As a growing company, our IT staff has recently grown to two individuals splitting the IT load along with our normal duties. For us, we need systems that are easy to manage and reliable. What we like most about Scale is that our VM platform doesn't need to be micromanaged. New deployments are much quicker and easier than our old VM platform. If I had to put a number to it, I would say we spend 75%-85% less time managing our VM platform after switching to Scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would say for us, the two biggest dislikes of Scale are: 1. You can't map a physical device to a VM. This limitation for us was self-imposed based on a legacy workflow and wasn't a huge issue to overcome. 2. I didn't buy enough storage capacity. This is a me issue that I have been fighting by reducing the number of snapshots I am keeping. Scale does a great job of de-duping, but don't be shy about buying as much storage capacity as possible. It's easy to provision systems, but even easier to clone them so you only have to do your build one time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We had a number of problems getting the network up and going like we needed it, so all setup had to be done via console directly connected. It seems a lot of this was due to the Cisco switches and not our Scale nodes, but they all came as a package deal for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Coming from a VMWare environment, the Scale Dashboard is very easy to understand and maneuver. The entry level to the experienced technician can maneuver easily through the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At this time I haven't been able to find anything that I really do not like. We implemented the system and have only needed to make a few tweaks to help increase performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In a small organization, maintenance free systems win above all else. SCALE has this down pat. Firmware upgrades are mostly automated and have caused zero downtime in our environment so far. I've only had to talk to support 2-3 times a year on minor issues and this is also a blessing when I have 500+ users to support in addition to rest of our infrastructure. The minor complaints I do have is that in exchange for ease of use you don't get to see the nitty gritty metrics. The lack of backup API's makes it difficult to use most solutions as you have to treat each VM as a physical machine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The most helpful feature of Scale is its single control panel, where you can manage your entire virtual infrastructure. The entire cluster can be viewed and managed from a single-pane of glass. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Command line level of access to the cluster would be excellent; that is my only dislike, as it seems that Scale does not trust its customers with full access to the equipment they purchased. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the dashboard that shows me all of the servers and their status and resources being used. It is easy to connect and log into each of my VMs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The sizing of the screens once I log into a VM is a challenge sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Being able to stand up a POC quickly and with the kind of workloads we wanted to model is important to us. Having access to US-based support and having a single point of contact for all things speeds up resolution and reduces frustration Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it took longer to book our engineering appointments and that speaks to their growth. They need to hire more post-sales engineers and trainers to meet demand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Simplicity. It works with no worries about how an upgrade will bork the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The recommended backup platform does not reliably work. However, with Veeam supporting client installs, this is not a significant concern. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A single manageable, highly available, and redundant solution. Easy to manage and great technical support. Redundancy! Quick and highly skilled technical support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The cluster should be able to record logs for a longer period of time. The solution is pretty sufficient. Yes! there is always space to improvements like more log saving on the cluster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Spinning up a new virtual machine is extremely easy. I love that the driver cd is automatically mounted when the server is created.
Peace of mind with so much fault tolerance built in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I hate to say it, because ai love the platform so much. But you can have virtual machines start automatically in the event of a extended power outage.
It would be nice to set specific VM' to start as soon as the cluster boots up as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
