The fee is certainly quite high compared to other research tools and the data is not comprehensive as it is based only on the data from the amazon website, not from API (Amazon has stopped selling data to third party since 2020). I've been selling/servicing Amazon for almost 10 years and this is the best tool I've come across for compiling all this information in an easy UI. We were actively looking at a 'category estimator' tool for Amazon that wanted upfront payment for a year's commitment when we found SmartScout. It saved us a big commitment to a tool that didn't do that much more and was much more complex to work with. The ability to break out "Brands", "Sellers", "Products" across multiple Amazon selling regions is amazing. It's very easy to use and understand, but I find new ideas and ways to use it all the time. My favorite ways to use it are doing discovery for new client prospects, comparing brands within the categories (or subcategories), and pulling hard to get information off of Amazon (like Sells on a particular brand). It's laid out like a giant data table of information, so anyone who can filter and sort in Excel should be able to understand it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'd love to understand more of the learning and logic behind some of the sales estimates and 'scores', which is a common theme with all estimator tools. We benchmark the sales from Smartscout against the accounts we have access to for a general range of accuracy and never treat the numbers as absolute 'truth'. That being said, I've found it to be as accurate as the most expensive tools on the market for estimating sales, plus it gives more information than most tools in a clean format. We use Smartcout in many ways. The most profitable has been to search for prospects for our agency business. We then use it for product research for our clients and for our own Amazon brands. The traffic graph is excellent to help find products to target with advertising that are sending traffic to our competitor's listings.
