slower or busier so I can move activities around based on priority. I spend far less time than I used to on keeping track of when different projects might interfere with one another - because I can take steps to prevent them from doing so well in advance. Deadlines rarely sneak up on me anymore. I can play with different scenarios. All of this fits into my overall business goals of running a more efficient and effective business - spending less time on busy work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

User-friendly: The website is very easy and clear to navigate. All the features are cleary explained/outlined in the side panel. Furthermore, I particularly love the availability of personalized videos to guide users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TeamGantt?

Sometimes exporting the project has been a hassle, due to compatibility issues. However, with the help of their friendly team, I did overcome the issue. In the future, it would probably be recommend that they have an guide on how to export the project in particular format. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TeamGantt solving and how is that benefiting you?

It allows project managers to effectively schedule the deadlines and milestones within each stage of development of the final product. Furthermore, it also provides an interactive interface to keep track on the progress of activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about TeamGantt?

1. Simple, intuitive interface makes it easy to keep everyone on the same page.

2. It's easy to start and track jobs across the platform.

3. You can invite people inside and outside of your company to just view or participate as needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TeamGantt?

1. The pricing has changed and now restricts each project manager in number of projects, which is a problem for small companies that utilize one or two project leaders to manage many jobs.

2. The default setting on email notices hammers your in-box. We tell everyone coming in to a project to adjust that first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TeamGantt solving and how is that benefiting you?

We looked for a scheduling option that wasn't weighed down by all the other tools we didn't need. All-in-one solutions can be great, but that's not what we needed in this case. TeamGantt let us focus on what we really needed and avoid the bloat. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Aaron R of TeamGantt

What do you like best about TeamGantt?

I started using the free version of TeamGantt a couple years ago, and haven't looked back. It was exactly what I needed: a Gantt-focused platform to help me and my team plan content. After about a year, I pleaded with my division to put us on the paid version so I could have all my team on there, and all my team seem to be as convinced of its value as I am: we extol its virtues to other teams within the division, and those other teams are starting to get curious and explore the possibilities, too.

I love the ease with which I can drag items back and forth in the timeline, and up and down in the stack. It's such an aid to planning. It's become an indispensable tool for me. I used to use a board system (not my choice) and I just couldn't visualize the timeline, or the overlapping of projects, the same way that a Gantt chart facilitates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TeamGantt?

I do wish there was a way that sequential, non-overlapping tasks within a group could be displayed on the same line, somehow. It would allow me to expand groups and have a better visual of what needs to be done. Currently, I can only expand two or three groups before my screen is taken up by just those groups, compromising my ability to view as many projects together as I could otherwise.

It would also be great if duplicating a group would duplicate things like progress logged on various tasks, or notes made. Sometimes I specifically duplicating a group, wanting to inherit some of those edits.

Automatic numbering of groups in the left-most column might be helpful. Right now, to see how many groups I have in a timeline, I have to count. I currently have around 80-90, so this is a bit of an annoyance ;P Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TeamGantt solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was desperate to find a way to visualize my teams projects. I'm new to project management, and had never heard of a "Gantt Chart" before. After a Eureka! moment, I started putting together a Gantt Chart manually in Photoshop, and showing it around to people until I learned the name and eventually found TeamGantt. Our primary logistical tool so far has been JIRA. It's impossible on JIRA to get a sense of projects that may be running along identical timelines, and it's just too abstract for this visual thinker.

Since finding TeamGantt, I have helped my team make monumental strides in planning ahead, and have been able to keep them on track and more easily spot projects that are slipping behind schedule. It's been a total game changer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about TeamGantt?

Forget spreadsheets and clunky over complicated planning tools. TeamGantt plans are so easy to build, update and share with colleagues and clients. I've used it both personally and professionally and love it for both. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TeamGantt?

It can be a bit glitchy at times but i have done some pretty big plans. Also sometimes I have a number of tasks running in parallel that aren't directly dependent on each other but I want them to shift together if other dependencies shift. Appreciate it's a tricky one but if we could somehow group these that would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TeamGantt solving and how is that benefiting you?

Building big, complex plans quickly and efficiently. Being able to share project plans with both internal external parties and allow them to see updates on real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
