## SAP ECC Reviews
 ### 1. SAP ECC: Unmatched Single Source of Truth with Rock-Solid Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor G. | Chief Information Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

What I value most about SAP ECC is its unparalleled ability to act as a single source of truth for the entire organization. The seamless integration between core modules like FI, MM, and SD ensures that data flows logically across departments in real-time. It provides a level of architectural robustness and transactional integrity that is essential for managing complex global operations and maintaining strict audit compliance at scale.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

The primary drawback is the steep learning curve and the dated user interface. Compared to modern SaaS applications, the SAP GUI feels unintuitive for new users, often requiring extensive training to navigate complex transaction codes. Additionally, the system can be quite rigid; making significant changes to established business processes or performing custom ABAP developments often involves long project timelines and high consultancy costs.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC solves the critical problem of data fragmentation by consolidating our disparate business units into a single, integrated ERP environment. Before ECC, we struggled with 'data silos' where finance, procurement, and sales operated on different numbers.

The benefit to me is a massive increase in operational transparency and auditability. I can now trace a single finished product back to its raw material purchase order and its specific financial posting in seconds. This 'single source of truth' has eliminated manual reconciliation tasks and allowed us to standardize our global processes, ensuring that every region follows the same compliance and reporting standards.

 ### 2. Reliable System I Use Daily for Procurement and Vendor Management”

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit B. | Global Buyer, Plastics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I like most about SAP ECC is its reliability in handling end-to-end procurement activities. In my current role as Global Buyer – Indirect Procurement at Ingenia Polymers & Chemicals, I use SAP ECC daily for creating and tracking purchase requisitions (PR), converting them into purchase orders (PO), and monitoring goods receipt (GRN).
I regularly use transactions like ME51N (PR creation), ME21N (PO creation), and ME23N (PO tracking). It gives clear visibility of order status, pending approvals, and vendor details in one place. Integration with finance also helps in tracking invoice status and payments, which makes coordination easier.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

I dislike about SAP ECC is that the interface is not very user-friendly, especially for new users. It takes time to learn different transaction codes and navigation. Also, generating customized reports is not very easy and often requires support from the technical team. Sometimes the system becomes slow when handling large data, which affects productivity.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC solves the problem of managing procurement, inventory, and finance data in separate systems by bringing everything into one platform.
In my work, it helps in tracking complete procurement cycle from PR to PO to GRN and invoice. This reduces manual errors and improves data accuracy. It also helps in vendor evaluation, open PO tracking, and audit compliance.
Because of this, my daily work becomes more structured, and I can take faster decisions based on real-time data.

 ### 3. Robust Integration and Seamless Data Handling with SAP ECC

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** arbaz h. | Sap Lead consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I like SAP ECC's ability to integrate with various user interfaces, which has eased data sharing and improved the consistency of operations in comparison to older ERP systems. I appreciate the integrated environment it provides to various departments within an organization. The robustness, better user experience, and flexible solution capability of SAP ECC were also significant motivators for switching from our legacy system. Furthermore, SAP ECC has been instrumental in solving financial reporting issues, providing quality reports for audits, and assisting with inventory management and timely shipping of goods.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

When dealing with huge data records, the system may result in dumps, so it has to be handled very carefully. Also, ECC is mostly implemented for large business operations and is less cost-effective for smaller businesses.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC resolves financial reporting issues, produces quality audit reports, aids in inventory management, and ensures timely shipping of goods. It helps plan and grow business effectively.

 ### 4. Robust Integration, Needs Modern UI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sagar i. | Sap mm consultant , Consulting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I like that SAP ECC offers strong integration across modules like MM, SD, and FI, ensuring seamless data flow and process consistency. Its ability to handle complex business scenarios with real-time visibility is a big plus. I also appreciate its robust customization options which make it highly reliable for enterprise operations. The integration across modules makes processes seamless, eliminates data silos, and reduces manual effort. SAP ECC improves accuracy and provides real-time visibility across the business, making operations more efficient and reliable.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

In SAP ECC, the UI is outdated, processes often require multiple transaction codes, and reporting is limited. The initial setup of SAP ECC is quite complex and time-consuming, especially for large organizations. The outdated user interface and limited flexibility in reporting compared to newer solutions slightly impact the overall experience.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAP ECC to manage procurement, inventory, and finance processes. It overcomes manual delays, inconsistent data, and limited inventory visibility. SAP ECC improves efficiency, accuracy, and provides real-time business insights, streamlining end-to-end processes and ensuring integration across modules like MM, SD, and FI.

 ### 5. Clunky SAP GUI and a Steep Learning Curve Hold ECC Back

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel D. | Global Director of Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

The "Holy Grail" of ECC is that it connects finance, sales, production, and human resources into a single source of truth. When a sales order is placed, the system automatically triggers inventory checks, updates the general ledger, and can even initiate production schedules. This eliminates the "silos" that often plague large organizations.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

Compared to modern SaaS applications or even SAP S/4HANA, the SAP GUI is often seen as clunky and non-intuitive. The learning curve for new employees is steep, and it lacks the "consumer-grade" feel that users expect in 2026.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Problem: Before ECC, departments like Finance, Manufacturing, and Sales often operated on separate systems, leading to conflicting data and manual reconciliation. The Benefit: By providing a single source of truth, it ensures that a transaction in one module (like a Goods Receipt in Materials Management) immediately reflects in another (like Accounts Payable in Finance). This results in massive time savings and reduces human error.

 ### 6. Seamless Integration of SAP ECC with BY TMS for Efficient End-to-End Operations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Md Umar F. | Integrated Logistics Operations Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

What I like most about SAP ECC in my daily operation is the strong integration between SD, MM, and FI, which helps keep business processes smooth and largely error-free.

In SD, I value the end-to-end Order-to-Cash cycle, where sales orders, deliveries, and billing are tightly connected and easy to track. In MM, the Procure-to-Pay process, together with real-time inventory updates, helps maintain accurate stock levels and supports efficient procurement. In FI, the automatic postings generated from SD and MM provide real-time financial accuracy without requiring manual intervention.

Overall, the biggest advantage for me is that a single transaction can ease of use and move seamlessly across modules, improving efficiency, transparency, and control.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

While SAP ECC is very powerful, one limitation I’ve noticed is that it can feel less user-friendly than newer systems, particularly when it comes to the interface and overall navigation.

In SD and MM, certain processes still require multiple steps across different transactions, which can slow users down and make day-to-day work feel more cumbersome. In FI, configuration and troubleshooting can be complex, often requiring deep technical knowledge to resolve issues efficiently. Reporting can also be less flexible at times unless you rely on additional tools.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC helps address the challenge of disconnected business processes by offering strong integration across its modules and with external systems. In my case, it supports smooth integration with Blue Yonder (BY) TMS, enabling consistent, seamless data flow between SAP and the transportation system.

This integration strengthens shipment planning, cuts down on manual data entry, and reduces errors during logistics execution. It also improves visibility into orders, deliveries, and transportation status, which supports faster decision-making and better overall operational efficiency.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

One thing I dislike about SAP ECC is that some parts of the system feel outdated compared to modern enterprise applications. Many traditional GUI-based transactions are not very user-friendly and require users to memorize transaction codes and navigation paths.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC solves the problem of disconnected business operations inside an organization.

 ### 8. Efficient Multi-Product Linking, Needs Better Alert Features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dr. Mahmoud A. | Sr. Supervisor, QC, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2026

SAP ECC is a comprehensive ERP system that covers key business areas such as finance, logistics, manufacturing, sales, and HR. It helps businesses standardize their processes and maintain strong control over operations through a single ERP system.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

SAP is a fairly complex system to learn, and it can take some time to get comfortable using it.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP standardises business processes across all operational areas. It provides real-time visibility into business operations through various reports and controls. It can also connect with various third-party external applications. It helps reduce manual work and errors, and it provides strong audit control.

 ### 10. Streamlined Invoice Processing with Insightful Reports

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suneel T. | OpenText Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2023

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I use SAP ECC for invoice processing, and I appreciate how it streamlines the AP process by ensuring the correct PO, GR, and SES are in place before posting the invoice. The reports, such as ME2L, ME2N, and FBL1N, are very beneficial for checking the status of various elements. ME2L provides a list of purchase orders per vendor, ME2N lists PO numbers per plant and by vendor or material group, and FBL1N shows vendor open items that are yet to be paid.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

While posting documents via MIRO, there could be improvements on the line items. We can put line items in full screen to view more details. Also, the initial setup of SAP ECC is quite challenging.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAP ECC to streamline the AP process, ensuring correct PO, GR, and SES before posting invoices. The reports, like ME2L, ME2N, and FBL1N, help me check the status of orders and vendor payments, adding significant value by providing vital information and insights.

Overall, its performance is very fast, and I would definitely recommend SAP ECC to friends and colleagues.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

It could be improved with the help of SAP S/4HANA, which is the next version. ECC can be upgraded to S/4HANA, which will be helpful. In SAP ECC, there is no S/4HANA. So that is one improvement that can be suggested.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC solves integration issues, efficiently manages costing, monthly closures, and COP analysis. Its detailed, integrated reporting for various models aids management in decision-making, providing comprehensive data collaboration and analysis.

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

Stable, integrated ERP for core business

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

Limited UX, complex UI, high maintenance costs

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC solves the problem of running integrated, end‑to‑end enterprise business processes on a single, reliable platform. It brings together order management, logistics, finance, taxation, and compliance into one tightly connected system, eliminating data silos and manual handoffs.

This benefits me by providing process consistency, data accuracy, and operational control across the entire order‑to‑cash lifecycle. Transactions flow seamlessly between modules, enabling real‑time visibility into orders, inventory, billing, and financial postings. As a result, issues are easier to trace, reporting is more reliable, and business operations run at scale with fewer disruptions.

 ### 16. Robust Integration with Complex Modules

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Teboho L. | SAP FI,ISH & ISH Med & MM Functional Consultant , Consulting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I like that SAP ECC integrates all the modules like ISH Healthcare, MM, FICO, HCM, and PP easily. It's pretty easy to host, and I find the materials management and financials and costing to work well, especially since they can be integrated properly on one system with the correct configuration.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

Integration into other systems and modifying or enhancing the ECC system is difficult, especially for SAP ISH and ISH Med. SAP did not cater for SAP ISH and ISH Med properly, so due to healthcare procedures, laws, and compliance, it becomes harder to enhance the system to the health laws. If you try, it requires a lot of development work and testing to ensure it's working properly. The initial setup wasn't easy because the infrastructure wasn't available, so we needed to set up everything ourselves.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC integrates modules easily and materials management and financials work well together with proper configuration.

 ### 17. Limited Data Integration Yet Valuable Team Visibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sherlyrajan G. | Business Analyst (Off Role), Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I appreciate the ease of accessing all relevant data across multiple teams in our organization. It gives me a clear view of completed activities, upcoming schedules, and who is responsible for the next steps. This transparency acts like a roadmap, reducing my work time since I don’t have to wait for responses from others. The visibility over the entire process builds trust that everything is on track and on schedule.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

While SAP ECC is strong in process integration, I find its lack of built-in dashboards and real-time analytics challenging. It doesn’t provide background automation for data insights, so I often need to download everything and work manually. For me, the biggest drawback is the limited data analytics capability—it slows down decision-making and adds extra steps to my workflow.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAP ECC for creating and viewing sales orders and issuing POs. It provides ease of accessing all the data across our teams, reducing my work time by allowing me to track and verify activity status without waiting on responses.

 ### 18. Quick and Smooth work SAP ECC

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankit K. | Senior Associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2026

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I liked the SAP ECC for below points;
- powerful customisation
- Scalability
- Excel Marco easily integrated with SAP ECC
- Auto Invoice posting using by Two & three way match
- Auto Purchase Order Creation smoothly
- Auto Create and Run Payment batch
- Data Accuracy and Visibility

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

- SAP ECC did not prompt the error if invoice date is future date.
- Incorrect Invoice posting by SAP automation
- Incorrect Vendor Payment by SAP automation
- SAP ECC has less option for automation
- SAP ECC has less option for improvement for smooth work

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Using this SAP, manually is become easy and smooth to finish quickly.
- The ŞAP has lot of improvement to create excel macros for creating reports, payment batch and many more. By using macros, the manual work is become so easy by the SAP.

 ### 19. End-to-End Integration with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ami S. | Accounts Payable Supervisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2025

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I like SAP ECC's end-to-end integration and stable functionality. It effectively addresses my needs by ensuring data is available everywhere once it's entered, leading to standardized and auditable financial reports. I also appreciate how it automates the purchasing, goods receipts, and invoice verification processes. The integration between FI and CO with logistic modules allows for accurate cost tracking and financial reporting, which I find very valuable.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

I find there are too many technical fields and terminology in SAP ECC, and the PO invoice mismatches are not easy to resolve. The posting keys in FB60/FB65 require accounting knowledge that isn't expected from an AP clerk. Additionally, the AP person sees the GR/IR clearing account but doesn't control them, and there's no clear aging or responsibility.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAP ECC for standardized, auditable financial reports and automating purchasing. It ensures that once data is entered, it is available everywhere.

 ### 20. Invantory Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anjani kumar Y. | Store Officer & warehouse, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

It offers a vast, deep, and time-tested set of modules covering almost every major business function, including Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Human Capital Management (HCM).

SAP offers standard enterprise support for ECC (with mainstream maintenance currently scheduled until the end of 2027, and extended support available after that). The core benefit is access to SAP's highly technical, deep knowledge base, which is necessary for a system of this complexity.

Ease of use is widely considered ECC's greatest weakness, primarily due to its user interface.

As an older system, SAP ECC has specific strengths and weaknesses in these areas compared to modern ERPs like SAP S/4HANA.

The strength of SAP ECC's customer support primarily comes from the maturity of the platform and the vast ecosystem of experts, rather than the newest technology.

SAP Support (Official): SAP offers standard enterprise support for ECC (with mainstream maintenance currently scheduled until the end of 2027, and extended support available after that). The core benefit is access to SAP's highly technical, deep knowledge base, which is necessary for a system of this complexity.

Ecosystem/Community: The single biggest benefit is the massive global installed base and consultant community. Almost any issue encountered has been solved before, meaning solutions, forum answers, and experienced consultants are readily available.

Third-Party Support: ECC's established nature means that mature, comprehensive third-party support and maintenance options are widely available, offering an alternative to standard SAP support for many customers.

Ease of use is widely considered ECC's greatest weakness, primarily due to its user interface.

User Interface (SAP GUI): ECC operates on the traditional SAP GUI (Graphical User Interface). While highly functional and efficient for power users trained on it, it is often described as non-intuitive, complex, and having a steep learning curve for new or casual users.

Process Complexity: The system is designed for maximum functional depth and customization. This means that even standard business processes often require navigating multiple screens and cryptic transaction codes, which contrasts with the modern, simplified, and role-based user experience (UX) of newer systems like SAP Fiori in S/4HANA.

Stability for Power Users: For long-term, highly trained users, the traditional SAP GUI is seen as a stable, robust environment for high-volume, repetitive data entry.

ECC offers flexibility in integration methods, but the process is generally more technical and complex than with modern ERPs.

Flexibility via Multiple Methods: ECC is highly adaptable and supports various integration technologies, including IDocs (Intermediate Documents) for reliable asynchronous batch processing and RFCs (Remote Function Calls) for real-time communication. This flexibility is a major advantage for connecting to a diverse landscape of legacy and third-party systems.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

Focusing specifically on Ease of Implementation and Frequency of Use (User Adoption), here are the key dislikes regarding SAP ECC:

1. Dislikes on Ease of Implementation
The implementation of SAP ECC is widely disliked for its inherent complexity, cost, and time commitment.

Extreme Complexity and Long Duration: ECC is a massive, highly modular system. Implementing it is not a quick installation; it is a complex, multi-year project for large enterprises. This leads to prolonged timelines and a high risk of project delays and budget overruns.

The issues with the end-user experience directly translate to low or grudging frequency of use among general employees:

Non-Intuitive, Outdated Interface (SAP GUI): This is the biggest hurdle. The classic SAP GUI is seen as a relic of the 90s. Its dense, non-graphical screens and reliance on four-digit Transaction Codes (T-codes) make it difficult and frustrating to use. Users often resort to workarounds (like using Excel) instead of using the system for simple tasks.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily of Manage Inventory of our Store & warehouse.

 ### 21. Reliable ERP backbone for large-scale operations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tanish B. | SAP Support Specialist Basis & IAM, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2025

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

SAP ECC is an established and well-tested ERP. It has a modular design, particularly the FI, MM, SD, and PP, which makes it suitable in dealing with complicated business processes among departments. I like the fact that it is compatible with other SAP systems and external tools. When correctly configured, it works well and can execute large amounts of data without any performance problems. It is reliable and is scalable.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

Its user interface is obsolete as compared to newer platforms such as S/4HANA. It is not the most user-friendly platform and it may take time to get used to it. In addition, ECC can be cumbersome to customize, and large-scale customizations will make upgrades and integrations more complex. The reporting features are functional yet not that flexible or appealing to the eyes.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC aids in handling of the basic businesses in finance, supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing. It offers order and uniformity to the processes that would be scattered among the departments. It comes in handy especially in my role provisioning, access management and system monitoring. The ECC modular design allows implementing workflows in accordance with the particular needs of businesses and its integration allows connecting with other SAP and third-party systems. It is a stable platform that facilitates extensive operations with the minimum downtimes.

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

The foundation of the enterprise is the data integrity. It maintains strict discipline on processes such that all the financial activities are channeled properly in the system. In the case of an insurance company that has to deal with extended claims, this stability will guarantee that the books will always be in balance and the information is legally defensible.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

SAP ECC is as though one tries to turn an aircraft carrier. It takes months of consulting and configuration to change a core process to meet a new business model.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is the backbone that is required in the global operation that gives you the stability that you require, yet it is going to go against you in every step that you make to be creative. You do not select this software; you endure it.

 ### 24. Highly Customizable ERP, But Pricey for Small Businesses

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manish D. | Application Development Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2025

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

I truly value the customization capabilities offered by SAP ECC, which allow us to tailor the system to our specific business needs. This adaptability is crucial for addressing various challenges we face. The product supports multiple domains within our organization, including finance, procurement, order management, and reporting, making it a versatile tool for our business operations. Its simple and intuitive UI/UX is significant in helping us navigate these functions effectively. The integration capability is another key asset, as it seamlessly connects with other tools like Workday and Boomi, enhancing our workflow efficiency. These features have collectively contributed to increasing our organization's profitability by optimizing key business areas.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

The pricing of SAP ECC is a significant concern for me. It feels very pricey, especially for small-sized customers like us. I believe the licensing cost could be optimized based on the customer's needs to make it more accessible. Additionally, I found the initial setup to be quite challenging. It required collaborative efforts from multiple teams, including finance, personnel, business users, and technical architects. This complexity in setup took about three months to implement, which was not an easy or quick process.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use SAP ECC for financial management, procurement, order management, and reporting. It improves our business profitability, offers customization to suit our needs, and integrates well with other tools, enhancing overall efficiency.

 ### 25. Reliable but Complex ERP System for Enterprises

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Celil . | Digital Transformation & Process Improvement Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2025

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

My favorite feature of SAP ECC is its ability to robustly manage complex, large-scale business processes across different departments, such as finance, logistics, and procurement, within a single integrated system. SAP ECC offers strong data integrity, customizable modules, and deep control over business operations, making it ideal for large enterprises with strict compliance and reporting requirements.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

What I dislike about SAP ECC is its steep learning curve and outdated user interface. The system can feel unintuitive and cumbersome, especially for new or non-technical users. Customizations often require ABAP development or costly consulting support, which increases implementation and maintenance costs. Additionally, integration with modern tools and cloud-based platforms can be challenging without significant effort.

It's a very powerful system, but configuring and managing it can be just as challenging or costly.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC solves the problem of managing and integrating complex business processes across multiple departments in a large organization.

Data from customer projects within our company is processed by different departments. SAP ECC consolidates this data, enabling breakdown and reporting by project, product used, and service provided.

If you have multiple production centers (multiple legal entities under one roof), the project structure becomes even more complex. SAP ECC resolves this complexity efficiently and effectively (if appropriate logic is implemented).

For us, this means faster decision-making, better traceability, and better alignment between business units, which ultimately leads to cost savings and increased efficiency.

 ### 26. A Deep Dive into SAP ECC: Review and Retrospective

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** meera anna c. | Corporate Recruiter, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

One of the standout features of SAP ECC is its comprehensive and integrated core functionality, especially within the robust Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules. This level of integration ensures a single source of truth across multiple business processes, such as procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and production, which leads to real-time data consistency and precise financial reporting. The system's proven stability and its ability to handle complex, large-scale business operations make it a highly reliable and mature ERP solution, providing a strong foundation for effective enterprise management.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

One of the main disadvantages of SAP ECC is its outdated user interface, known as SAP GUI, which many find unintuitive. This results in a steep learning curve and lower user adoption rates when compared to more modern software solutions. Additionally, the system's overall complexity and high total cost of ownership present significant challenges. Managing, maintaining, and upgrading ECC—particularly when there are extensive customizations—can be a complicated, time-consuming, and expensive process. It often necessitates hiring costly external consultants and makes adapting business processes more rigid. On top of these issues, the approaching end-of-support date for ECC (with mainstream maintenance ending in 2027) forces companies to consider a mandatory, expensive, and complex migration to S/4HANA.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC effectively addresses the issue of fragmented business processes and isolated data by bringing together essential functions such as Finance, Logistics, and HR within a unified, comprehensive platform. This centralized system serves as a single source of truth, which I find valuable for automating workflows that span multiple departments, such as order-to-cash and procure-to-pay. As a result, I benefit from more consistent and reliable data for decision-making, improved operational efficiency, fewer errors caused by manual data transfers, and enhanced ability to uphold regulatory compliance and maintain control over my business operations.

With a shared, integrated data model, it provides real-time visibility, keeps information consistent, and supports smooth, connected workflows across different departments.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

Many users find the SAP ECC interface complex, cumbersome, and outdated, which can make day-to-day operations unnecessarily difficult.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

 ### 31. Integrated ERP Workhorse With an Outdated UX

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

What I like best about SAP ECC is how tightly integrated everything is.

Because FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, etc. all live in one consistent data model, you get:

End-to-end process visibility – from purchase requisition → goods receipt → invoice → payment → FI/CO postings, everything ties out automatically.

Single source of truth – fewer reconciliations and spreadsheets, because logistics and finance are always in sync.

Mature, stable platform – it’s battle-tested and very predictable in how it behaves.

Powerful customization – via customizing (IMG), user exits, BADIs, and BAPIs you can adapt it to pretty complex real-world processes.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

What I dislike most about SAP ECC is how rigid and clunky it can feel in day-to-day use.

A few specifics:

Old-school UX
Lots of transaction codes, non-intuitive screens, and inconsistent layouts. New users are basically forced to “learn SAP” instead of just learning the process.

Complex customizing & dependencies
Small changes in configuration or master data can have side effects in other modules, so you need deep expertise and lots of testing for even modest tweaks.

Limited out-of-the-box reporting
Standard reports are often not enough, so you end up relying on custom reports, SQ01 queries, or exporting everything to Excel / BW.

Error messages & logs
Messages can be cryptic and very technical, which makes troubleshooting slower than it should be.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAP ECC is mainly solving our process fragmentation and data consistency problems.

Because finance, procurement, sales, and inventory all run in one system, we get:

End-to-end visibility across the order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, so we can track every step and catch issues earlier.

Better inventory control, with real-time stock levels and valuation, which reduces stockouts, excess inventory, and manual reconciliations.

Stronger financial accuracy and compliance, since postings are automated and integrated, which reduces errors and audit findings.

Standardized processes across locations/teams, which cuts down on “local Excel processes” and makes training and support easier.

 ### 32. Reliable ERP Backbone with Complex Navigation

The real-time data processing and reliability make it a dependable ERP platform for large enterprises. It supports comprehensive reporting and workflow customization, which are valuable for consultants and clients alike.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

The interface feels outdated and non-intuitive for new users. Navigation can be complex, and implementation often demands significant time and training. Its responsiveness is slower compared to cloud-native platforms. Additionally, the lack of flexibility in adapting to rapidly changing business needs can be a bottleneck in fast-paced environments.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher R. | Certified Medical Assistant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SAP ECC?**

One of the strongest points of SAP ECC that I like is its ability to integrate various departments and business functions into a unified system. This integration ensures that data flows smoothly between functions like finance, inventory, and procurement, leading to more streamlined operations.

**What do you dislike about SAP ECC?**

One of the things that I dislike is the need for extensive customization to meet specific business requirements can lead to complex configurations, making the system harder to manage and use efficiently. Businesses often need to rely on consultants for this, which can be costly to them in the long run.

**What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Healthcare organizations often face siloed data and processes across departments (e.g., patient care, billing, inventory management, human resources, procurement). This fragmentation can lead to inefficiencies, delays, and errors. We try to look for LEAN processes.
