Setup of this hyperconverged solution is super simple, and creating and managing virtual machines is so easy my kids could do it. Customer support is very knowledgable and is there to walk you through the setup step by step. The (rarely needed) support I've received through the years is by far the best I've experienced in the industry. Our company uses Scale clusters on a daily basis for our entire computing environment, and we rarely have problems or need support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like to have the option to continue software support on "outdated" or end of life products. I can source hard drives to replace if they fail, so it would be nice to have an extended software support option to extend the life of products to use as a DR failover, or archive servers. Scale Computing servers are reliable, fast, and easy to manage.
They also have a good support team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Even though servers are easy to manage, I think that the management interface could be more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use. Easier to build new VM's, and restore from snpashots when required. I had to restore one of our VM Servers, and within 3 clicks we had restored the server and had it up and running within a minute. It was such a relief and definitely helps to reduce stress. The system was easy to implement and to migrate existing VM's was easy as well. Integrating into our environment was simple and easy and prepping the network was a breeze. The use frequently, as the best part of this system is mostly set it and forget it unless you have to create a new VM. When I reach out to customer support, they are super firendly and really know their stuff. I have yet to have a bad experience with their agents. 2005 - We are in the process of upgrading and expanding out SCALE// Environment. We will be moving out exiting cluster to make it a 4 DR node Cluster instead of 1 and Installing a 4 Node cluster to run our ever growing environment!!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
To be completely honest and transparent, the only issue I have is that you cant set a VM to run automatically upon powering up, especially after a power outage. It would be nice if this could be stup like with Microsoft Hyper-V. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Simplicity. Honestly, at first I thought it looked too simple, but after fully migrating over to Scale from VMware I realized I didn't require the thousand tweaks that it offered. Plus, most SysAdmin's dread upgrades to VMware and with Scale it is an absolute breeze. I spend barely anytime having to manage our 3 node cluster compared to what I was doing with our VMware cluster.
We've been running Scale for a little over 2 years and it's been exceptional. Support is all US based and timely.
We will be putting in our first DR node in a few months so we are comitted to Scale. Also, no need to purchase additional icensing for replication. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are few things I wish they would add such as Hot Add CPU/Memory, Dynamic Memory, firmware management (the ability to managed drivers/firmware for the hardware), advanced networking (netflow within the hypervisor), VM metrics, VM boot order, and VM affinity (I want to make sure my Domain Controller's are running on different hosts).
Even with these features missing they weren't enough to sway me to stay with VMware or move to Nutanix. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Scale server platform provides everything you need without the unnecessary extras. Its user interface is clean and highly intuitive, making it simple to navigate. One of the standout features is the ability to take snapshots and create clones in just seconds. This functionality is invaluable when working on tasks that have the potential for issues, as you can recover quickly if needed.
Even if you’ve never used Scale before, an experienced administrator will have no trouble finding their way around. Additionally, their support team is outstanding—always quick to address any issues and provide solutions effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, I don't have anything about the platform that I would consider a drawback. It has consistently met my needs and expectations without any notable issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The installation is procedure with the steps is very polished. It accounts for every decision and setup step, to make sure you both setting it up correctly, and walk away knowing how to manage it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The worst part is the scheduling portal, sometimes it is buggy. If you request a phone request, and miss the initial call, it is difficult to get connected by calling back.
Using the web conference and asking them to call is the way to go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the Scale platform because it is easier to use than other VMs, and does exactly what we need it to do.
We currently have it for 3 of our locations and currently building our clusters using your new552F line.
Its Fast, effective and affordable.
Anytime I have needed to speak with support they are always, friendly, informative, and it is hard to find good support these days, but not with Scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The down side I currently experience is not really with Scale but with Acronis Backups. I believe we have all of those wrinkles ironed out now but not at the fault of Scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When creating VMs, setting up the # of CPUs, allocated memory and disk space is incredibly simple. After migrating to Scale Computing, I set up VMs running Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008, Windows 10, Centos 7, and Redhat 8. In my opinion, one of the best features of Scale Computing is how easy I can manage my VMs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Scale doesn't (at the time of this writing) support Microsoft's VM-Generation ID feature. This feature is intended to allow for the safe rollback of a Domain Controller from a snapshot when there is more than one Domain Controller in use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The technology is really good but what I like best is the customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think the product or product suite is still in its infancy stage so I think this gripe will get better. I think just increasing the ease of use and improving the UX. I also think although the support is really good. I feel that there needs to be a team that is contacting sompanies using scale and introducing them to other things they can use scale for. A team that will take adeep dive in to how we are using scale and then suggest new ways to use it and new things you can spin up. afterall its free to spin up new things. This can increase customers value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The simplicity of the solution is what we like best. The interface is clean. Upgrades are just a couple of mouse clicks. When I have required support, it is easy and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only downside is we don't have an HDMI capable KVM, so I have to move the HDMI connection manually to view the local nodes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Besides the manufacturing delay. Set up and schduling for online support to onboard the cluster was great. HC3 interface is simplistic to use compared to VMware Vcenter .
Spinning up VM was flawless comapred to Vmware or Virtual box Able to see metrics in Fleetmanger was good but could use more details and better graphs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Idid notice their documentation neeeds to be updated. Thier netowrking guide needs to be based on current switches and Cisco Model. Fleet manager and HC3 Node login needs multiple MFA support beside Okata. DUO or Microsoft Azure MFA app needs to be included. Able to do bare metal and VM backups without snapshots to NAS or Azure or Google Cloud could improve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
