What do you like best about Sanity?

Quickly building document schemas without needing to dive into complex UI for Sanity Studio allows me to focus on doing the headless implementations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

The concept of Scheduling API and Document events is great however falls short when they are fired before the Sanity CDN is rebuilt. Maybe the CDN could be on demand when not warmed to resolve the issue. Additionally, the WYSIWYG editor could perhaps be changed to a different 3rd party library that would allow the ability to construct tables maybe.

Additionally from a development standpoint, being required to connect to the Sanity Content Lake for performing local development is a frustration as the development data sets count towards the quota of the overall plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sanity?

I like the flexibility of the platform, and how critical data concerns are handled by Sanity's team while less critical aspects - such as the frontend for your data lake - are self-hosted and subject to version control, and easily extendable with an awesome plugin ecosystem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

The documentation around usng the renderStudio function, as opposed to a standalone app, could be better (had to dig to find the hash routing feature) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Sanity:

If you have access to a devteam of any level, using Sanity will be a breeze and will enhance your potential feature-set Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Decoupling data from presentation is one of the main benefits of going headless with Sanity, and while most platforms have some level of graphql integration which makes accessing that data relatively trivial, GROQ is an incredibly powerful query language that supports most of my data transformation needs, making callback requests mostly unnecessary and serving me exactly the data I need, when I need it, fast. What do you like best about Sanity?

The best thing about Sanity is the ease in creating a tailored experience for your clients. Sanity's flexibility and customization options make it incredibly helpful in building a content management experience that perfectly fits the needs of each of my projects. Creating custom input components has been so helpful—provide an intuitive, streamlined interface for me clients. I love being able to fine-tune every aspect of Sanity to my exact specifications. This level of control and customization is invaluable in delivering an exceptional experience for my clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

The main downside of Sanity isn't about the platform itself but rather the perception many clients have. Unfortunately WordPress is still such a dominant name in the CMS world. So, it can be challenging to convince certain clients that Sanity is a better fit for their needs. This doesn't reflect poorly on Sanity, but it’s an annoyance when working with clients unfamiliar with its capabilities. Haha.

Another minor downside is that Sanity lacks a multi-select feature for array fields. Additionally, the absence of a built-in sorting selection for array fields can be a little confusing to users. These are relatively small issues in the grand scheme of things, though, and don’t detract significantly from how powerful and flexible the platform is overall. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

My clients need robust, customizable content management systems that seamlessly connect to their websites. Sanity solves this for me by allowing clients to manage their content effortlessly without needing to understand design or complex technical details. It streamlines their workflow and ensures they can focus on their content, while I maintain full control over the design and functionality. This flexibility leads to better client satisfaction and more efficient project execution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sanity?

I started freelance website development in 2021 and had no idea about CMS's or how to use them. Sanity was the clear outstander for me and made it incredibly easy to setup and get going with content management with NextJS (and react previously). Since then I have used Sanity for all my clients and, with the easy customisation, have had compliments on how easy the studio is to use, even if the person isn't that tech orientated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

While the guidance and docs for simple tasks like setup and schema creation is simple and easy to use, I think they could be improved for more complicated tasks, like studio customisation or live preview. For these things, I normally would have to use a forum or 3rd party instructions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

As a freelancer, I don't want to be managing the content on my websites. So I chose for a more dynamic content approach and Sanity was the clear outstander in that field. I've tried alternatives like Strapi but just none of them compare on how easy to use Sanity is, especially with hosting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sanity?

Coming from a traditional CMS like sitecore, sanity absolutely blew my mind. The content-driven approach was a completely different perspective for me. Sanity is super easy to integrate and implement into your application. There are a plethora of features and plugins to customize your experience. Sanity's community and team are super prompt, be assured you can always find a solution to your problem. I am using Sanity studio almost everyday now to manage content for our agency website and its just made life so much easier! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

Some features of sanity can have a learning curve for content-authors but I believe that will be resolved once Sanity Create is integrated into the studio Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sanity is playing a major role in our website's marketing pipeline as of now, allowing our content-authors to have full access over the content. We are also building multiple POCs with the help of Sanity which we believe would be an absolute game-changer in the world of front-end development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sanity?

Visual editing, live preview and click-to-edit are game changing. As the Head of Engineering for a digital agency, I've worked with tens of CMS' over the past 16 years, and nothing comes close to the feeling of clicking things on your website and changing them. Sanity gives you this super power as a table stake, and then so much more.

I also love the flexibility to change the CMS as needed. I can add entirely new field types, change the UI of existing field types, and even replace entire sections of the CMS with my own code. It gives me a turnkey CMS with amazing feature that gets out of the way when I need it to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

The media library is lacking compared to other CMS. It needs a better integration into the core product, as picking media and setting meta data is quite clunky. It also doesn't have folders, relying only on tags. And you can't set tags on an image when adding it to a document easily. It could really do with improvement Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sanity helps us manage content for our clients, across brochure websites, web and mobile applications, e-commerce, dynamic dashboards, IoT displays, TV broadcasts, and more. Managing all content for multiple channels in one place is amazing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sanity?

The Sanity API is lightning fast, which makes it a perfect choice for many use cases. The relatively standardised interface allows it to focus on the end-user functionality instead of the authoring experience.

Implementation definitely requires a developer, but is straight-forward.

The flexible structure allowed us to use Sanity not only for web content, but also for product data mangement (with a relatively complex product/variant model), store management, etc.

The combination of webhooks and GROQ (the query language) allows it to be integrated super easily to other systems (e.g. using Zapier or any other tool). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

There is a plan between Growth and Enterprise missing. Some features (e.g. roles) are only available for enterprise plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

All our content (product data, store data, web content) is managed in a centralised Sanity instance, which allows us to reuse the same content across all our platform.

We use Sanity both as product master system as well as for normal use cases like web content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sanity?

Sanity is highly customizable without being overly complex. It gives developers a lot of power to tailor the platform to their organization's needs, and since it's all JavaScript or TypeScript, the barriers to entry are low. Queries are robust and flexible, and it is a truly headless system that allows structured content to flow nearly anywhere. The pricing plans, support, new feature development, and platform administration are first-class. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

Sanity may be overkill for some use cases, and there is a bit of a learning curve for customizing and utilizing basic things like the rich text editor or image pipeline—but in the end, that pays off in flexibility and performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

We were heavily restricted by a traditional, static CMS that was tightly coupled to the website platform. Sanity gave us the flexibility to deploy a headless CMS in parallel, and we can even make pure front-end queries where needed to simplify the transition. Eventually, we'll migrate all of our content to Sanity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sanity?

Sanity is a lifesaver. I was searching for a good CMS for my blogging site that can be maintained by members of my clubs but was unable to find any free CMS to use that can also allow more than 2 members to collaborate and maintain. It is so easy to use and implement. I Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

I have yet to find any downside to using Sanity. So easy to implement. Got the NExtJS template of the blogging site and used it. Great Integration techniques. Thanks to the sanity team to give us so much features that also free of cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

I made a blogging site in NextJS for my science communication club at college. I wanted to get a CMS that can be easily maintained by members of the club as they are not that tech savvy. And Sanity is so great in this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sanity?

I like to have my schema defined together with my code, this way, I'm sure that the schema is versioned correctly with the project this is very easy to use and implement, and it's also very easy to integrate with plugins that are created by the community, like the plugin table, color, youtube, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

The GROQ query language is very versatile but sometimes time is hard to get all the fields that I want or to fetch them correctly, maybe if GraphQL has all GROQ features it will help to have an alternative with complex queries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Having an easy way for the site's administrator to update any content on the landing pages and see the changes in real time is awesome, and with the new Perspective feature we're also able to preview the pages inside the panel without publishing to the live site. What do you like best about Sanity?

One of the great things (among other very great things) is the ability to customise the entire editing experience for the content and data of your business. Sanity makes very little assumptions about the type of content you need to create, and allows for easy creation of content types and interface structure.

The onboarding by the Sanity team was very well done too. A number of sessions were organised to showcase several features of the editing experience for both content editors as well as developers. This made for a smooth integration into our application landscape.

Our content editors are now using it on a daily basis much to their liking, and we will enjoy working with Sanity in the future as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

Since Sanity doesn't make any assumptions about the content or data in the system, you have to think about a number of cases yourself. While this may sound as a bit of a downside, it also allows you (or even forces you) to make some very deliberate and thoughtful choices regarding your content, structure and interface configuration, making for a better editing experience in the end. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sanity offers both a user and developer oriented platform, which is fairly unique position in the market. The ease of configuration of Sanity allows developers and consultants to make deliberate decisions that best suit the uses cases for the business and the CMS' end users. This allows for a quick start with integrating the platform, which in turn can lead to a fast time-to-market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
