The most helpful tool for me at this time is the Star Early Literacy Assessment. I use this assessment to determine whether a student is showing deficiencies in phonemic awareness. I am the dyslexia specialist for the district and use the Star Early Literacy Assessment to determine which students could benefit from the Orton-Gillingham style of learning phonics. I really wish that I could look at a students diagnostic reports and determine for certain the skills they are struggling with. I would like to know that a student is struggling with prepositions because he/she missed some questions pertaining to that concept. Currently, the student results are based upon their scaled scores. What I like best about the Renaissance Star Assessments are their ease of protoring to students, their integration in working with other platforms, such as Freckle, as well as their engagement in keeping students interested in learning and testing. This assessment platform has helped us use the data we received to help personalize students' learning to help individualize their progress. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have yet to find many downsides of Renaissance Star Assessments, the only I have encountered is there are sometimes some glitches in the testing sessions, but nothing major that can't be closed out and reloaded. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This Benchmark testing allows for data that is easily interpreted and used. The tests are easy to administer and give valuable information to group our students and guide instruction. They are easy to use, offer helpful information, and offer instructional suggestions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is expensive and the cost rises each year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how after a student takes a simple test, that teachers can immediatelly see what reading level (or math) is best suited for their continued growth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish that the test would have a timer on it that would not permit students to reun throughthe test too fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the reports at the end. I am please with the amount of data and the break down of the data after a child tests. I feel like this makes my small reading groups run so smoothly and helps me plan for those. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish there was a way for teachers and facilitators to monitor ALL assessments at one time. I do find students will "Christmas tree" the answers and I always make them do it again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My favorite part of Renaissance Star Assessments is that they are made with every student in mind. The assessments make it easy for teachers to identify learning gaps and help students reach their learning goals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only frustrating part of Renaissance Star Assessments is that I feel like there is not enough time in the day to utilize all the available resources. I wish that I had more time to learn everything available and how to utilize it in my classroom. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

STAR assessments are very accurate to their ability for the most part. The skills taught are all covered and when students are above/below average, they will meet their ability on the questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really like STAR assessments. I do wish, however, that they did have questions read to kindergarten because most of the questions are too hard for them to read. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that the Star Assessments adapt to the student as they are answering questions. Afterward there are different reports you can look at. It will also tell you the grade level where students should practice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Something I dislike is that when you don't pause the test correctly, students will have to begin the test from the beginning, which can be discouraging for them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
