What is SoftNAS Cloud NAS?

SoftNAS is a Linux-based virtual NAS appliance deployed on public and private cloud services like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and VMware vSphere. SoftNAS can also run on RHEL if customers prefer it over CentOS. It runs as a virtual machine, providing a broad range of software-defined capabilities, including data performance, cost management, availability, control, and security. SoftNAS provides unified storage designed and optimized for high-performance, higher than normal I/O per second (IOPS), and data reliability and recoverability. It also increases storage efficiency through thin-provisioning, compression, and deduplication. Enterprise-level cloud NAS Storage featuring data performance, security, high availability (HA), and support for the most extensive set of storage protocols in the industry: NFS, CIFS/SMB-AD, iSCSI. SoftNAS can increase cloud application performance with 23x faster throughput, 18x better IOPs, and 24x less latency than other cloud storage solutions.

What do you like best about SoftNAS Cloud NAS?

The templates that they have designed for various clouds are amazingly cost effective. The alerts and solutions that they provide for getting bang for the buck is awesome. Perfomance optimatization with good caching tech provides high speed data access with less latency.

All you have to do is enable SoftNAS Cloud NAS and it seamlessly integrated with your cloud, in our case it was Azure. We didn't face much issue in integration. It provides good storage management features. The user experience is good, because the UI is user-friendly.

We faced some challanges with customer support but later it was handled efficiently by the personnels. We had a large scale deployment and this tool suggested the best possible configuration of storage, compute power and RAM for our deployment, which was easily scalable and cost effective as well. What do you dislike about SoftNAS Cloud NAS?

The security patches are sometimes too many. It maybe complex to implement without prior knowledge in cloud services. It might be difficult to switch from this vendor.

The cost of this software might out-weigh if there are not any large -scale deployments in your cloud. It is not suitable for small companies. It's best suited for bigger orgs.

It doesn't really work well with local storage and hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SoftNAS Cloud NAS solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's helping us in configuration of azure templates for large-scale deployments of source codes and creating storage solutions for various microservices in azure. It makes sure the storage can be scaled automatically without any significant downtime for our applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
