SAP ERP is definitely one of the best ERP system out there that is meant for enterprise and business specific use cases. SAPERP is not meant for small/medium businesses. SAP ERP has more bells and whistles than you will ever need. Despite its little outdated look and feel, it has API access as well as modern design tool via SAP Fiori which allows developers to easily design forms using their favorite programming language. It also has connectors to React. SAP Fiori is also HTML5 friendly and the screens are all optimized for the modern web.

The cost of SAPERP implementation is tremendous. Cost for the consultation via licensed third party company, hardware and software is very high. Integrating with other non-SAP software is a pain point because SAPERP has its own way of managing its information. The names of the modules, databases/tables are not intuitive. When working with SAP ERP the first few challenges includes learning SAP specific terminologies and lingo and shortcut keys.
