Once installed it is easy to keep up and running without much fuss from an IT administrator's perspective.
Now that we are upgrading to a newer version, it is nice to see how much more functionality the new version offers compared to the existing version. We use Solidworks here and in terms of the two applications working together on initial setup of a new system, you really just install both clients are are off to the races.
We also attempted an upgrade from 2017 to Summer 2024 on our own, but due to previous lack of resources on our part, we are able to use Synergis themselves to bridge the gap in knowledge to upgrade successfully without issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
From what I hear from the engineers using Adept it can be slow at times. Monitoring network usage and resource usage on both the client and server I am not sure why or how to improve performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Knowing that the file(s) I need are protected and I will get the most current version when I need to work on them. The assortment of file types that Adept manages gives a company the opportunity to protect files beyond just engineering drawings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is starting to get a bit too complex so it is not as user friendly as it has been in the past. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Adept is a great user friendly system and does the job! The Version feature and the audit trail shows you who updated the document and when. Technical support is really great and quick to respond.
We have worked with Synergis to enhance the functionality and our concurrent engineering process by customizing Adept to meet our needs. We work on multiple projects; big and small and Adept helps us in the efficient management of our documents during and after the project lifecycle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nice to have would be the time-out feature which would log out the user if inactive. This would enable availability of licenses for new users logging into the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

From the account reps, to the PMs, to the development staff, to the help desk, Synergis shines when it comes to supporting its clients. I've been in IT 25 years. I've chatted with thousands of vendors/sales reps, worked with hundreds of consultants, administered dozens of enterprise software platforms (and worked closely with their support desks), and the gang at Synergis is my favorite by far. I always—seriously, always—feel like a priority! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As with all enterprise software applications, we've run into a few glitches during major upgrades. And while this is to be expected, we've experienced elongated upgrade engagements on more than one occasion. That said, Synergis does not hesitate to "rally the troops" and dig in to solve a problem. We were even assigned "customer advocates" on the last install. They were instrumental in helping us reach a favorable outcome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Easy to use, you have complete control over all your documents, not just Solidworks files.
The new viewer is now incorporated into Adept. This now has some very good features, and has some new features in the release of Adept just launched.
Technical support when needed is fast to respond, and is staffed by very knowlegable staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Theres not much to dislike. It's a well thought out software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Having Adept gives us version control. We now record everything that happens to our drawings. And for several reasons--not the least is the amount of security--you could have one person come in and do a lot of damage to the system by just making small changes here and there.
Before, we used to overwrite drawings but now, we record everything. Adept brings in some standardization of how we do things and allows us to access the latest drawings readily
I also use the audit trail all the time. It tells you if somebody checked out something. And if you don't know their initials, you can go to the audit trail and see them there. In training, I tell engineers when they look for the drawing to look at the audit trail. That way, they can see if somebody copied that drawing out for another project or effort at the same site, noting we have several hundred different sites just in the Texas divisions alone. The product is stable, but if there’s anything I dislike, it’s the speed of uploads. We have some files or imagery over 200MB. I’d say that the speed is acceptable now that we’re using the latest 2019 release. But before this version, some files were so big I'd have to wait 25 minutes and make sure I wasn't using too many other resources on the computer. I was ecstatic when I saw how fast 2019 uploads drawings.
It'd be nice if they had a timeout feature on the Adept Explorer platform. Because we have a lot of people and somebody says they need a license. We used to have email the IT guys to go into Designer and clear that out, which was a big deal. But from what I understand, we don't have to go into that to clear the licenses out in the latest version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Library cards are extremely powerful. That said, the fact we are hosted and not hosting ourselves has limited our ability to modify/manage them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Highly disappointed with the hosted version of the platform. We should have been better informed about the pro's and con's. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Synergis Adept is easy to use, the product basically evangelizes itself to the user community. After having a less than optimal experience with a previous Document Management / EPDM application, where we were losing an average of one man-hour per user per day, Synergis came to the rescue, a forecasted three week data migration, application installation, and training actually took less than a week, with users actively on the application in just two hours. It's ease of use, coupled with a straightforward UI, makes this application quite effortless to use and manage. Adept has basically been bullet-proof for us in the 10+ years it's been in use. Their customer support has always been first-class, and their documentation is far superior to that of their competition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No downsides whatsoever in adopting this application for R&D and Production utilization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Adept solves the problems found in a Windows File Share such as people saving files differently (different locations, names, folder structures, etc). This makes it much easier to find files without relying on Tacit Knowledge, Manual Searching, or even asking someone where they saved something.
Adept also helps us tremendously with version control. Prior to Adept, we would sometimes use the wrong version of a file in production, or files would get moved, lost, overwritten, or deleted. We also had duplicate (a different versions of) files all over the place. Adept helped us get this under control.
I also like the Audit Trail where we can see exactly what happened to each file (and by whom) since its creation.
I think Adept's benefits are especially felt by CAD users as assemblies and parts retain their associations automatically. But it was the best tool we found that also benefited non-CAD users.
We also like that it's a US-based company with superior customer support. It is IT friendly and suited to our line-of-work.
Update after a few years of Adept use: They are a top-notch team and are always on-hand to help us with any issues we might have. Adept is still solving the issues we needed help solving, and it is seamlessly part of our business now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Upfront Cost – licenses are expensive but the benefits far outweighs the cost
Growing Pains - Not every file is in Adept yet (data migration is tedious and time-consuming). Training is required (and a new way of thinking is required). People resist change; we need to change the way we do some things. These really require us to break some bad habits which will make us better in the end.
It’s not perfect. There are occasional bugs or annoyances. It still relies on people to fill out data cards correctly, which is a training issue.
Software upgrades are a bit complex, requiring a bit more IT support than I'd like. Fortunately, this only affects us for a couple of days per year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
